Chapter 16 - Intervention

Following his interview with Darla Imni and clarifying details, they talked about what steps Darla had taken, if any, to resolve her issue. After a long conversation (and immense disappointment on Travis' side), they worked out exactly how Darla wanted to proceed. Travis decided that Darla's was a special case given her circumstances and sent for help to the only person who he was sure he could trust with her case.

To Department Administrator Lilian Rosemary, Triparte Guilds Staff Oversight Department, Guild Master Travis Vorn, Evaidas Guild Branch, sends greetings.

Rather than meet with you directly, I send to you through a letter to meet and discuss in confidentiality a harassment and abuse case that I am afraid has been mishandled and ignored for far too long. Darla Imni, our newest and youngest employee, has reported that her mentor Jerald Outre, has on several occasions this cycle:

Stared at her face for unreasonable lengths of time

Pulled her aside after work sessions to discuss matters outside of their professional capacities

Insisted on close familiarity, including calling her by her first name and occasionally patting her back and shoulder, despite numerous requests to cease and desist

Repeatedly suggested that he may tutor her on a range of topics unrelated to their professional capacities

Created opportunities for them to be alone

Needless to say, I am very seriously concerned. Ms Imni has avoided Mr Outre where possible and keeping their correspondence as scarce and short as reasonable, however constant contact is inevitable. I have arranged for Ms Imni to be transferred to another department and have scrutinised every mentor and officer there as much as possible, should she wish to proceed with such, and a timeline of these events is currently in the process of drafting by myself and Ms Imni. I have also arranged for a legal expert and a counsellor after a thorough review to ensure that she gets the support that she deserves.

How urgently, in your professional opinion, should I escalate my concerns? Is there any possibility that such events may be connected by others to draw the same conclusion that I have, thus breaking Ms Imni's personal confidence, and is there any possibility that I may have to take immediate, executive action without the conference and approval of Ms Imni?

Kind regards,

Travis Vorn
