Chapter 9 - Getting The Hoodlums 2

Rebecca and her aunt had finished their meal and had gone to the garden beside the house.

' the serenity of this place is so refreshing' Rebecca said breathing in deeply, admiring the wonderful sight.

She loved the scent of the flowers.

' aunt, when did you do all this?' Rebecca said taking a look around. This is what she gets for keeping such distance

' few weeks back. I knew you'd love it.' Aunt Chloe replied

' of course, it's amazing. I love it! You've got the best taste ever aunt, I love you!'

' I love you too darling' her aunt, Chloe replied

They sat on the chaise lounge. Just then, Aunt Chloe took out a box from only God knows where and handed it over to Rebecca.

Rebecca open the box gently. There was a jewelry in it. It was a large, circular, blue pendant.

'If I were to guess right, this would be blue topaz' she thought

' aunt....' she called not finding the right words to express herself.

' Becca, that is our family heirloom. It was passed on to me from your grandmother' Aunt Chloe explained

' I don't know why, but I've been meaning to give it to you for a while now... you're that daughter I never had, and I just wanted you to be the one to have it.'

' thanks Aunt. It really is so precious and valuable' Rebecca said

' of course it is. The stone is Topaz and this particular one is rare, it is said to be the bringer of goodwill and protection. It's also a symbol of love and affection'

Rebecca needed no one to tell her how valuable the heirloom was. It was indeed a precious piece.

They chatted and talked about so many things till it was evening, then Rebecca drove back home.

In the interrogation room, FBI boss Roger Wells is interrogating one of the guys that was involved in the attempted murder of Kol McClain.

He had earlier interrogated the other two and couldn't get any reasonable information out of them.

' so Cass, tell me all you know about this guy you work with' Agent Wells asked Cass

' what makes you think I'll tell you anything?' Cass asked a bit sarcastic. He wasn't even sober, without an iota of regret

Agent Wells laughed softly

' I'm fully convinced that your boss knows you guys are here. And you must be pretty dumb to think he'll come save you'

' and you must be dumb to think I care. Besides, I don't know anything. I don't have any information you might need.' Cass replied

' look, I want you to understand that every piece of information you provide counts. If you tell me all you know, I might be able to help you get out of here' Agent Wells said to him

And once again, the interrogation was futile. David was just standing outside the interrogation room listening to the whole conversation. Sadly, it was another futile one.

Agent Wells came out of the room and walked towards him.

' Mr David' Agent Wells called shaking hands with David

' investigation continues, we'll get to the root of this.' Agent Wells assured

' thank you so much Agent Wells. Always keep me updated on any latest development' David said finally and departed.

Kol was busy sorting out some files in his study.

Tiffany and Amy had earlier gone to the park to catch some fun. He had earlier called the security operatives who were assigned to accompany them to confirm if everything was okay, and it was.

He couldn't imagine that they'd have to go through this again. He had gone through a lot as the heir of the McClain Empire. He had watched several things unfold, and still are.

His parents had compelled Tiffany and him to attend training sessions on defense since he was 15 years old, Tiffany was 12 then. They were being trained in combat

' I wonder if I hadn't gone through all that' he thought to himself

He scoffed rubbing his forehead

Then he used to think everything was punishment. He hated the classes more than anything else that he could give anything to stay away from the training sessions

Tiffany was worse. She'd scream at everyone and throw tantrums because she couldn't have what she wanted. If she were to have her way, she would make sure she didn't have to go through the process of attending any combat classes

Kol only understood that which his parents kept speaking of when an attempt was made on his life not long after he clocked 18

That evening, on his way to a friend's birthday party, he was attacked by some unknown men. Sounds of gunshots filled the atmosphere

Thank his lucky stars Tiffany didn't come along that very day, she wasn't feeling well. So he didn't have an obligation to protect anybody, all he had to do was keep himself safe.

And the fact that he was with his bodyguards was also an added advantage. They became alert immediately they sensed danger and swung into action.

Kol seemed to be the target of the bad guys, they kept aiming at him.

All the bodyguards cared about was bringing Kol out of there alive.

Thank God he only sustained a few injuries. He wasn't able to dodge all the bullets aimed at him

His mother went mad when she got to the knowledge of what had happened. Those guards were regarded as incompetent, and dismissed immediately. He couldn't do anything about it. He might probably have died if not for the fact that they were there to protect him, he knew. He wished his parents could see it that way.

Those guys were caught, they were really in bad shape. But what surprised him till now is the fact that they never mentioned whom they worked with.

Ever since, he started taking his combat classes seriously. As he aged, over the years, he realized that it was harder to assassinate him at every attempt.

Just then, his phone rang. It was an unknown number

He picked up the phone and answered the call. Then he listened to the caller, as if trying to figure out from the voice who it is

' hey Kol' he heard over the phone and at once, recognized the voice

' last time I checked, I asked you never to reach out to me again. What do you want, Trish? Isn't what you did to me just enough? You left me Trish, you were just so selfish, you never cared about how I felt, you treated me like trash' Kol yelled over the phone. He didn't even give her the avenue to air her views. To him, all she had to say was crap, bullshit.

He knew Trish so well, that she would never concede even if she were to be wrong, talk more of apologizing. Why was she apologizing now? Not except she needed something from him.

He doesn't give a fuck whatever she wanted.

' I hope you're not thinking of getting back together with me, because the probability of that ever happening is a zero' Kol said, he was losing it already

' do you despise me that much, huh? I said I'm sorry. I should never have...' she tried saying but was interrupted by Kol

' you know what Trish, just the sound of your voice disgusts me, to the extent that I want to puke. I don't want to hear from you ever again. I don't deal with sellouts!' he said finally hanging up the phone.
