Chapter 9 - Chapter 09

Jozh snorted in annoyance at being treated so disrespectfully by Calista. In his heart, he promised that he would get her love back so that he could live in riches and no longer wander on the streets.

--

Today, Calista's focus was split due to Jozh's presence, causing a commotion in her office. She tried to think hard about how to get Jozh out of her life.

Not wanting to continue to be immersed in her current problems, Calista immediately busied herself with work to the point of forgetting her promise to her brother.

'Oh My God, what time is it? Calvin must have been waiting for me for a long time.' Calista muttered to herself as she stepped towards the elevator that took her to the lobby. Her smile instantly widened when she found Calvino sitting on the long sofa.

"Why don't you go straight up?" Calista asked.

"I'm happier here. I can wash my eyes while looking at the beautiful models passing by. The one who just passed was beautiful," Calvin replied while raising an eyebrow.

"Watch out if you bother my model. She's the brand ambassador for the newest product that I'll be launching soon."

"It's okay to be a little annoying, right? My sweetheart Calista." Calvin teased his sister.

"You flirt, don't try to spread your charm in my office!" Calista warned because she was annoyed by her brother's ridiculous act.

"If my lovely sister is overprotective, then when will I be able to get a life partner quickly, huh?" Calvin teased Calista again while wrapping his arms around her neck, guiding her towards his beloved car.

Currently, they were in a restaurant not far from the office.

Calvino deliberately chose this place because he didn't want to make Calista tired. Their arrival instantly caught the attention of other visitors. Having a similar face and an intimate attitude makes the two of them often mistaken for a couple.

"Why is everyone looking at us?"

"Forget it. You owe me an explanation."

"What explanation?" Calista looked confused.

"Tell me, what really happened that night?"

"Never mind. Didn't I tell you that at that time, my hand was sprained? Besides, it was also a long time ago. Why do you still remember it?

"Your lips may be lying, but the look in your eyes reveals the truth."

"I know there's something you're trying to hide. Since that night, you've been waking up more often in the middle of the night because of bad dreams. If you keep silent, then I'll find out for myself, Calista." Calvino added.

Getting an unusual stare made Calista's hair grow hot. Her tears welled up in her eyes, but she tried to hold them in so that they wouldn't spill.

"Tell me the truth, or I'll find out by myself, and I'll destroy anyone who's been bothering you, Calis!" Calvino threatened.

Calista was afraid, so she chose to tell the truth, especially because she didn't want to get her beloved brother involved in a big problem.

"That night, Jozh kidnapped me," Calista whispered so Calvino couldn't hear clearly.

"What? Say it one more time!"

"Jozh kidnapped me."

Calvin's face turned red with anger after hearing what Calista had just said. He pounded the table unconsciously and made Calista gasp.

Not only Calista but the other visitors were also surprised, so they glanced and whispered.

"Bastard!" Infuriated, Calvino then cast a sharp gaze on his beloved sister.

"I'm sure I'll kill him soon!" Calvino explained, promising.

"No, Calvin. Please don't do that. I don't want you not to be okay. I don't want to ruin your reputation.

"Look how stupid you are, Calista. You've been hurt, but you're still defending him. Realise Calista, wake up!" Calvino snapped.

Calvino immediately lowered his voice, realising that lots of visitors were staring at him.

Calvino was disgusted because his beloved sister was still defending that bastard.

"Come on! Lunchtime is over, and it's time to go back to work,"

Calvino's voice tone and cold gaze made Calista filled with sadness. Without even waiting first, he just walked away to his favourite car, leaving Calista still stunned.

Along the way, no one spoke to each other until the car that took them away had arrived in front of a towering building marked PT. Bramantara Kafeel Group.

Without saying anything, Calvino immediately drove the car at high speed, while Calista just stared blankly at his brother's departure.

While Calista was busy working, her phone rang, and it turned out to be Calvino who sent a message that tonight he would pick up at 7 pm. She didn't reply to the message and ignored it.

Calista was so busy working, and she didn't even realise that the clock was heading to 09.30 at night. She then prepared to go home.

To her surprise, when she passed the lobby, Calvino was seen leaning his head on the back of the sofa with his eyes closed.

Calista exhaled heavily then approached her beloved brother. She then observed his brother's handsome face, who looked very tired.

"It's finished?" Calvino asked without opening his eyes.

'I think Calvin is overslept.' Calista thought in her heart.

"Well, sorry for making you wait a long time," Calista whispered.

Calvino immediately opened his eyes so that their gazes met. He showered his sister with a sharp glare.

"Don't you know what time it is, huh?" Calvino asked in a high tone.

Realising the discomfort surrounding Calista's beautiful face, Calvino immediately showered his younger sister with warm gazes while stroking Calista's hair with affection.

"Why did you just come home at this hour? Are you overwhelmed with the task that I gave you?"

Calista shook her head.

Calvino asked her to go home right away, not wanting to shower his sister with questions. On the way, he turned his car towards a restaurant which Calista immediately protested.

"My sweetheart is hungry, and Minah is also still in the village," Said Calvino while guiding Calista into the restaurant.

After finishing eating the dinner menu, Calvino shortly drove the car to the house. Arriving at home, he directly rubbed the top of Calista's head lovingly.

"Get some rest! We will go to Surabaya tomorrow morning."

The sentence that had just tickled Calista's ears made her twist her body, showering her brother with questioning eyes.

"To Uncle Beni's house, dear."

"What for?"

"Just a vacation. Don't you like it?"

Without answering, Calista just shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly as she walked upstairs.

For some reason, Calista has a feeling that tomorrow's visit to Surabaya wasn't just a vacation. She knew there was something her brother was trying to hide.
