Chapter 41 - Chapter 41

Calvino returned to the sofa, after making sure her beloved sister was asleep. He laid his body there. Even though he was uncomfortable, he still faithfully cared for his sister.

--

The sunshine caressed Calvino's handsome face, pushing him to open his eyes. The first thing he saw was Calista.

Finding his sister still sank in her dreamland, he decided to return to the apartment without waking her first.

The nurse who entered Calista's room to check on her health immediately gave a warm smile before waking Calista up for examination.

Calista was embarrassed when she glanced out the window. The sun was already smiling. She then glanced at the sofa. Her brother wasn't there.

"Mr Calvino left the hospital four hours ago."

"Thanks for letting me know."

"You are fortunate to have Mr Calvino. It seems that Mr Calvino truly loves you. If only I had a lover like..."

"Like my brother?" Calista interrupted.

The nurse frowned as if to ask, 'what do you mean?'

"Calvino is not my boyfriend but my brother."

The nurse was stunned. She whispered softly in her heart. 'So Mr Calvino is not her boyfriend but his brother?'

Seeing the nurse looking thoughtful, Calista smiled in amusement.

'Oh, my dear brother, so you spread charm in this hospital until you make this nurse infatuated.' Calista thought.

As the nurse left, Calvino entered Calista's room with a smile on his lips. A smile that could make anyone fall in love.

"Why are you looking at me like that, huh? Is there something wrong?" Calvino asked and then looked at his appearance.

"Nothing's wrong, Calvin. It's just..." Calista replied.

"What?" Calvino asked as he approached her, then pulled a chair and sat.

"What, Calis? Tell me!"

"I don't know whether I should feel sad or happy to have you as my brother. Many think we are a couple." Calista explained.

Calvino burst out laughing.

"Why are you laughing like that? You're laughing at me on purpose, huh?"

"Why should you worry about that? It's actually a good thing. That way, no irresponsible man… dares to approach you."

"Ish, dammit."

"Oh yeah, are you feeling better? Your face looks fresher and not as pale as an undead." Calvino asked.

'Luckily, you are my brother. Otherwise, I would have punched your handsome face. How easy it is for you to call me an undead.' Calista cursed in her heart.

"Hey, what's with your face, hum? Don't bend it, you ugly, ah," Calvino teased Calista.

"Oh yeah, are you feeling better, Calis?"

Calista nodded, then whined at Calvino, asking to come home. To be honest, she never liked the smell of a hospital. The scent of these drugs made her stomach nauseous and dizzy.

Calvino affectionately rubbed the top of Calista's head and then walked towards the doctor's room.

Calvino's smile instantly widened when the doctor said that Calista had been allowed to go home this afternoon. Even so, he asked the doctor to check her again to make sure that his sister was totally healthy.

"You don't have to worry, Mr Calvino. Ms Calista can come home this afternoon. One thing she should remember is to maintain her diet and stay away from high activities." Calvino nodded and then left the doctor's room.

With vast strides, he went to his sister's room, and how surprised he was to find someone inside, who was talking to his beloved sister.

"When are you coming, honey?" Calvino asked as he directly hugged her.

"Why didn't you tell me that you came to Indonesia? To shock me, hum?" Calvino asked again

Lenata looked up to see a pair of brown eyes that she missed so much.

"Not on purpose to shock you, but to surprise you, honey," Lenata replied.

"Tell me why suddenly you came to Indonesia and how is your job?" Calvino asked.

"I'm taking time off."

"Have you returned to Bandung?"

"No, I immediately flew to Surabaya. After that, I went to Bandung. Don't worry, mom and dad already know that I'm in Surabaya to meet Calista." Her gaze turned to Calista, who was smiling.

"Don't make out in front of me! You guys make me jealous." Calista squeaked.

Lenata immediately released the hug and then approached Calista, asking where her best friend's lover was.

Calista's face turned sad, then cast her gaze on Calvino.

Lenata understood that something was wrong. She tried to change the conversation topic because she didn't want to make her future sister-in-law sink deeper into sadness.

"Oh yeah, Len, how about you just stay at my apartment?" Calista offered.

"Sorry, babe, I can't because I have booked a hotel to let go of my longing with your brother."

"What??" Calista flinched, as did Calvino.

However, Lenata smirked without the slightest sense of guilt.

"Don't stare me in horror like that! I'm just joking. Listen, even though I live in London..." Lenata paused.

"Eastern customs are firmly attached to me," Lenata added.

Calvino immediately approached and kissed the top of Lenata's head. He felt very proud to have a lover like her, a modern woman with that mindset, as well as his beloved sister.

Calista was always able to maintain her honour despite Leonard's repeated temptations.

"It's better if you take Lenata back to the apartment first. Poor her, she definitely needs to rest." Calista suggested her brother. She knew that they both needed a separate space to let go of their longing.

"I don't think it's necessary, Calis. This afternoon you have been allowed to go home, so just go ahead." Calvino answered as his gaze turned to Lenata, who immediately nodded in response.

'Thank you, honey,' Calvino whispered in his heart.

"Then take Lenata to the canteen."

"Is it okay if you stay for a while?" Calvino asked.

Calista nodded while rubbing his knuckles firmly.

"Hmm. I'm jealous of you keep making out with my future sister-in-law."

Calvin groaned.

"You," Calvino pinched Calista's cheek.

Calista immediately grabbed his brother's arm, whispering something so Lenata couldn't hear what they were talking about.

"Take care of Lenata, and don't hurt her. She's my best friend who I have loved like my own sister, so I can't accept it if you get to..."

"What you're afraid of will never happen, Calis." Calvino interrupted while gently stroking the top of his sister's head.

"What are you guys talking about? I'm here. Don't ignore me!" Lenata snorted in annoyance.

"It's nothing, honey. Come on!"

"Calvin, wait!" Calista stopped her brother.

Calvino shortly turned his face and raised his eyebrows to ask 'what was wrong?'

"Where's my phone?"

"Your phone is safe with me," Calvino replied.

"But I want to call mom."

Calvino then returned Calista's phone, not wanting to look overprotective in front of his beloved lover. After that, he immediately took Lenata to the hospital canteen.
