When Polemos awoke the next day he awoke to a glaring headache as well as being blinded by the sun. As he slowly got into a seated position.
'Gods my damn head hurts, and why does the sun hate me so, so bright in the morning….wait where am I? Why am I not in a tent?' When Polemos was finally able to get his bearings and see where his current location was he was surprised and a little embarrassed as he was by the water source but also saw a crowd of the slaves that fished in it.
Polemos was a little confused until he remembered that he was still atop of Rose's head and rubbed the back of his head and greeted the crowd.
"Um, hello everyone I'd like to introduce my partner Rose. She is very friendly, and if you remember it's me, Polemos." When Polemos introduced both Rose and himself he wasn't expecting the reaction from the crowd as they fell to their knees and bowed their heads, shaking in fear.
When Polemos saw this he was confused, baffled, and angry. Before Polemos even left to go and train himself they never acted this way when he fished with Elder Spear some of them would even give him tips on fishing as well. Polemos put his fist to his head and shook it in an exasperated manner.
"Why are you guys doing this, I wouldn't even harm any of you, get up. Some of you should at least recognize me when I was fishing with Elder Spear. If I scare you that much then I guess I'll just leave then." Polemos was upset but was able to get over it pretty easily as he didn't really have that much of a relationship with any of the other slaves.
Polemos rose to his feet and stretched, hearing multiple popping noises as he did. 'Oh well, not that it really matters to me, damn from where the sun is currently. It's near the afternoon and I missed my morning routine.'
When the crowd of slaves heard what the Cursed Devil said they didn't know whether to believe him or not as when they all woke today everyone was gathered by the Tribe Leader as he had an announcement. He spoke about how a Cursed Devil with purple eyes riding on a centipede came to the tribe to destroy it. And when the slaves who fished saw that Cursed Devil they were scared but when some in the crowd heard the Cursed Devil say he was Polemos they were even more shocked.
Polemos ignored the crowd as he jumped off of Rose's head and continued stretching as he mumbled to himself.
'Should I head for a run or should I work on my basics with my gear, I should just do both screw it. I need to get used to using the new heavy axe anyway. I don't need to get fucked when using it.' Polemos ignored the slaves as he talked to himself, then when he heard Rose start to stir he smiled and greeted her.
"Well good morning Rose, thank you for yesterday as I was very out of it." Then Polemos pointed behind her. "Those are the slaves I told you about but apparently they are terrified of us so we'll just head to my original camp."
Rose slowly rose as she shook herself and hissed in order to greet Polemos and when she noticed him pointing behind her, she tilted her head slightly and swiveled her head in its direction with a small hiss.
"Sssss."
When the slaves saw the Giant Centipede turn to look at them all of them went pale, some fell on their ass, and some screamed in fear as they tried to run away. Rose just looked at them in confusion as she tilted her head back and forth, then looked back to Polemos ignoring them.
"Ahhhhh, yeah I feel the same, let's just head out as I got some planning as well as needing to finish reading Elder Spears journal as I was only able to read a few pages worth. Alright let's go, just follow after me, I need to at least start my morning run, haha." Polemos sighed in the beginning but smiled as he was eager to start his plans.
But before Polemos or Rose could head out they heard a soft and shaking voice call out to Polemos.
"Ho-hold on, ple-please don't leave y-yet you said you knew El-Elder Spear."
Polemos was a little surprised when one of the slaves called out to him as he turned around and saw a young, skinny youth with deep and sunken eyes, and thin straw like hair.
"Yes I did say I knew Elder Spear, why do you ask…." Polemos made a gesture trying to ask for the slaves name.
"Ah sorry I wasn't given a name, only a number I'm 32. He was a very kind man. He talked about you often when you left. He even left me his spear."
32 wasn't able to explain anymore as Polemos grabbed his shoulders, scaring 32 making him look into Polemos's purple eyes.
Polemos spoke in a very serious and low voice.
"What did you say 32?"
32 answered in a shaky voice.
"I, I ha-have his, his spear. I even remember the day because it was the last I saw him." 32 didn't dare to lie as when he saw the look in his purple eyes it scared him thinking about what the Tribe Leader said this morning. Then he quickly remembered what Elder Spear told him when he gave him his spear.
"He, he also asked me to give you his spear when you came back, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I just remembered please don't kill me." 32 broke down in tears as he slumped to the ground shaking in fear.
"Why would you think I would kill you for something like that, get up and stop crying Gods, I'm not a monster….I'm a Cursed Devil remember. Get up 32." Polemos reached out with his hand in order to help 32 get back onto his feet but, instead of taking his hand he shrunk back in fear.
When Polemos saw his reaction he sighed wondering if he could use this to his advantage but thought otherwise as he tossed a small water ball to 32 to wake him from his uncalled for fear. When 32 felt the cold water hit him he screamed in shock.
"Ahahahahaha…."
After 32 stopped screaming and was able to cool his head slightly, he looked up to see Polemos with a devil-like smile on his face as he spoke.
"Awake now? Good, now I don't have all day to care for you crying and acting like a child throwing a tantrum. I'll wait here to practice my basics as you go grab Elder Spears' spear and anything else he gave to you before he was killed." Polemos had no emotion in his voice as he told 32 to go and grab whatever Elder Spear gave him.
"Y-yes I'll go, go quickly master." 32 ran away as fast as he could in both relief and fear as he even went as far as to call him master. Even Polemos was a little surprised and froze as he was expecting him to call him master. He stood there like a statue til he felt Rose poke him with her antenna. Polemos just shook his head after Rose poked him as he smiled and turned to Rose whose head was just tilted to the side.
"Well guess we will wait, I'll practice with my heavy axe while if you want you can swim or relax in the sand til 32 comes back. Can't believe he called me master, I'm not a master of anything nor his actual owner."
Polemos just sighed as he pulled his new heavy axe from one of the new rings he bought from Carl. When he felt the axe in his hand he was shocked by how much it weighed as well as the design of the axe, his original axe was a silver steel plain looking axe with a sharp edge. This new one had a handle made from a solid black heavy wood, while the head was in the style of a bearded axe. The metal it was made from looked to be black iron with a sharp edge as the head was also heavy.
"Damn it feels like it weighs about 12-15 kilos. I definitely need to get used to the weight otherwise I would have really been screwed. It also feels nice in the hand plus with the bearded style I can change up my patterns to." Polemos was very satisfied and happy with his new axe as he started to train with it but quickly noticed how much of a difference the weight made for the training.
Polemos didn't have to wait that long as he was about only a quarter of the way through his weapons practice when 32 arrived, holding a spear in his hands and nothing else. When Polemos saw 32 he came to a stop as he only put his hand out, Polemos wasn't in the mood to talk to 32 again.
When 32 saw Polemos's outstretched hand he didn't hesitate to quickly put Elder Spears' spear into his hand and quickly flee trying to get away from the Cursed Devil of the tribe.
When Polemos felt Elder Spears' spear in his hand he slowly closed it into a tight grip as he closed his eyes and took a very deep breath in order to calm a very fierce fury that was building since he heard of Elder Spear being killed.
'It won't be long, just hold it til then. His wings will soar soon enough and it'll be a very wonderful sight to see.' Polemos said quietly to himself as he put Elder Spears' spear into his necklace as he took another deep breath and proceeded to finish his training.
