Drop by drop the rain started falling, while Steven and Sophie were seated near the glass door, a faint soothing sound of falling rain surrounded them.
Steven looked out of the door and thought, it's been more than 7 days they are here and rain choose to fall on this day only, to make the already sad atmosphere sadder. He looked at Sophie who was faintly smiling while her eyes were closed.
The glass door to her side was opened a little and she was leaning towards it, he can faintly smell the scent of falling rain on the earth, he smiled too.
"You love rain?" He asked while looking at her.
"My sister or the falling rain?..." She chuckled, " Haha, I love them both. She was named after it, as our mother used to love the rainy weather."
He smiled, "I hope you are not still angry with your sister."
"I am..." She stated and turned towards the glass door to look out and added, "But also I feel for her, I won't be angry for too long."
"Yeah! She needs you."
"You think so?"
"I know so. She needs someone like you beside her, who trusts less and question everything, she is too sweet and kind, she will get played if she deals with everything alone."
"I know." Sophie sighed and looked at him, "But, I thought you were the one who wanted me away from her."
He was shocked at her words but smiled, "I am an idiot, just like you and her. I get angry and offended easily."
"When did I even offend you?"
"When you made me reveal the chance of both of you having powers," He looked down at his crossed legs, "I didn't want her to know this."
"I wanted her to know this so that she would not get hurt later."
He nodded and looked at her, "Maybe thats what made her mad at you."
What? Why?"
"You made me tell her that her chances of being in that world with you are less than average. There is always a time for everything to be out in open, and that was not the time..."
"And how do you know that?" She sounded offended.
He knew she had a temper just like him but he was clueless on how to handle it, "I am 19, and trust me I know many more things than you."
She wanted to snap back at him but thought, it was his last day here and made herself stop, and without even a nod or anything she started looking out.
They sat in silence for a minute and Steven thought he had to go now.
"Take care of yourself and your sister, you are young but smart, be with her, even if she is mad or angry or moody."
She looked at him and nodded.
"Don't behave as you did to me to the next team members that are coming, they won't appreciate it."
She nodded and smiled.
"I will see you at 14 okay." He got up and she followed.
Steven stepped out in the rain and started running towards the tree with both hands over his head, once he was in the shadows of the tree he looked back at the glass door, with half of her body out in the rain, Sophie looked at him.
She waved at him happily, though, without tears, her heart was feeling sadness, she looked at him waving back and running towards the fence.
Rain got inside the hall silently from where she was hiding and listening to their discussion. she slowly made her way towards Sophie and put her hands across her and hugged her from the back, Sophie didn't flinch as the hands warped on her shoulder and neck, she leaned back on her sister, as they both watched Steven, bending down and crawling inside the crack of the fence.
"We need to fix that." Rain muttered softly and thought, as he won't come back from that fence again.
Sophie nodded.
The anger was gone, the frustration, the hate, and all the bad feelings were gone as the two sisters watched the rain falling together, they didn't say anything but Sophie had accepted the apology that was only said over and over again in Rain's mind.
Both the sisters stood there facing the glass door without looking at each other, Sophie hiding her sadness which she had no reason to feel, and Rain hiding her tears that were falling uncontrollably.
Rain knew he will not come back till 2 years, she will have to live here as a human, as a girl she felt she never was, she will have to endure everything for 2 years.
Sophie though wanted him to never come back, as for Rain to not go, but also she wanted him to come back, she wanted to talk to him like she did today, and in heart of her heart, she knew she wanted to know more about that world. She wanted to accept a part of her that reappeared today.
Sophie while in her rage started to walk down the stairs towards the kitchen, she can't go into Rain's room to sleep, she can't be in her room as Rain was in there, so she stormed down toward the hall.
she turned towards the kitchen door as soon as she entered the hall, her throat was dry, she wanted water, while still being angry she filled a cup with water twice and drank.
she took the glass full of water with her into the hall while remembering the scene the happened.
She was feeling so much anger, she wanted to smash the glass on the floor, she wanted to throw the table across, tear the cushions down, she wanted to fight, and yell but she can't, she can't as she will ruin everything, she can't as she had only Rain as her real family.
She was so pissed at the way Rain made her feel in front of Steven, she was angry at the way she made her feel worthless after discovering about powers, she never asked her, she wanted all the things for herself, Sophie thought, she wanted herself to be powerful, to be special but not Sophie.
She was debating with herself for so long as Rain might be too attracted to that world thats why she is behaving like that, but all the sensors were out now, Rain was selfish, Sophie thought, she was selfish always.
After her parents died Rain shut herself off and thats why Sophie had to trust her aunt, thats why she had to endure all the interviews her aunt made her attend about their parent's death, thats why she had to go through it all because Rain was too numb to care.
Rain was selfish thats why she had to take all the efforts to make the parents that would come in foster care agree on taking both the sister, she was so selfish that after knowing that powers exist, she wanted it herself that after hearing about the powers could be in only one child of the parent her only reply was, "That means I would have to leave Sophie?"
Like she was sure that Sophie was powerless like Sophie was nothing.
Her thoughts were moving inside her like a tornado, destroying every happy memory the sisters had.
Nothing, nothing, nothing. The voice inside her head sounded like Rain yelled.
The glass which was in Sophie's hand cracked. Sophie took no notice.
Nothing, nothing, nothing, the voice kept on shouting, while the memories of being left behind while at the bus stop was playing, she left me that day on the bus stop Sophie thought, you are nothing, Rain's voice inside Sophie's head yelled over the memory.
The glass cracked more.
The time when she told her sister about the new foster parent telling her to work and not go to school came to her mind, Rain's reply to that was, Sophie just agree with them it would be okay. She wanted me to agree so that she could live well she thought.
You are nothing! yelled Rain's voice again and with a loud crack the glass in Sophie's hand shattered, its pieces falling on the ground, Sophie with shock look at her hand that was holding the glass and it was without any scar, she thought, did I pressed it that hard.
She bent down and started picking pieces when one of them pushed into Sophie's finger and the voice inside her head yelled, thats what you get, you are nothing!
With anger inside her, Sophie closed her eyes and felt the glass piece and suddenly the glass piece that was stuck in her finger removed itself, Sophie opened her eyes in shock, looked at her finger then at the floor, the floor was stained with water but there were no broken pieces.
She looked at both of her sides in shock then looked up and saw the cracked glasses pieces hovering over her head, quickly she covered her head as they would fall on her but none came, slowly she looked at the pieces.
While remembering the time the paper bird fly she pointed her left hand towards the glass door, nothing happened, she pointed again nothing happened, the pieces were hovering above her.
The thought crept into her mind, is Rain doing this, she looked towards the hall door, no one was there, then Rain's voice again inside her head, "You know you are nothing.
With a yell, she slams both of her hands on the floor and with the same speed all the pieces fell on the floor too but avoiding her, they were scattered all around her but did not even touch her.
She looked around her as the pieces were surrounding her, to someone it might look like she was sitting in a circle of cracked glass.
She slowly started picking them up with a smile on her face.
