Chapter 3 - Meeting The Empress Dowager

From what I've been studying, there were five kingdoms on the original continent. Each kingdom was infested with constant war for each others, and it was Poinsettia, I, the predecessor who united them and declared one empire. Poinsettia, I with Begonia in the east, Dendrobium in the west, Kalanchoe in the south and Phalaenopsis in the north, renamed to Daria, located at the center of the kingdoms and the heart of the continent.

In the case of Daria's 1st Princess, the previous owner of the body I took was unwanted by her own father and everyone in the empire for her weak heart though she was respected by other kingdoms. Emperor Adonis and the Empress of the Marquis of Asclepias. The Empress's golden silk like hair resembled the most beautiful sun and it was said that she received so much love from the Emperor.

But then, I remembered when a rumor spread that the Emperor tried to gave Empress the same poison with the one he gave to me. I pondered if he was the real killer or there was someone behind everything, since the Empress Dowager was the only one left.

A request came to me once I opened my eyes, "The Empress Dowager asked to have a breakfast together." I wondered if she wanted to kill me in front of her own eyes. I walked with the thought would I be resistant to poison since I've been consuming it since I was young. I stopped in front of a huge golden door, definitely from pure gold with millions of pure white diamonds embedded on every corners, stood tall as if proud of it's majesty.

"Princess Poinsettia has arrived," announced the head butler. The enormous door slowly opened without any creaking noise. "Sister! You come!" The blonde haired girl who held my hand and cried loudly last time called for me to sit next to her with a happy smiley face. "Princess Poinsettia, it's been a while. I'm sorry to hear about what happened to you. How do you feel now?" The Empress Dowager asked with a hurry tone. 'Now you want to play as a caring grandmother? I bet you feel so frustrated seeing me so healthy and breathing,' said my mind.

"Forgive me to make everyone worry for my condition, but I'm very healthy now. Very healthy that it's enough to get rid of pile of maids who neglected my diet," I answered.

CLANG!

A sound of fallen tray caught attention, the maid behind me apologized as she trembled while serving soup in front of me. Such a pleasant feeling, to have someone trembled in fear because of me.

"Bring out a new meal for the princess." A platinum haired man who had never opened his mouth until then ordered a maid to serve me a new meal. He looked cold but he seemed sincere, he was the 1st Prince whom came into my room with the blonde friendly guy, the 2nd Prince.

The maid hurriedly took back my soup but dropped some eating utensils. "It's alright. I don't want to eat anything more because I have lost my appetite," I glared down at the maid. "By the way, I didn't know that my brother was so caring. I thought you were uninterested on me to the extent of avoiding eye contact." "What do you mean?" The 1st Prince made a frown expression. "Stop." The Empress Dowager meddling in. "How can you two argue during the meal time and in front of your grandmother?" I thought to myself, why did she call for such troublesome meal if it wasn't her trying to find out if I had gone crazy as the rumor said and if I lost my memories or possessed since I had changed so much.

After the burdensome meal over, Empress Dowager requested for a chat with me in the palace garden. The palace garden was belong to the Emperor and no one could entered unless received permission from the Emperor, even I never stepped into the garden. The blonde haired girl, Lobelia looked at me with her sad cat eyes as if she didn't want to let me off. "Sister, let's play tea party in my room later." "I'll think about it," I said. 'What an annoying clingy girl.'

"Princess." The Empress Dowager's voice woke me up from my thoughts about Lobelia. "Your deceased father must have been feeling very sorry for couldn't protect the princess. I'm sorry too," she said in a sad tone. I felt nothing at all, it was nothing to be sad for. I was disgusted at how good these people with their acting. None of them visited me or the previous Poinsettia when she was lying in a dying condition. Now that right here, where I was standing, everyone became apologetic and worried for this body condition. Where's the lie?

However, I noticed something during the meal time. Everyone have golden like hair and green eyes, the Princes and Princess Lobelia, even the Empress Dowager. So I thought that my deceased low life mother must has a black hair. But even so, I was appointed as the successor of the empire. Why? There's only one possible scenario, the low life mother of mine was not low life at all. The Emperor was known to had another woman as the empress after my mother passed away and based on how the two princes and Princess Lobelia look, they were all younger than me. It meant that my mother was the previous Empress and these blonde haired kids were born from next Empress. I heard once how Empress Dowager hated my mother because she had black hair that looked dirty in her eyes and opposed their marriage.

'Is she going to kill me like the way she killed my mother?'

"It's alright, Your Majesty. There were more important things to be done than his own dying daughter," I responded to her apologetic words. The Empress Dowager gave a brief look of surprise upset, then quickly turned her head away. "I guess it's true that the Princess has changed," she said. "Before, the princess was afraid of the Emperor and had never speak out. The Emperor was worried about you. When I see 1st Princess, I think of Belladonna. It was hard for me to see you," she added.

'Can I puke?'

Belladonna was the name of my deceased mother, the 1st Empress. "I admit that when the princess was young, I couldn't afford to look after her because I was still mourning for Belladonna. It was difficult for the Emperor too," the Empress Dowager continued. It was really an unpleasant feeling as listening to the deep stories of a person I didn't know well and besides, it's boring. "But now that the princess is here, standing healthily, I want to tell you how I, your grandmother and your father, the Emperor love you. Will you give this old woman one more chance and do things you and the Emperor never done?" The Empress Dowager looked at me.

'Huh? What now?' Before I could processed any of her words, she continued. "I'm going to restore your title as a Princess."
