Well, here we are, a graduate student, and an adult. I'll be starting college in 4 months at RPI. I don't exactly know what I will be going for yet but I'll find out sooner or later. I've been working at that retirement home for a few years now and have been working more often than needed. I don't want to leave but I'm afraid that I will have to if I want to attend RPI. I moved out of my parent's house today and I'm renting an apartment. I'm saving up so ask Kelly to marry me. I know the perfect place to do it. Next month we are going to a beach and I'm going to go to the beach a day before to prep this. We are going to be walking in New York City's BoardWalk and then go to the beach. I'll be proposing to her at the end so that we can talk and laugh and have a good time. I'm just nervous she will say no. Two weeks until the proposal I'm getting nervous. She has been busy lately. I'm just hoping she hasn't seen the ring.
We are planning on spending 2 weeks in New York City. Giving us time to do what we want to do and have a lot of fun. I'm going to be doing it on the 5th day we are down there. I'm going to my job today to give them 2 weeks' notice. I told them that once I get back I will be happy to volunteer for them for free. They said that they would miss me. Especially this one lady called Rose. I've been helping Rose for a while now and she is my favorite. I come on my days off to see her and hang out with her. I took her out to eat once and she enjoyed it. I took her to this Italian restaurant and told her she can have whatever she wants. Rose is like a grandmother to me. I never got to meet my grandmother so I treat Rose like she is my grandmother. I'm not allowed to give out her personal information but I asked her if I can use where she came from and she said yes. Rose came from Italy in 1983 and has lived in the United States since then. She came over with her husband Jack. They used to live in downtown Schenectady but in 2010 her husband died and the house had to be put up for auction so she could move into a retirement home. I gave Rose a frame with a picture of me so that she will always see me. I told Rose that I will be sure to call her and check up on her when I can. I decided I'm going to be going to college to be a counselor. I love helping people so much that I think a counselor would help with that. They help people the most out of everyone. I leave next week for New York and I'm excited.
The more I think about it the more I can't wait for it. Kelly took off of work for the rest of the summer. We leave tomorrow for New York and I can't wait. Can I just say that the traffic is bad down here? We haven't moved for about 20 minutes. We are an hour away from our destination but I have a feeling it will take longer than that. Finally, we are out. It took 2 hours to get out of traffic now time to find parking. Parking wasn't difficult to find. Well, this is it for tonight talk more in the morning. It is 2:31 AM and I got woken up by some weird sounds in the halls. It sounds like someone needs help. I looked out into the halls and an elderly lady was trying to open her door. I offered to help and she accepted it. Once I opened the door I noticed someone laying down watching TV. It was Phoebe. She was down here in New York City. I was so happy to see her but I had to go back to bed because if I didn't I wouldn't make it tomorrow. Today we are planning to watch the New York Yankees play against the Boston Red Sox. The game isn't until 6 so we still have time.
I told Kelly that tomorrow I had to do some things early in the morning so I won't be at the hotel when she woke up. She said ok but was confused like she thought I was up to something bad. With three hours until the game starts we started to head over because I heard that the line gets long and boring so the sooner we arrive the quicker we get in. We managed to arrive at 4:30 and there weren't a lot of people here yet. We made it in at 5:45 and got to our seats. The New York Yankees won the game 5-3. It was an interesting game but it is getting late so I'm going to go now I'll talk later. It is once again about 2:30 am and I heard the same noise again. I looked out into the halls and noticed that it was the lady from last night. I went out and gave her some help again. Once again I saw Phoebe. I'm starting to get worried for both of them. Instead of leaving, I asked if I could come in and she said sure.
I asked her why she always comes here so late. She said that she and Phoebe have had some financial issues lately and all they could afford was a hotel. She said that Phoebe works daytime and she works during the night. Once she said that I knew I had to help somehow. I contacted some friends who owe me a favor and asked them if they could loan me some money. They all gave me some money. 2 hours later I came back and knocked on the door. The lady was still up and I asked if I could talk to her. She said yes, as I walked in I started telling her who I am and what I do. After I explained all that stuff I told her that a few friends owed me a favor and I asked for some help. I have her and an envelope with almost $2,000 in it. I told her that if she ever needs money have Phoebe call me. Well, I'm going to go back to sleep. I woke up at about 8 AM. Luckily Kelly isn't up yet so I can still prepare for the Proposal. I managed to finish everything by noon so I can still hang out with Kelly. She wanted to walk along the BoardWalk and I couldn't say no so I told her I had to grab something.
I looked all around the room for the ring until I found it. I was going to do the proposal early. As we got to the spot I was going to do it, I stopped her and asked her to turn around. When she did I was on 1 knee and I asked her to marry me. She said yes and then we walked over to the spot I set up and I told her about the elderly lady and how she and her granddaughter need help financially. She agreed to end our vacation early to save money and give the money to her. Kelly asked me if there was any specific reason why I want to help out this much. I told her that the granddaughter was Phoebe. I never got to tell her about who Phoebe was. I told her all about who Phoebe was and Kelly agreed to us helping them out. The next morning I knocked on their door and Phoebe answered. I told her I have a surprise for her. I gave her almost $5,000 and told her that, That was for helping me freshman year. She thanked me and told me if I ever need anything just let her know. Well, my summer had a short ending this year but I just want everyone to know that being nice can go a long way.
