Chapter 46 - I Don't Wanna Lose You Now

* Happy New Year 2024!!! Updates will be every Monday and Friday without fail.

[NOUR]

When Nour woke up, he was in Grant's chamber, in his bed and covered warmly.

It was almost like the enforcer finally saw him for who he was and was choosing him, but then Nour wasn't the kind to believe in fantasies. That was more of a far fetch than the fact that he had had a terrible dream about Delbert having a wife and a family.

He wasn't sure what he expected, but the fact that it hurt him to know that the man was married was fucking him up. He wasn't sure why but the thought of Delbert going to bed with someone else when the day ended just didn't sit right with Nour.

It was screwing him over.

Maybe he was being delusional, but what the fuck was he supposed to do with that feeling?

"Hey, you're awake. Thank goodness. I thought… I thought you left me, fuck," Grant ranted as Nour stared at him with blank eyes. He wasn't sure what he was supposed to say or do when it came to the mat that despised him.

He didn't want to anger Grant and he didn't want to get a beating, because this time, he was certain he would blow his cover if this wolf tried to kill him again. He would put an end to the man's life and he would feel shit about it.

"Wh… What happened? Why am I here? The ruby wolf... Is he…" Nour responded, the fear in his voice as he looked at the werewolf enforcer, fear written on his face like this was the rawest emotion that he could muster at the moment.

He looked scared and that seemed to tug at Grant's heart because the enforcer gently sat Nour up and pulled him into a hug. He seemed to not want to see Nour in pain which was strange for a man who had been vocal about abuse.

"It's okay, butterfly. It's okay, my little love. He won't hurt you again," Grant said and Nour felt himself melt at the simple show of affection that he had never gotten despite craving it for months on end.

They had been mated for two months now and it had been the roughest two months of Nour's life. He wasn't sure he would want a repeat of the same nightmarish two months that he wanted to forget.

However here with Grant, he would feel his wolf loving the contact.

It felt safe, despite the endless alarm bells ringing in his head. Nour was tired of running away, or pretending that everything would be his fault in the end. Sure, he would set a time to cry it out, but right now, he wanted to stay here for a little longer.

He wanted to lean into Grant, but he was scared that the enforcer would try to push him away. As it was, he wasn't sure where he stood with the man who was still in love with his best friend.

Perhaps there would come a day when Grant looked at him for him and not for the shell he had turned him into, right?

"I thought I'd never see you again. He said he would kill you if I told you what he did to me. That's why I was scared. I didn't expect him to tell me to go to the ball. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to ruin your night," Nour said as he wiped the tears that had formed.

He had made the difficult decision to be the omega the enforcer knew for a while, and let himself be fragile even though it was so unlike him. He wanted to be loved, to be held and more than anything, he wanted to forget the dream he had the previous night.

He didn't want to hope for anything when it came to Delbert and he needed to rest and the only way to do that was to be whatever Grant wanted, even if it meant being silent all the time.

"Oh dear… you're safe, my butterfly. You're safe. I won't let anyone hurt you again. No one will take you away from me, okay?" Grant asked as he pulled back from the hug, before cupping Nour's face in his hands.

They were huge compared to Nour's and the young prince felt his heart fluttering. He could see the beautiful dark eyes staring back at him and he wasn't sure what breathing was anymore.

Grant looked so perfect, so beautiful, so handsome and so unreal. Being this close to the enforcer made Nour want to have a taste of the mate the goddess had given him. He wanted to see for himself if there was a chance that he could be a normal mate.

"Can I?" Grant asked as he looked at Nour's pink plump lips that were staring invitingly at him. He was currently running his thumb on Nour's lips and it was more than obvious what he wanted to do.

Funny how this time he was asking for consent. It was hot though, seeing as they both seemed to have let their guards down for this moment, perhaps this would be the beginning of a new adventure as mates.

"What if you don't like the way I taste? What if it annoys you? What if I'm really not good enough for you? What if I am nothing like what you always wanted for a mate? What if—" Nour asked, his lips trembling against Grant's thumb.

He wasn't sure what this was, but he was letting himself be fragile with the enforcer. Ever since he had known that Grant had just chosen him because he couldn't have Alanor, Nour had grown insecure.

He didn't hate his best friend, but he knew he was no match for the youngest Merdel twin. He knew Alanor would always be better, and his mate had always made him feel like that. Maybe this time, the enforcer wouldn't push him away, right?

"I'm sorry, if I made you feel inadequate, my butterfly. I was just dealing with a lot and I lashed out at you. I didn't mean to, I swear it, baby. You don't have to worry about anything or how you are with me.

"You don't have to worry about your scent, your smell, your abilities, your inabilities, your perfections, or even your imperfections. I know I haven't been the best but the goddess paired us for a reason, my little butterfly.

"It doesn't matter what happened back then, I will be a good mate to you. I'm not telling you this because I want to kiss your beautiful lips and taste you all over, but because I want us to start over," Grant said sincerely, that Nour could feel his heart thumping.

It was risky for him but for a new beginning, he was choosing to trust the enforcer. Maybe they would be better, after all, it's not like there was anything that could be worse than what had already happened.

His fate had been sealed.

"I love you," Nour whispered and Grant couldn't take it anymore. So instead of responding, he confessed through his kiss. It was a possessive kiss, one that contained so many promises even as their lips battled for dominance.

Nour let Grant dominate him and he loved it. It made him feel like this was what heaven felt like. He loved the sparks that had erupted between them, and how Grant was kissing, nibbling, and biting his lips.

He loved how their tongues played against each other as they explored each other's mouths to the point that they were breathless. Even then they tried to keep on for a little longer. This felt real, like closure and like love, but would Grant say it?

"I love you, so much, my little butterfly," Grant said as he began kissing Nour on the neck, the place where he would mark him.

At first, Nour freaked out. He couldn't imagine this monster marking him, not when there was a lot they hadn't fixed between them. They may have chosen to start over but some scars hadn't healed and would take some time to heal.

It wasn't going to be easy, but maybe, just maybe there would be a way out for them, right?

"Don't worry, my butterfly. I will mark you, when you are ready, and not a second later. For now, please, let me hold you," Grant said gently.
