Chapter 29 - A Deity Problem

The night sky was beautiful as the group stayed on the beach until nightfall. Nobody wanted to speak and it looked as if all of them were deep in thought about what had been talked about earlier. Gods and Goddesses being real, Jakub hadn't been religious since he was younger but he did have the feeling there was some type of omnipotence in the world. He just felt that there was no way things just happened and people went on. He never thought the Gods and Goddesses of legends and mythology would be the omnipotent beings. Jakub began to wonder if that was the case for his former world also. Were these same beings the overseers of every universe or just this one and they could occasionally tap into others. Jakub's thoughts ran deep on the matter and had him silent for the time being.

Emily stared off into the stars over the ocean. She was thinking identically to Jakub except she felt like Elena lied to them. Elena made the deal to let them live again as long as they looked into the heartless. They had no idea they were making a deal with a goddess because all she did was call herself a princess. She knew that they needed to confront Elena about this and that's what she planned to do. Turning to Jakub about to speak, realizing he was already looking at her.

"We need to contact Elena." Jakub communicated through heightened sense

"I agree, she has some explaining to do." She replied

"We'll be back guys." Jakub said standing up from the sand and helped Emily up also.

The two walked a little ways down the beach and attempted to contact Elena.

"Awww lovers walking on the beach!" Nicole yelled at the two.

The two pretended not to hear her but Emily's face got beet red.

"We sho- whoa your face is red are you okay?" Jakub asked

"Yes you idiot." She replied "now get a hold of Elena"

Jakub scratched his head confused as to why she called him an idiot. "Guess it can't be helped. Elena! Can you hear me?"

"What is it? Are both of you there? Are you okay?" Elena instantly replied and questioned them.

"We're both here and we're okay. We have some questions for-"

"You lied to us…" Emily joined in. "You never told us you were a goddess and you never told us your father was Hades himself!"

Elena sighed. "How did you find out?"

"Too much has happened here and too many people have been hurt. We've been conversing and putting pieces together little by little until we found out that you were a goddess yourself." Emily replied

"We'll I never actually lied as I just did not tell the whole truth. I am a princess, not of a place called the in between and not of the afterlife. Yes it is a place where some go in the afterlife so I guess in a sense I may be, but I am the Princess of the Underworld. Daughter of Hades and Persaphone. A never known to history goddess, the goddess of rebirth. Though I can only grant rebirth to people from other worlds into this one and grant ones from this world to others."

"So that answers my question as to if the gods and goddesses over saw all universes." Jakub said.

"Being a young goddess though I am only able to bring very limited amounts of people from other worlds here. You two will be my only two for several years. I can grant you entire new lives as I have since bringing you here. My father on the other hand creates shells… empty heartless murderous beings. Grim's are the things us gods and goddesses of the underworld can grant our people. Others grant different types of creatures or abilities. Reapers drop soul gems when they die in that world which I am sure you've noticed. If you allow your Grim to consume them they will grow stronger. You two must know that I am on your side. I did not set you up for failure as I do not want my father out of the underworld. He is very dangerous and could possibly destroy this world if allowed out."

Jakub was pacing back and forth trying to collect his thoughts. "Explain to us what exactly is special about this world."

Elena sighed once more. "This world was driven forward in technology by the gods. We implanted people with the ideas for research and creations. We made sure that everything stayed at a fast pace. Loki that damned Norse god… we were trying to advance humans technologically and that's when he played scientist and pretended to find the soul mana within humans. He created the locator so that humans could awaken soul powers. It was only supposed to be technology that advanced and now a high number in the population have magic like abilities. This world was a place to test the limits of humans and the speed at which they could adapt. Now some gods and goddesses are trying to tap the human soul force for their gains, to make them more powerful amongst gods. And that goes for my father also, he wants to tear down the veil, escape from the underworld and drain all the soul mana. If he does that it could destroy this universe."

"What… the… hell…" Emily said in a shocked tone.

"This is a lot to think about." Jakub said

"You two have to stop the heartless from tearing the veil down."

Jakub and Emily stood next to each other just looking out over the ocean. "So much for just a life with powers huh?" Jakub said.

"Yeah…" Emily replied

"I can't talk any longer. Please you two I am on your side, you have to trust me. I'll find a way to come there, my father is sealed here but I am not. Good luck." Elena stated

Nicole looked over and saw the two of them a little distance away standing beside one another looking over the ocean. "Look at the two love birds."

"Awww they're cute." Light said

Amaya sat balled up on the sand. She had taken her shoes off so she could play in the sand with her feet. She stared down in pain, she wanted to see her father again. Tucking her head into her knees she quietly started crying.

"This is ridiculous… we got pulled into a deity conflict and are expected to be useful in it?" Emily said angrily

"It's okay… at least we have each other for this. You, me and the others can do this." Jakub smiled

Jakub nervously reached his hand toward Emily's as she watched the stars. He put her hand into his and grasped it. "I'll always be by your side."
