"A former assassin huh?" Paulina asked Amaya
The Hunters had left the warehouse the opposite direction of where Jakub's group had. Choosing to avoid further altercation for now they didn't follow them. Paulina informed them they were heading back to the headquarters where they would do something in Dimirti's honor.
"Yeah, I was part of the LIA which had a covert black list assassination team known as the Listers. I was second amongst the Listers in terms of sheer power and kill count, second only to Blood, who is the supposed leader of Reign. I don't think he would lower himself to be the leader of a lowly gang of reapers. I believe he has a much bigger role in this than it seems." Amaya informed her
Nicholas Tress A.K.A Blood, was the top Lister for the LIA. Taking out rival politicians so they could hold the proper power amongst the people. He killed countless people including others just to get on his target. Known as Blood not only for his ability to manipulate blood but also for the amounts he has spilled. He has the most human blood on his hands than any reaper in this world and Amaya believed there was no chance that he wasn't a much larger player in the battle at hand.
The Hunters were determined to take out the vampire queen for their goddess but Paulina had other plans.
Paulina got closer to Amaya as they walked back to headquarters. "You're not here to join us are you? You saw this as an opportunity to assist your friends from the inside of an opposite faction."
Amaya had a very surprised look on her face. "I know you were Emily's best friend from the world before here. She talks in her sleep loud enough for us to hear, screams. I think she recalls the night she died over and over. She misses you."
"I miss her too, so here's the plan. I hate that I was unwillingly pulled here even though it was the chance to save Emily. I was lied to, there's no going back to our world. I've accepted that and I plan to stay here with her, it's very hard to accept because I'll never be able to see my fiancé again, but I have no choice. We're going to work together and find out everything we need to know about all the factions of supernatural beings here. We will assist them in any way we can and if you still want to kill the queen afterwards so be it." Paulina explained
Amaya nodded her head. "I'm in."
"You two seem pretty well acquainted already." Steph said
"Just getting to know her a little." Paulina replied
Stephany seemed a little suspicious of the two, seeing how Paulina accepted Amaya so easily after they even just lost a member.
Cindy felt the same way but she was less outspoken about the subject at hand. She felt it was better to watch and wait.
The Hunters finally had returned to the headquarters and proceeded to the third floor where they had the doc AI inspect everyone to make sure they were alright. They also wanted knowledge on everything Amaya had going on so they had him do a thorough inspection on soul and brain.
Paulina leaned in closer to Amaya once again. "Don't worry it's to show good intent for the group. Emily is my priority."
Paulina exited the room as the AI conducted the inspection. "Artemis, can you hear me?" Artemis appeared before her.
"Yes my servant?"
"Does Emily have to be alive here when I kill the vampire queen in order for her to be summoned back to the other world?"
"No she does not. I can resurrect her in the other world as long as you live. If you die though, the deal is off whether the queen dies or not."
"I had the opportunity of running into the queen a few hours ago. You didn't tell me she was a friend of theirs."
Artemis sighed. "This makes this more difficult, I didn't know that she had anything to do with your friend."
"Well it didn't seem like they did before but some guy with her protected the queen and we had no chance with him in the way." Paulina explained
"Was the guy a vampire?"
"No, I think he was a reaper."
"Reapers oppose us, they've taken control over most of this city so killing them is okay. Emotionless fools."
"Well he and Emily are both Reapers and both seemed to have their emotions fully intact."
"Reapers with emotions? I've only ever heard of the heartless and because of their emotionless ways is why they were able to take over so much. Hades knows what he's doing sadly."
Artemis had not yet heard anything about Elena's reapers that are capable of living normally. She had known Hades and Persaphone had a daughter but she didn't know she was involved in the fight here.
"The heartless should have been the only reapers here."
"There were only those two there so maybe they're the only two."
"More than likely, I must return to my duties. Goodbye."
Paulina bowed her head and walked back into the room.
"How did everything go?"
Amaya was standing in the corner with her daggers drawn and the others were pointing their weapons at her.
"What is going on?"
"The damned AI just exploded while checking her brain scans!" Steph yelled
"I tried telling them it's because of the combat chip! It protects me from intrusions in my mind, I probably should have forewarned it."
Paulina sighed. "Well, put your weapons down, nobody is fighting here. Let's get over the fact that an AI died here, we will replace him."
"We've had that AI forever are you kidding me?" Cindy said
"If she has a combat chip do you genuinely think it's in your best interest to fight her in a building? You're ranged fighters, you stand no chance in front of her." Paulina said
The three put their conductors away, all of them using cybernetics, the weapons just vanished.
"Let's go somewhere more comfortable to talk things out." Paulina said
