[NOUR]
Despite Ferhat constantly bugging him to go to the palace, and learn of what was happening, Nour Abdallah had refused. He knew that this was about Alanor and he was aware that the rogues were doing things that got them on the wrong side of the law.
Granted, Nour was the Ruby wolf and was meant to go and fight the rogue, but he had other things that got him preoccupied. He really wanted to help, but then if Alanor didn't step in… Perhaps this wasn't the war for him.
He would come to this later on; after all, he fought for vengeance and not the immediate stoppage of shit. That was the role of his father, the werewolf king, and the council he already had.
"Nour… Say something," Anhora said to his best friend. They were currently in Grant's house, relaxing while Nour waited for Grant. In the past week, his mate had been busy with the issue of the rogues and frankly, he felt baked for Grant.
However, there were just some things that needed better attention. Nour wasn't going to do shit this time. If anything, Delbert and the Lycans in the kingdom would find a way to clean up the mess, and if they couldn't Alanor would show up.
His best friend always showed up regardless of what was happening.
"Y'know what he said to me? He really came and told me… 'Someday, little Burda. Someday it'll be my bed you'll rest in.' How the fuck was I supposed to respond to that? If you were me, how would you?" Nour asked instead.
Anhora had spent the past few days trying to get his best friend to understand that they were doing this for a reason. Hell, Nour himself was being the Ruby wolf for a reason.
From the persistence that the apparent omega was giving him, he could tell that Delbert hadn't told them that Nour was the ruby wolf. Perhaps that was a secret that the junior warrior, Delbert, had been helping to keep for long.
Well, Nour didn't exactly care whether he came clean to Anhora or not.
The statement that Delbert had told him, had been stuck in his mind for long, and if he was being honest, it was the only reason he hadn't gone even to the omega quarters to attend to his duties.
How the fuck would he focus when the entire time, his focus had been on Delbert and Delbert only. You would think that the mad Lycan twin was using some magic on the young prince. But was he?
"It's no secret that you're his erasthai. All you have to do is accept his body and everything will be set. You won't ever have to suffer or even hide your true identity to anyone," Anhora said, when he figured that Nour wasn't going to stop.
He knew what it meant to have so many questions that no one could answer. He knew that this wasn't easy for Nour but then it wasn't like Delbert had been complicating the damn bond. If anything, Delbert had simply been open with Nour all the time.
Maybe it was Nour's turn to see what he wanted and let the Lycan know, right?
"You don't have to explain yourself. I shouldn't even be mad at you, because I have hidden from everyone that I'm the crown prince, and that I have a wolf; the strongest of all the wolves in this damned pack.
"I guess I just didn't know how to respond when I saw you there. It all felt like an illusion and with Delbert confusing me even more, I didn't know where I stood. I should be the one apologizing," Nour said earnestly and Anhora just listened.
He was aware that Nour hated being told that it was okay, when he was in the wrong and while it was tempting, he couldn't say that to the prince. They would just figure this out on their own at the end of the day.
"So, we're good?" Anhora asked hopefully.
"Of course," Nour said as he fist-bumped the Lycan warrior.
"Great… because it was really hard working with the omegas without you. At least with your feisty state, they wouldn't do shit. Right now, it feels like the world is going around and I'm not a part of it.
"Being an omega sucks but what else can I do for this mission anyway. At least I'll have you, right?" Anhora asked hopefully and Nour just let out a fit of laughter. There were so many things that they could do, but then they had to be patient.
"This is awkward as hell… can we go back to being the friends we were, before we knew secrets about each other that are so disturbing that if they are released into Acrod, the kingdom would come crashing?" Nour said and Anhora chuckled.
"That is way better. With that sorted, I have to go back and be the greatest omega while you come and be the worst of them," Anhora laughed and Nour just nodded in understanding with a smile playing on his lips.
Anhora wasn't wrong.
For someone who was supposed to be playing mega, Nour had been too vocal and had managed to make so many enemies. There was no telling whether he would ever survive the cruel omega pits, but then they had to wait it out, right?
"Alright… you be careful, Anhora. I don't know how I would live with the omegas without you. So you must survive whatever the fuck is going on wherever. You're all I got," Nour said dramatically, and Anhora just laughed before he left.
****
Left alone in Grant's house, Nour was glad that he and Anhora had made up. It wasn't something that he had thought of fucking over, but then secrets always had a way of screwing so many lives.
It didn't matter that the world was a shell on its own. What mattered was that the friends were no longer tiptoeing around each other. They were scary in part, but then at the end of the day, life would be better, right?
"He likes me?" Nour asked himself as he tidied up the house. He wasn't sure what the fuck he was supposed to do with that, but he was bothered. A little too bothered by the fact that Delbert liked him, and that Delbert smelt like safety more than Grant.
Maybe he would just give his heart a chance, yeah?
"Of course… I love you," Grant said, interrupting Nour, making the wolf intentionally shriek to make sure that the enforcer thought that he was startled. As if he just remembered that Grant had werewolf hearing, Nour made sure to trigger his heartbeats.
Oh, but he was doing the most for a man he didn't trust. Maybe he had really changed, or maybe enforcer Grant was just too busy worrying about Alanor Wynter to even think of him. It wasn't something that Nour could put past Grant anyway.
Today, the enforcer was in his official clothing and there was no denying that he looked hot as hell, and like the one man that men and women would want alone.
However, as if in passing, Nour couldn't help but wonder what Delbert Cornell looked like in his official clothes.
Was that too much for a wolf to ask?
"What??" Nour asked as if his mind had finally caught up to his heart.
"You… You love me?" Nour added sheepishly.
