Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

"Unfortunately, I still clearly remember how when your sexy lips greeted my kiss, Calista," Leonard added while lifting the corners of his lips with a scornful look.

--

Without Leonard's expectation, his left cheek suddenly felt hot from the warm caress of Calista's fingers.

This was the first time a woman had dared to slap him. This was the first time that Leonard Fidel Christiano's pride fell in front of a woman.

Leonard's eyes turned sharp, his jaw hardened, and one hand was already swinging in the air to slap Calista's cheek. However, he immediately held his intention.

Leonard remembered that he never wanted to beat a woman even though everyone knew him as the craziest man.

"Then, what about the old fart Albert? Did you two get along because you got carried away too, huh?"

"How dare you!" Again, Calista slapped Leonard's left cheek, leaving Calista's fingers there.

"Get out!" Calista snapped. Her index finger pointed to the door.

After Leonard's departure, Calista burst into tears regretting her own stupidity for not protecting herself from his tempation. Whereas before, she had never been this weak to men.

Likewise, Leonard was also ambushed with deep regret for accusing Calista without any evidence.

Not wanting Calista to hate him again, he re-entered her room. Unfortunately, the sight in front of his eyes was really suffocating.

Leonard instantly sat down against the table wall then leaned forward to observe Calista's beautiful face, which was swollen with tears.

His fingers stretched out to wipe the tears with his thumbs which were immediately blown away roughly.

Calista's gaze sharpened, and Leonard didn't like to see her grey eyes that he had always longed for staring at him disapprovingly.

"I'm sorry for accusing you without any proof. I'm really sorry, Calista. I shouldn't have said that."

"Forget it and please get out!" Calista snapped.

"No, until you forgive me."

Calista exhaled tiredly. Her gaze sharpened.

"I have forgiven you. Please get out of my room. I don't want others to think badly because of your presence in my room."

"Who would think about that, huh? All the employees have gone home except the two of us."

Hearing Leonard's words gave Calista goosebumps.

Leonard then gently stroked Calista's cheek as if he knew what was currently lodged in her mind.

"What you think will never happen, Calista, unless you let it."

"Get out! You need to finish your work, right?" Calista replied as she pushed Leonard's broad chest.

"My job is done."

"Then, you can go home. Why are you still here? So disturbing."

Not paying heed to Calista's order, Leonard chose to sit on the sofa. His gaze never left her beautiful face that looked serious while working.

'You're a hard worker.' Leonard thought then glanced at the clock on his wrist, showing 9 at night.

Not wanting Calista to be tired, Leonard directly walked over and then tidied up the documents scattered on the table without permission.

"What are you doing, huh? Watch out if you dare to do such a gross thing!"

Leonard stared at Calista's grey eyes with sharp gazes.

"It's time to go home and rest."

"But my work isn't done yet."

"What time do you want to go home, huh?"

"Look!" Leonard pointed the clockwise on his wrist.

"It's very late, you've been working overtime for 4 hours."

"Yes I know, but my work is not finished yet. Let me finish it first. You can go home first." Calista replied.

Leonard took a deep breath then turned off the laptop. He leaned his body against the wall of the table and stared at Calista with an unusual gaze.

"It still can be continued tomorrow. Don't push too hard, I don't want you to get sick," said Leonard while smoothing a few strands of hair that fell to Calista's cheeks.

Since the incident, the relationship between the two has grown closer. Still, when they were in the office, they both chose to act normally so that no one knew about their relationship.

While Calista was busy with work, the office phone suddenly rang. Sarah informed her to go to Leonard's room. The grey-eyed woman then immediately narrowed with a frown.

'Why did Leo ask me to his room? Is there anything important he wants to talk about?' Calista thought.

Instead of going to Leonard's room, Calista chose to text him but didn't get an answer either. She directly refocused on the laptop screen, not wanting to be distracted from work. Meanwhile, Leonard was still waiting for her arrival.

Leonard was annoyed because the one he was waiting for didn't come, so he immediately called Dera.

"You call me, sir?"

"Have you conveyed my message to Ms Sarah?"

"Yes sir."

"Alright, you can go."

'Then, why don't you come to my room, Calista? What job makes you ignore me?' Leonard thought as he continued to walk towards Calista's room.

However, his anger subsided after seeing the woman he adored, focused on the few documents.

Leonard approached Calista and then gently stroked the top of her head. Calista also directly looked up to see Leonard's handsome face.

Shortly after, the two have faced each other. Their gazes locked as they were talking to each other even though no words were spoken.

When Leonard started to bring his face closer, the grey eyes closed. But, for a split second, she opened her eyes again as she didn't feel a springy object brushing against her warm lips.

Leonard's gaze warmed, then affectionately kissed along Calista's forehead. His fingers reached out again to caress the top of her head.

"Didn't Sarah get my message, hum?"

"I got it."

"Then, why did you ignore me?"

"What important thing do you want to talk about that you asked me to come to your room with?"

Leonard immediately growled in annoyance.

"A question is not answered with a question, Calista."

"I know. Then, tell me what important thing you want to talk to me about. I'm very busy today so please don't disturb my time, Leo."

"I know you haven't had breakfast right? That's why I want to invite you to have breakfast together,"

Calista followed Leonard's gaze, which was fixed on the food box.

"Listen, Leo, we are at the office. Watch your attitude!"

"I know, I've locked the door too."

"What?" Calista immediately gasped.

Not yet recovered from the shock, someone knocked on the door.

'OMG, who's coming?' Calista thought as she cast a threatening gaze at Leonard.

Calista swore if Leonard dragged her into big trouble, he would hang the man alive.

"Why are you looking at me like that? Go open the door. It's not good to keep the guest waiting long."

"Watch out if you get me into big trouble, Leonard!"

"Take it easy, it must be Sarah."
