"Shit!" Lyon cursed as he ran as fast as he could towards the stadium to find the gates closed and not a single guard was present. He could already hear the battle commencing from the outside as the participants chanted their attacks and the crowd cheered in joy.
He ran around the stadium towards the other entrance but there was no one to find as well, he glanced at his surroundings. No stall could be seen as well despite the event being something that was watched by the whole kingdom. Putting a little more effort he ran on last time towards the last possible entrance. He sighed in relief as he saw stalls in the distance with people wandering around. He quickly made his way towards the entrance and was halted by one of the guards.
"Ticket please" the guard asked.
Lyon touched the pockets of his pants but couldn't find his ticket. The guard nodded and was about to ask him to get out of the line when another guard came rushing towards them.
"Oi! What are you doing?" the guard asked.
"Huh? He doesn't have a ticket"
"Do you not know who that is?"
"Who is-"
The guard shushed his partner and lowered his head.
"Please hurry, mister Lyon/. Your match is about to start" the guard spoke.
Lyon gave a smile before bowing as well and started to walk the large tunnel that led towards the bleachers. Before he could get further he heard the guard scolding his partner for not knowing who he was. Lyon cackled before rushing towards the exit where the crowd was screaming as his opponent's name was announced. He ran as fast as he could as the announcer continued to call him out. As he got closer towards the end of the tunnel he realized that he was located higher than he thought.
He jumped as he exited the tunnel causing the crowd to look at him, before falling to the ground he casted fire magic that created flames which slowed down his fall. The crowd was speechless as he stood at the center of the platform that is used by the participants. They stared at him as he stared right back at them, he suddenly bowed with his hand in front and behind him causing the crowd to suddenly applaud at his superb and unique entrance.
The announcer coughed at the mic to get the crowd's attention as he once more announced Lyon's name. Lyon looked towards his opponent and was shocked to see a female student wearing the average royal academy uniform, a white polo with a red bow, paired with a light colored skirt with golden thread sewed to create a symbol that high-ranking nobles have and topped with a coat with the same color as the skirt with the similar symbol but had a name sewn above it.
She stood parallel to him waving her hand. It was the Student Council President of the Avaritian Royal Academy, Lady Ursula Beaufort. Daughter of the Beaufort Noble family which stood closely beside the king helping to govern over the kingdom.
Ursula Beaufort or much known as Lady Ursula "The Piercer" was known to be able to defeat her opponents by hitting their mana points using the blunt end of her spear, making them unable to use magic. With most of the people being magic dependent she usually gets the upper hand once she strikes them once creating a one shot victory. But in her current case, Lyon is a trained knight who has outstanding fighting ability in every aspect of fighting due to him being trained by Commander Arthur.
She plunged directly at him, her blunt spear pointing towards the upper right part of Lyon's chest. A human's mana reserves come from the opposite side of their chest giving them two hearts. Thus if a human's actual heart is destroyed in any way possible his second heart known as the Mana Core would supply him with life for a matter of days the longest being a week. Within that time frame the person can find a way to get a new heart either by some artificial machinery or by some Godly magic.
Ursula smiled as Lyon's superior reflexes kicked in, using his right hand to push the spear to his left, changing the spear's trajectory. He leaned over to his right so that she could not reach him even if she extended her hand towards him. Lyon watched as she passed by him, her body in a horizontal form. Her speed was something that normal people's eyes could not see coming but because it was Lyon she was moving much slower than the rest. She was going directly towards the bleachers, but before she could hit them or anyone she used her heels to force herself to stop.
The crowd screamed and cheered as she suddenly appeared before their eyes. She smiled at them before turning towards Lyon again. She walked closer to him and stopped only a few meters away from him.
"You're much better than I expected" She said with a fierce look on her face.
"Who knows…." Lyon replied as he shrugged his shoulders.
She smirked and threw her spear towards the sky everyone watched as the spear sped up as it got higher and higher. She then placed both her hands on her right hip recreating the position where one has to take out a sword from its scabbard. With her water magic she created an artificial sword made out of water she bent her knees and took in deep breaths. She waited for the right time, upon opening her eyes she saw the spear was only a few feet away from Lyon.
"Water Magic: Extending Water Blade!"
She pulled out her blade and waved her hand creating a horizontal slicing motion in thin air as the blade she pulled out only extended to about 30 inches which wasn't even half of the distance between the two of them. But suddenly a long and thin water line appeared out of nowhere and went rushing straight towards Lyon. It looked like a large spreaded water on a flat surface, both the spear and the water blade came rushing in towards him at the same time. The crowd was shouting on the top of their lungs as the fight happened right before their eyes.
A sudden cloud of smoke suddenly appeared on Lyon's side , completely submerging him in the large smoke that looked like it reached the sky. From amidst the clouds Ursula's spear suddenly rose out of the cloud, hurdling towards her like an arrow from a bow. Without a chant it was ignited in flames. She was surprised, her body froze as the heat got closer. An awkward laugh came out of her mouth as the flaming spear stopped only inches from her right eye, sweating bullets she fell to her knees. It was an obvious win for Lyon. But things were only getting started. Lyon threw away the spear to the side, its flame immediately dispersing.
He turned around and walked back to where he stood earlier, the crowd was amazed by Lyon's prowess that the watching nobles could let out a single peep. Jiniya who sat at the highest seat was shocked to see Lyon but her face was emotionless despite her legs already shaking and her fist clenched hard against the wooden hand rest on her chair. Her teeths grinding against one another behind her soft red lips.
"What a splendid show, and here I thought it'd take a month before he would come out" Arthur suddenly called out.
"Did you?" the king asked.
"But of course your highness. I calculated using the past experiments, and with that I concluded that he would return after a month. But here he is fighting like the royal knight he is"
Arthur applauded his hands as he walked towards the stone wall that reached his thigh revealing himself to the audience. They locked up at him following his applause, cheering at both Lyon and Ursula. Lyon bowed his head in four directions one after another, upon returning to his original position where he stood further from Ursula as he faced her. He lifted his right arm and extended it towards her, he gestured his finger taunting her to come closer.
She gladly obliged, standing up and unhesitantly charging towards him. With fists flooded with water that she created using her mana, she then struck his left arm with her palm causing Lyon to be thrown meters away from her. He felt a tingling pain beneath his clothes, lifting up the sleeves he saw water needles piercing him turning his arm unusable. He smirked as he lifted his right arm and posed a fighting style taught to the knights in case they are dismembered or mutilated in between battles.
"Using your family's fighting style, huh?" Lyon said.
"Well, we're the only ones who could use this," she replied.
Lyon stomped his right foot as he once again taunted her to come closer. Being caught in his trap, she rushed towards him. She placed her feet beside his right foot and was about to throw a punch aimed at his face that was enhanced by the water magic. When a sudden heat emerged from Lyon's feet causing her to lose her balance, he tilted his head and used his right hand to strike the side of her left rib. The sound of cracking bones was heard only between the two of them, she was stuck at a sensitive spot and her body felt light as she fell on his shoulder.
Blood coughed out of her mouth tainting his coat in red. The crowd was suddenly on their feet as she fell on the ground face first, her body looking lifeless. Students of the Royal Academy suddenly jumped out of their seats and surrounded Lyon. He gave out a laugh as the heavy steps of knights got closer to them.
"Stop!-" Arthur suddenly shouted.
"Under my supervision I am allowing others to participate in this match, but your only enemy is Lyon Aschere! Now then give us a wonderful show!!"
The students looked at Arthur and bowed their heads as the knights headed back to their post, still allowing people to enter the elevated platform where Lyon and the rest stood. The crowd's screams were raised in volume as they chanted Lyon's name. He smiled at them as he finally felt his left arm, he shaked it a little before clenching both his fists and shifting position. Legs spread out away from one another, knees bended, arms extending wide and a smug look on his face.
Everyone came to him with fists targeting his face, others enhanced themselves with either mana or magic but all of it was futile against someone who was trained to be able to handle an army all by himself. Each of their punches either missed him or was moved to hit another target. His movement looked like a dance as he continued to perform for the growing crowd. He smiled as he felt the fight of a lifetime, blocking everyone's attack all at once as he returned them with doubled force causing them to fly further from him and towards the other who ran towards him.
Out of the blue a sudden arrow made out of gale causing a cut to appear on his right cheek. He was shocked and so was the rest, furthest from his location stood the same person who wished his existence would disappear. Raging mana was leaking out of her body that looked much frail than when he last saw her. He suddenly felt his senses tingling as the sound of hurdling rocks rang from the sky. He looked at the sky disregarding the woman who had just wounded him. His action only fueled her rage, on her palm she created a small cyclone that slowly grew larger as she placed it on the floor. Pulling and throwing everyone in its path.
Chapter End.
