Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

Not long after, the CEO entered the room. Having a handsome face, Caucasians and a sharp gaze made him look sexy even at a young age. His cold aura could create a sense of discomfort. He deserved to be called the killer CEO.

--

Albert's handsome face has managed to steal Calista's attention. Her memory seemed to be played back.

'His face is familiar. I think I've seen him before, but where? in London?' Calista thought and then returned to an unusual look. Meanwhile, Leonard and Matius still observed her.

As the meeting was about to start, Calista's phone rang. She instantly cursed, annoyed for forgetting to silence her phone. All pairs of eyes immediately turned to her as if she was a criminal who was ready to be judged.

'You're so stupid, Calista.' She cursed herself in her heart.

"You can pick up your phone first, Ms Calista. Maybe it's an important call," Albert suggested.

"I'm sorry, sir."

Albert smiled.

"No problem. I know it must be an important call. Please pick up first." Albert replied.

"Once again, I apologise for the inconvenience. Next time I will make sure this will not happen again." Calista explained.

"No problem, Ms Calista. The meeting will be adjourned until you return." Albert added.

Of course, Albert's respectful attitude towards Calista became a big question mark for all employees in the meeting room.

This was the first time the killer CEO has been lenient with employees, especially with a relatively new employee like Calista.

Even though there were so many questions, no one dared to whisper to each other except for throwing glances at each other.

After a few minutes, Calista re-entered the room. Her arrival was immediately greeted warmly by Albert, then respectfully invited Calista to sit down.

After 4 hours, finally, the meeting was over. Albert asked Calista to stay because there were some things to discuss.

Leonard's mind was immediately filled with bad thoughts. Could Calista be in a relationship with Albert? But where did they meet? Isn't this their first meeting?

"Hey, what are you doing here?" Matius asked when he caught Leonard still standing in front of the meeting room.

"None of your business!" Leonard snapped.

While in the meeting room, the two of them were involved in a conversation that instantly reminded Calista that Albert was her business partner when she was the CEO of Jozh's company. She never thought she would be reunited with him.

"I'm sorry, sir. How are you?"

"Of course, I'm fine. And . . . What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be in London with Mr Jozh?" Albert asked.

Calista took a deep breath. It was hard for her to say.

Without waiting for Calista to answer, Albert then said that Calista would definitely move to Indonesia with her family.

"No sir. We've separated." Albert was immediately shocked and then apologised for accidentally reminding her awful past.

"No problem, sir. No need to apologise. By the way, are you still working with Jozh's company?"

"No, Jozh's company experienced a deficit after being held by Ms Lana. I'm currently working with the Kafeel Group," Albert paused for a moment then cast a questioning look.

"Oh yes, one thing that confused me, why did you work in my company? While you are the heir to the Kafeel Group? Why don't you join Mr Kafeel's company, your dad?"

"Because I'm interested in your company, sir," Calista teased with a laugh.

"I'll make you the CEO of this company if you please Ms Calista."

"No need, sir. I'm happy to be part of the successful team of this company. I'm not after the CEO position. I'm very grateful for still being allowed to work in this company and serving as CFO, sir." Calista replied.

"Thank you for your cooperation, Ms Calista. I hope you enjoy working in this company." Albert shook Calista's hand.

"Of course, sir."

Albert's gaze became even sharper. One thing he still didn't understand was why Calista wanted to join his company, while her father owned many companies that were widely spread in Indonesia and also abroad.

After talking for a long time, Albert invited Calista to return to her room.

"Excuse me, Ms Calista, Mr Leo is waiting for you inside," said Sarah.

Calista immediately squinted her eyes, wondering why Leonard was waiting for her.

"Okay, thanks, Sarah."

Calista was surprised when she found Leonard sitting in her oversized chair, leaning his head against the back of the chair. His eyes were closed, his face hardened. It was clear that he was angry.

"What are you doing in my room?"

Finding Leonard silent, Calista's fingers reached out to gently touch his shoulder.

Unexpectedly, a pair of strong hands grabbed Calista's waist and made her sit on his lap. No doubt it made her flinch, so she tried to break free, but the strong arms that wrapped around her waist felt even tighter.

"Let me go!" Calista snapped with a sharp glare.

However, Leonard didn't budge at all. His gaze sharpened. There was anger mixed with disappointment implied in his eyes.

"Leonard, let me go!"

Realising the discomfort radiating from Calista's beautiful face, Leonard immediately softened his gaze then stared at her intensely, trying to dive into the depths of those grey eyes.

Unable to stand being stared at so intensely, Calista chose to lower her gaze.

Leonard's firm fingers reached out to grab Calista's chin so that their gazes met again.

Calista didn't budge when Leonard began to bring his face closer, as if she was hypnotised by his black eyes.

Their breaths intertwined, sending each other an unusual feeling. Calista could even feel something springy starting to gently brush her lips.

When Calista wanted to move her face away, Leonard's fingers had pressed against the nape of her neck to hold back the kiss.

Realising that Leonard didn't get a response, he immediately bit the bottom of her lip and then stuck his tongue in, boldly touching every part of her mouth.

After feeling Calista starting to run out of breath, Leonard then immediately moved his face away. His gaze never left Calista's beautiful face, especially the grey eyes that he always missed.

Calista was embarrassed, so she immediately got up from Leonard's lap. But, the grip on her wrist pulled her back so hard that she fell back into his lap.

"Where are you going, hmm?" Leonard's soft tone tickled the ears. His fingers stretched out to smooth the strands of hair that dangled past her cheeks. His gaze warmed, and, for some reason, being treated like that made Calista lulled.

Realising Calista was under self-control, Leonard was about to bring his lips back together. However, the strong thrust in his chest had stopped his intention.

Leonard then immediately showered Calista with a questioning look as if to say, 'why Calista?' Without answering, Calista immediately got up from his lap.

"I have to work, please leave my room."

"I didn't hear what you said, darling. Please say it again."

"I have to work, please leave my room. Don't you have to work too?"

"Look at me when we're talking!" Leonard snapped while grabbing Calista's chin so that their gazes met.

"Don't say anything..." The sentence that had just disturbed the hearing immediately jolted Calista's consciousness so that her gaze sharpened on Leonard's black eyes.

Leonard' sturdy lips showed a crooked smile. His fingers then stretched out to gently touch Calista's luscious lips.

"Not after we kissed." Said Leonard.

"What we did a moment ago means nothing. We're just getting carried away and let's pretend nothing ever happened between us."

Again, those sturdy lips showed a smile that was difficult to interpret.

Leonard then grabbed Calista's waist and squeezed it into his broad chest until there was no gap.

Even though Calista tried to fight back, her strength was clearly far behind when compared to Leonard.

"If what we did was pure because we got carried away, then you will never enjoy it, honey." Leonard teased Calista.

"Unfortunately, I still clearly remember how when your sexy lips greeted my kiss, Calista," Leonard added while lifting the corners of his lips with a scornful look.
