[GRANT]
The tensions between the werewolf rogues and the factions were increasing and if Cassius wasn't careful, he would have a mass grave to run instead of a kingdom, thanks to what was currently happening.
The werewolf king was in the throne room, with the vampires of Asteta, Grant, Delbert, and some of the warriors of Acrod.
They seemed to be talking about something essential, but their faces were saying something else. They all were angry, and more than anything, they were worried about what would happen next.
Peace was the probable option, but as they sat there in that throne room, it didn't look like an option to the vampire who was pissed as fuck, and looked like she wanted to choke Cassius with her own hands.
"We need to stop the killings, Zelina. This is not doing us both any good," King Cassius said, in his attempt to reason with the overly pissed vampire warrior.
She was well within her rights and the accords of the Midlands to be here with Cassius, but the more she looked at his face and listened to him, the more Zelina wanted to bash him.
"Are you fucking serious right now, Cassius?" Zelina asked the werewolf king who just sighed. He had been thinking of how to end what was going on, but even he knew he couldn't do it so instantly.
"Come on Zelina. More lives are being lost from both ends, and the longer we sit here without a solution, the longer the midlands are in danger. I didn't think you wanted that," Cassius said and Grant just looked at Zelina.
He understood her, and while Cassius was Grant's king, today, Grant hoped that he understood where Zelina was coming from. The midlands had been at war, since the mating ceremony and it was majorly the werewolves and the vampires.
The leaders had tried to meet but each time the result was the same. None of them had a better solution and today, Zelina had reached her limits with the werewolf king.
"I sent you fucking letters Cassius. I told you what your rogue werewolves are doing to my people, but what did you do, huh? You fucking sat back while your stupid wolves bit the vampire children and killed them.
"It was a sport for them and you want me to stop murdering them? I am not stopping, not anytime soon. If you want to put an end to this, rule your wolves. Last I checked, you're the king of all werewolves, both rogues and pack wolves.
"So you fix that," Zelina said as she angrily slammed the table she was currently seated on. She hated that the children were involved in this and the fact that Alanor hadn't even shown up, meant there was something wrong.
She was worried on two fronts, even though the second front was easier than the one they were experiencing now.
The fact that Alanor had been a no-show for two weeks was weird, and that alone made Zelina furious. And then the werewolves too? Goddess, she wanted to break things apart.
If only Cassius had listened to her when she had sent the first warning she may have been a vampire and an undead, but Zelina believed that life was precious and people needed to live peacefully.
She was a woman who had no issues with killing people, but she hated that children were being involved.
The rogue wolves were doing more damage than she had expected and now, the only thing standing head between her and Cassius was the damn accord, and if the goddess didn't strike her down, because she was losing her mind in here.
"We'll try negotiating with them. They have taken over the midlands forest, except for the southern forest. We are trying to ask them what it is they want—" Grant said and Zelina looked at him angrily.
He couldn't be serious now, could he? Negotiate with the people who were ruining others' lives? What was he going to do, huh? Plead with them to please stop attacking the vamps? It was insane.
No one really knew what had prompted the ferals to attack the vamps, of all the creatures in the factions. It was dangerous and it was uncalled for.
If Alanor was there, he would have made sure that none of the ferals even lived past the hour. But he wasn't here, and that was another terrorizing truth to them all.
"Trying to negotiate? What the hell am I supposed to tell the mothers huh? My people have to go to bed in fear of the fucking werewolves, and the stupid beast of the midlands is nowhere to be seen.
"If I get my hands on that creature, I'll deal with him first before I deal with the damned wolves. Your people are hurting my people and you want to call for peace? You're sick, that's the only thing I can say" Zelina said as she paced around the throne room.
She looked deadly as fuck and with her bangs flailing on her face, she looked like she could strike down anyone.
Her angry stares at the king were making the warriors antsy, and so they positioned themselves like they were ready to strike.
But Zelina wasn't even scared of them, she had seen enough deaths over the years and the only way this bunch of idiots would take her down, was if they fought her, and boy did she know how to fight.
She hadn't survived long just by grace, but by fighting back, and well.
The other werewolf warriors were ready to strike Zelina down if anything happened to their king, but Grant knew that would be the worst idea in the whole of the Midlands.
And that was because Alanor would burn down Acrod to avenge Zelina, and that would be more blood spilled that would be necessary.
Grant had learned of the bonds that Alanor shared with the hound and the vampire the moment they had walked into Acrod all those months ago and right now, he knew the dangers of harming this woman so well.
"Stop the war, Zelina," King Cassius said to Zelina, who threw her knife in his direction. She was pissed and needed to calm down and the knife she sent in Cassius's way was proof of it.
However, Grant caught it midway before it would reach the king, and that made Zelina a threat to the king of Acrod. The warriors suddenly circled Zelina, ready to do as their king ordered, about which Cassius was quiet.
He knew he had failed her, and was ready to atone for his mistakes. He knew he should have acted first when he received the first letter from the gossip master, but he had thought that it was all a trick.
The vamps and wolves sometimes pulled pranks on themselves and Cassius had assumed that. Maybe that was also why Zelina was so pissed that she wanted him dead.
Before they could do anything, the doors to the throne room opened and through them, came an angry hound.
"You lay a hand on my mate, and Acrod burns. The choice is yours," a smiley yet pissed Ulrike walked through the doors, and King Cassius let out a sigh of relief.
These two may have been the craziest bond the goddess had initiated but it was good that the only person that Zelina would ever listen to, was her mate.
"Everyone, leave us except for Grant and Delbert," King Cassius said and they all cleared the room faster than lightning.
