"So what plans you got for tomorrow?" I ask Alexandra.
"Well, that depends..." She replies.
"On what?" I ask again.
"You. If you leave me like you said you would I'll be home lonely with a book and hot-"
"Ok hold on a damn minute! Don't frame it like that. I said I am not leaving your side this entire party. I never said anything about leaving your side or leaving you, well not yet at least..." I say interrupting her mid-sentence.
"Same difference." She replied.
I gave her a look I give my younger cousins when they say dumb shit precisely like this and nod my head.
"OK, I am actually serious. What are you doing tomorrow?" I asked.
"Atlas?" She replied holding my hand and looking me in the eyes.
I gulp. There is a bit of tension in the air right now.
"What's up? You got a very serious look in your eye right now."
"It's just that... It's... Umm... U know what? It's actually nothing." she replied.
What the fuck kinda rollercoaster was that?!
"Hey... You ok?" I ask her in utter confusion.
"Yeah, it's nothing... Just hold me tight?" She asks with little tears in her eyes.
"Um yeah sure... I'm here if you wanna talk." I reply while holding her tight in my arms.
"I know."
We fell asleep on the deck in the backyard just star gazing.
The next morning...
"Well well well, what do we have here? Don't the two of you look cozy?" said a man with a deep voice.
"Mhmm, we are trying to sleep here man, can you put the light off?" I reply half in my sleep without opening my eyes.
"Light?! What are you talking about? That is the fucking sun, Atlas" The man replied.
I opened my eyes to a familiar face, Ryder's face was in my view... but thank god because behind him was the sun.
"Ryder... What's the time?" I asked him.
"It's 8 you might wanna come inside, you and Alexandra were in the open cold the whole night." He replied.
"Oye! Sleepyhead it is 8... You wanna get breakfast or something?" I spoke to one sleeping Alexandra whose head was basically crushing my lungs.
"Mhmm" She replied.
"What does that 'mhmm' even mean woman?!" I replied.
"Mhmm" She replied completely asleep.
"Do you wanna keep sleeping?" I asked her
"Mhmm" At least this time she nodded her head agreeing.
"Ok... Can I get up and eat?" I asked her back.
"Nhmm" she replied nodding her head disagreeing.
"Can we at least go inside? You're gonna catch a cold."
"No, I don't wanna get up."
"Ok then..." I replied smirking. "Desperate times call for desperate measures."
"You know what? Deal with your own shit." Ryder said leaving.
"Up we go" I carried her in my arms.
She didn't even care, she just continued sleeping. Fascinating stuff.
I walk into the house, climb the stairs open my door while making sure I don't bang her head anywhere, and put her down on my bed.
"You good?" I ask her.
"No." She replied.
"Ahhh! So you can talk? I thought I imagined hearing your voice last night and what do you mean no?"
"You're not next to me."
"Ok, I'll tell you what I'm gonna go for a run-"
"no" she replied in a sad tone and she held my hand.
I sit next to her. "Let me finish my sentence Alex... So I'm gonna go for a run and get us some coffee and maybe some pancakes... Sound good?" I reply.
"Mhmm... come back soon."
"If you get up before I get back there's sweats and hoodies in my closet. Night night."
