Chapter 39 - Chapter 39

"Erm, nothing."

"Well then, don't bother me anymore." Calvino focused on his work again.

--

Leonard couldn't focus on his work because he was still thinking about his beloved woman until Matius caught him.

"Oh yeah, what's wrong with Calista? I want to see her. Which hospital is she in?"

Leonard didn't answer and chose not to respond to his coworker's questions.

"Leo, can't you hear me?"

Leonard immediately lifted his face then cast a sharp glare.

"If you want to know which hospital Calista is being treated in, why don't you just ask her?"

Matius explained that Calista's phone was off.

Not wanting to continue talking about Calista, Leonard asked Matius to return to his room.

"But Leo…"

"Matius, it's working hours, and my guest is coming soon, so please leave my room!"

Matius immediately walked out of Leonard's room, although with irritation.

'It's impossible if he doesn't know which hospital Calista is being treated at. He should be honest if there really isn't a special relationship between them. That sucks!' Matius mumbled.

Kiara, who accidentally ran into Matius in the hotel hallway, bombarded him with questions. However, Matius remained silent and continued to walk away from her.

She wasn't Kiara if she couldn't get what she wanted. She even changed her intention to meet Leonard and immediately pursued Matius.

"Don't you have anything else to do but follow me, Kia?" Matius's voice tickled Kiara's ears.

"Of course I have, but answer me first. Who made you this upset, huh?" Kiara asked.

"None of your business!" Matius replied.

Not wanting Kiara to keep bothering him, Matius immediately asked Kiara to return to her room. However, after seeing the look of disappointment on his friend's face, Matius immediately called her.

"Kara, wait!"

Kiara stopped walking and turned to look at him.

"Yeah?"

"Come in!" Matius invited Kiara into his room.

He began to tell that Calista was being treated at the hospital. Still, Leonard was reluctant to tell him the address where Calista was being treated at this time.

"What's wrong with Calista until she is hospitalised?"

"How do I know? Your HR refuses to tell me."

"Wait, let me call Calista first."

'Just try to call her until your thumbs curl. Calis' phone is inactive.' Matius continued in his heart.

Kiara immediately turned her face to Matius. She informed him that Calista's number was inactive.

"I already know, Kia. That's why I asked your HR. Eh, he even..."

"Then let's go straight to his apartment."

"You know his apartment?"

Kiara shook her head.

"Oh gosh, if you don't know his apartment's address, then how do we get there? After all, Calista isn't in the apartment. She's being treated at the hospital."

"I mean, if we go to the apartment, we can ask the maid, Matius."

"Unfortunately, we don't know Calista's apartment's address."

"Just ask Sarah. She'll know."

While they were talking, a staff member informed them that others were already waiting for them in the meeting room.

Before walking there, they exchanged glances because it was unusual for meetings to be held suddenly like this.

Arriving at the meeting room, Leonard was already there. His face was strange because he seemed to have a cumbersome burden.

This time, the god of luck wasn't on his side because, in these few days, he had to be out of town while Calista was still being treated in the hospital.

"Why is this meeting being held all of a sudden? Is there something severe?" Matius asked.

"Yeah, and this has to do with the CFO division," Leonard replied.

"Then why Kia and I are involved?"

"While Calista is being treated at the hospital, I want you and Kia to supervise the CFO division, especially Reno," Leonard added.

"Reno?"

"Keep your voice down, Matius!" Leonard growled.

"I mean, why Reno? What's wrong with him? Is he..." Matius' sentence hangs after getting a sharp glare full of warning.

"Just do what I tell you to!"

"It doesn't matter as long as it counts," Matius replied.

"Be professional and show your loyalty, Matius!" Leonard growled with blazing eyes.

Leonard's departure was accelerated so that this afternoon he had to arrive in Jakarta. He didn't even have time to meet Calista.

He immediately touched his chest. He whispered thousands of sorry words in his heart as well as a deep longing for his beloved lover. He hoped Calista could feel it.

GRAND PIERCE HOTEL

Jakarta, Indonesia Β

The Board of Directors warmly welcomed Leonard's arrival. He was deliberately sent to Jakarta to deal with the chaos that was going on.

One thing he didn't know was that the chaos that occurred wasn't in Jakarta but Makassar.

'What kind of chaos got me here?' Leonard thought.

Chander, who knew that Leonard had arrived at the hotel, immediately rushed to greet him. He was Indian and could only communicate using English. It was typical that he was like that, considering he's only been living in Indonesia for a month.

"Selamat datang, Mr Leo." Chander greeted Leonard while extending a hand that was immediately warmly welcomed.

Leonard chuckled in his heart as he was amused to hear Chander's funny accent. He suggested Chander only use English to communicate with.

"I'm glad you speeded up your flight."

"Thank you, Mr Chander. What happened to the Grand Pierce hotel in Jakarta to the point where I had to speed up my flight here?" Leonard asked.

"The chaos that occurred wasn't in Jakarta but Makassar," Chander replied.

"I'm sorry, Mr Chander, what happened to the Grand Pierce hotel Makassar? Why should I go there, and what should I do there?" Leonard asked again.

"Listen to me, Mr Leo. I want you to sort out the mess there. The employees are holding a big demonstration demanding a raise."

Leonard immediately frowned.

"How can that be? Hasn't the salary been increased since the first of February?"

"That's the problem. There's been cheating there for the past seven months."

"It shouldn't be me who went there but the directors."

"I know you're capable of handling this matter, Mr Leo. It is for this reason that the Board of Directors and I appointed you."

"Thank you for trusting, Mr Chander."

"You're welcome, Mr Leo."

Leonard invited Chander to fly to Makassar this afternoon without waiting long. Still, Chander suggested that the flight be made tomorrow morning.

"The sooner we resolve this matter, the better, sir," Leonard suggested.

'That way, I can immediately return to Surabaya and meet my baby. Oh baby, how are you? I really miss you.' Leonard continued in his heart.
