Chapter 8 - Chapter 08

'If I could find a man as great as Calvin..' Calista muttered to herself while exhaling heavily.

--

This afternoon, Calvino kept his promise by inviting Calista to eat at their favourite restaurant. After eating lunch, he immediately took Calista to the office and told Calista not to come home late at night.

"Okay, Vin. Be careful."

Calvino smiled and then drove the car to his office. Meanwhile, Calista walked straight to her room as she was busy with work.

Recently, Calvino has been so busy building new branches that he has neglected Calista's existence a bit.

Without his knowing, Jozh came to the office more often. And, of course, it made Calista uncomfortable because the shadow of the past keeps lurking.

Calista wanted to leave this city and went to a very far away place. Even if she had to live in a small town, she didn't care. However, she couldn't leave the responsibility she was carrying now. Moreover, she didn't want to let her brother take such a big responsibility alone.

So far, Calvino has sacrificed a lot. It was unfair to take her brother's freedom. It was appropriate for Calvino to also be happy instead of spending days with various office matters.

Thinking of her brother only makes her sad to remember Calvino's marriage was annulled in favour of her marriage with Jozh.

Calvino's love for her was bigger than his love for himself, and that's why Calista couldn't bear to put all the responsibility on her brother's shoulders.

While Calista was drowning in her own thoughts, she suddenly heard a commotion outside. She then rushed to find out and was surprised to find Jozh was fighting with her brother.

"Drag this bastard out of the building!" Calvin gave an order to security.

"Watch out, Calvino. For now, you can win. But we'll see what surprises I have prepared for your beloved sister, Calista Earle Kafeel." Jozh gave a warning.

Not wanting to deal with Jozh, who had lost his mind, Calvino was about to walk into his sister's room and was surprised to find her standing in front of the door with a sad loo.

Calvino then guided his sister in.

"Your lips are bleeding, Vin."

"Never mind, Calista. It's just a small wound." Calvin replied.

"Let me treat it first."

"No need, Calista. It's just a small wound." Calvin emphasised his word, grasped his sister's fingers, and occasionally squeezed them tightly.

"Mom and dad are back in Indonesia today. What if I take you to Bandung for a while? At least you have mom accompanying you so that you can relax." Calvino gave a suggestion.

"But, what about work?"

"Forget it, sweetie."

Without waiting long, Calvino escorted Calista back to Bandung.

Along the way, there was a car following behind, which Calvino believed was Jozh, who was driving the car. Unbeknownst to Calista, he immediately gave orders to his bodyguard to secure the bastard.

Minah, the maid, immediately greeted their arrival.

"I'm glad you are back in the house again."

"Has dad come, Minah?"

"Not yet,"

"Okay, please bring our things to the room."

"Alright."

Tonight, Calvino couldn't sleep like the previous nights because Calista often woke up in the middle of the night with cold sweat pouring down her body.

Calvino wanted to move Calista to a city far away so that his beloved sister could start a new life without any shadows of the past.

In the dining room, Calista looked gloomy. Her face was pale, and her eyes were black. Not a bite of rice went into her mouth because all this time, she was just stirring the cream of corn soup until the dinner was over.

No doubt, seeing such an attitude, Calista was being asked various questions.

"I'm fine, dad."

"Are you sure you're okay, honey?" Calista's father asked her again.

Calista nodded as the answer.

"But your face is so pale, dear. It's better just to rest and don't have to go with your brother to Jakarta. I didn't permit you to work."

"But..."

"This is my order."

"I'm just tired. I have to work, and I feel sorry for Calvin." Calista convinced her father.

"It looks like you need a new atmosphere, sweetie," Said Calvino as he looked up at Calista's face, then squeezed her nose fondly.

"Your body is warm. Are you sick?" Calvin asked her sister while touching back on Calista's forehead.

"It's nothing. I'm just tired, Vin."

"Well then, let's go!"

"But your sister is sick, Vin. It's better to stay at home. Just postpone the departure," Dreena gave advice.

"Don't worry, mom. I know what's best for this naughty girl," Calvino pinched Calista's nose again. No doubt, this ignorant attitude immediately received strong protests.

Before leaving, Calvino kissed his parents on the cheek, and half dragged Calista to his favourite car.

"What the hell is this?. I can drive my own car, don't over-treat me!" Calista protested.

"Come in!" Calvino ordered as he opened the car door.

"I'm not a little girl any m-" Calista couldn't finish her sentence because Calvino immediately covered her lips with his index finger and then shifted her body to give him space to sit.

"Let's go!" Calvin ordered.

Calista looked annoyed because she was still being treated like a child. Her lips were still pursed a few inches forward. On the other side, Calvino only glanced at her and then played with his phone to send a message to Lenata.

"Maybe you can lie to mom and dad but not with me. We are twins, sweetie. It's natural that we can feel each other's feelings."

Calista then turned her face to look at Calvino briefly and then looked away at the street.

"Smartass."

"Of course, I know. I can feel what you really feel." Calvino replied.

Not wanting to respond to Calvino's words, Calista looked out of the window again, trying to enjoy the scenery along the road she was passing.

After a long journey, the car that took them away arrived in front of a skyscraper marked with PT. Bramantara Kafeel Group. The best graduates even wanted to join and be part of the company's successful team.

Calista directly got out of the car after one of the security opened the door for her.

"Good morning Ms Calista," Calista just smiled.

"I'll pick you up at lunchtime, my dear," Calvino exclaimed from inside the car. Calista nodded then immediately walked towards the elevator that took her to her room.

"Good morning Ms Calista."

"Good morning."

"Sorry, Ms.."

Calista went straight to her secretary's desk.

"What's wrong? Tell me!" Calista asked as she was curious.

However, her secretary seemed hesitant to say, and it made Calista wonder.

"What's wrong, Rea? What important thing do you want to say? Is there a problem?"

Rea's throat felt like it was suffocating when it was showered with deadly glares from Calista's pair of brown eyes.

Before Rea could explain, Jozh was already standing behind Calista, leaning against the wall. His gaze sharpened menacingly at Rea.

Calista, who noticed Rea's change in attitude, shortly followed the direction of her secretary's gaze. And what she saw made her gasp.

"Jozh," Calista whispered.

"Good morning, honey," Jozh greeted Calista while spreading his arms, signalling to Calista to rush into his arm immediately.

But, what Jozh received was the opposite because he was directly secured by security. His body was forcibly dragged out of the building.

"If you still dare to come in this building, then we will take you to the authorities." The security snapped while pushing Jozh's body so that he fell to the floor.

"You don't know who I am, do you? I'm Jozh Mandoze, your CEO's husband."

"We don't care. Scram!"

Jozh snorted in annoyance at being treated so disrespectfully by Calista. In his heart, he promised that he would get her love back so that he could live in riches and no longer wander on the streets.
