Ace and Steven left Finn's household and got inside their car while being silent.
Oliver, Kat, and RAin watched them while they started their car and speed away, and then went inside.
Once they were speeding away from Finn's home, Oliver looked at Steven who was watching something on his phone, and stated, " You told something to her right?"
"Huh?" was Steven's reaction.
"You told Rain something about us right? That's why she was terrified right?" Ace asked with an accusing tone to his voice.
"She saw us following her, I had to," Steven stated the fact defensively.
"I told you before, you are not supposed to do things without asking me." Ace was angry now, Steven was caught twice and also broke the rules twice, just because Ace knew Steven Before this mission doesn't mean he can make rash decisions and make it all a mess.
"I know I know... I couldn't come to you at that time, and also she was threatening me that she would tell on us." Steven replied.
"Ahh… Okay… What did you exactly tell her?" Ace calmed himself then questioned.
"Bunch of things," Steven replied distractingly while looking at his phone.
"Steven Reed, I am warning you last time. I am your supervisor, not your friend or classmate, that you could talk to me casually. You already have created a mess here and now you are obliged to tell your supervisor in detail. I am accepting your behavior last time." Ace was very angry now.
"Okay okay.. chill.." Steven started, " I told her that we are here to protect and that I don't know much about her parents but we are on the mission to protect their children that means her and Sophie and I also told her that we are not from here, and I guess she will keep this all a secret."
"You guess… you guess you say…." Ace ran his fingers through his long hair and sighed, " You told her 50% of things and you can't even get a privacy promise out of her. Haha, what the hell I am into."
Steven could see Ace was angry, "I am sorry, man. But look that girls may help us if we told them everything." he stated.
"Look Steven for the last time, they can't help us. We are not supposed to tell them anything. Don't breach the privacy information of our mission just for your sheer fun."
"Okay… okay… I won't." Steven lied. And with a satisfied expression Ace calmed down.
While in Sophie's room in Finn's household, Rain was trying to make Sophie come out of the bathroom, "Sow, I said I am sorry, we were having some talk, you came in the middle of it."
She could only hear faint whimpering coming from inside of the bathroom.
"Sow, I told you to go many times, and that's why I got mad. Please, I am sorry."
Slowly the bathroom door opened and Sophie got out looking down at the floor. "Sow, will you please forgive me?" Rain pleaded to which Sophie nodded.
Sophie didn't want her sister to act like she was alone all the time but still the only thing she always gets from her sister's side was a bunch of secrets and cold leave me alone dialogue. Sophie has had enough of it. But she didn't say anything.
Rain got up from the bed and hugged her sister while still saying, "I am sorry sow, I won't do that again." And Sophie thought, yes, you will do this again and again and again.
They both started walking out and towards the hall where Kat and Oliver were discussing while holding each other's hand.
"I don't like the way that steven guy looked at Rain," Kat confessed to her husband while sitting on the sofa in front of the tv, which her husband was watching intently.
"Why?" he asked.
"Just… I don't know how to say this… he was weird."
"And still you let him go with her?" he was confused.
"Well I… he was normal… when he entered, but then when they were leaving… I don't like the way he looked at her."
Oliver knew his wife was not always judgemental and suspecting kind, so he believed every word she said and was thinking about it when he heard faint voices on the stairs.
"Let's talk about this later, the girls are coming down I guess."
The hall of Finn's house was large with a kitchen attached to it. Through the hall's door, one could easily see the stairs that go up to the first floor and also the front door. The stairs were directed towards the hall and away from the front door, so that whoever comes downward and whoever is going up would easily be visible from the hall as well as the kitchen. Oliver loved the design of the house while Kat always complains about the large glass door that was in the hall the opens into the backyard. "Someone would break the glass and kill or rob us, it is not safe."
He would always reply with, "Stop watching horror so much and see the beauty of it Kat, you can see the backyard from here sitting on the sofa, imagine if rain is pouring down, you and I are sitting here watching it all through the glass door…" and she would just blush and reply.
"Oh shut up Oli, this is not something romantic, what if a storm came and the glass shatters while we are sitting here, we will be penetrated with holes from glass and die."
"you are no romantic, you know."
"And you are no factual, you know."
And the routine was still going on, and slowly Kat started falling in love with the house as well.
As Rain and Sophie entered the hall, they saw Kat and Oliver sitting and smiled, "What a fun day." Rain remarked and Oliver nodded and Kat extended her hand as for Sophie to come and hold.
While Rain was still awkward with Kat she didn't mind sitting near Oliver and even calling him dad felt less weird than calling Kat, mom. She was the best, but only for Sophie, she didn't know how to deal or even talk with Rain. Even in foster care, when they use to come, Kat would always pick something not Rain's type as a gift but Oliver knew what to pick for Rain as a gift.
It was nearing 11 pm and the Finns and the fosters were still sitting in the hall chatting and laughing over all the events that happened today and 3 months ago when they first meet. While Sophie was in between Kat and Oliver, more leaning towards Kat, Rain seated herself on the floor in front of Oliver.
"I still remember, Rain being this fierce kid while we first met her, and telling us to keep quiet while she was writing." Kat laughed.
"Oh, don't you forget our little teacher Sophie, who taught us for 3 days the way around the foster care compound," Oliver added.
Rain laughed, "I would have been more respectful if I had known."
"I was always respectful, right?" Rain chirped looking at Kat while Kat smiled and nodded and Oliver laughed.
"Yeah, sure, just not respectful to me." Rain remarked teasingly. To which Sophie stick her tongue out and Rain did the same.
While the laughing and memory refresh was still going on in Finn's resident, Ace and Steven settled them self down and adjusted the car seats to make them flat for being able to sleep. While still sitting and watching the house in front of him, steven took a bite of his Po'Boy sandwich.
"How are you still hungry?" Ace asked with a surprised look on his face.
"I can't help it, Humans don't have much nutrition in their food, and whenever I use my power, I feel hungry here." he shrugged taking another bite.
"Noob." Ace smirked.
"oh, shut up."
The lights turned off of Rain's Room and then after about 5 minutes of their parent's room while Steven and Ace watched. The curtains of Rain bedroom were closed off and as soon as the lights turned off nothing was visible, Steven sighed.
"what was that for?" Ace asks.
"what?"
"That heavy sigh?"
"Nothing." Steven replied and to district Ace from this he added, " You and Kaitlin Finn were having very long and nice chats today… You know she is married right?"
As soon as he completed the sentence, a pencil hit his forehead. "oww, That could have poked my eyes, I could get blind by that, you…"
"you what." Ace Challenged and Steven gulped his words back.
"Supervisor sir." he smiled.
In their fight they didn't notice, the slender half face of a girl peeking out from Rain's window. But Sophie noticed steven's face and form, as the street lights were still not off, and looked at her sleeping sister.
"Sow, what are you doing, you said you wanted to sleep here, as you were scared why are you standing there?" Rain asked turning to see still with a sleepy voice. And Sophie moved towards the bed and slides in while hugging her sister.
"Night, Rain," she whispers with a scared heart and trembling small voice.
Why were they here, was the only question in her mind.
