The next day both the sisters got up and went down to the kitchen, for breakfast and while running down the stairs decided not to tell anyone about Steven being up in Sophie's room
Kat and Oliver were already eating breakfast when Rain and Sophie came down and entered the kitchen, they greeted each other a good morning while sitting down for the breakfast
"How was yesterday?"Kat asked Sophie while serving the children food.
"It was awesome," Sophie exclaimed while taking a bite of pancake that was served. Sophie looked at Rain secretly and smiled.
"It was awesome, indeed." Rain giggled.
"What is it?" Kat asked.
"Nothing" "Nothing" Both the sisters giggled at the same time.
After the breakfast was done, Rain and Sophie went up to Rain's room, after a bit of discussion, Sophie went to her room for her dress. She knocked at the front door twice and entered.
Steven was up and was looking out of the window, as soon as Sophie entered he looked towards the door and said," Hey,"
She nodded towards him and went to her cupboard talking all the while, "Rain and I had decided that we will somehow sneak some food up to you, but first we need to wait for our parents to go out, okay?"
He replied," Okay, cool."
He walked towards the bed and sat on it, "I have to go get my clothes from the bag, which is near the shed in your backyard…" He paused, Sophie looked at him while narrowing her eyes.
"I didn't have time to do anything else, so before coming up I threw the bag full of my clothes over the fence near the shed so that no one could steal it and also so that I could find it easily after the party is over," He explained.
Sophie chuckled and said, "Okay, where is it? I can get it."
"You will?"
"Yeah why not?" she shrugged.
Steven thought, she has gone through some major changes, she wants to help me without anything in return. Thats weird.
They both agreed and Steven told him exactly where he threw off his bag and Sophie left with her dress that she was going to wear today in her hand. She was first going to Rain's room then to the backyard and after that, they will have to see about the breakfast.
Rain was out of the bathroom, combing her hair when Sophie entered, "You took too long?"
"Yeah, he wanted food and clothes."
"And where are we supposed t find clothes for him?" Rain turned towards Sophie.
Sophie stopped in her way towards the bathroom and said, "He said he had thrown his clothes in our backyard near the shed that dad build just a few days ago."
"Ohh!" Rain muttered and looked back at the mirror and started combing her hair.
"I will get it, don't worry," Sophie said while going into the bathroom and closing the door behind her.
Rain wanted to help but didn't as she was still wondering how to tell Steven about her powers that are not back, in fact, she had started thinking that maybe she and Sophie aren't gifted with any powers that their mom once had.
She had practiced and trained as he told her too, she had done all the training till her 17th birthday that would help in pushing her powers out and controlling them, but maybe they didn't even exist, maybe thats why they are not coming back, so now she was facing the dilemma of telling Steven about her non-existing powers or not telling him about anything, just acting rude and mean to him so that he would not interact with her.
Sophie was out of the bathroom and saw Rain was still lost in her thoughts while combing her hair, she thought that it would be good to not bother her and went on her work.
Slowly moving down the stairs she went inside the hall and peek inside the kitchen, no one was there, she then crept slowly towards the glass door towards the backyard and peeked outside, still none.
She started to make her way towards the shed on the right side of the backyard behind the giant tree that hides most of her window. She thought, maybe mom and dad are out working, but it was not usual for them not to tell them when they are going out.
She moved towards the backside of the shed and started looking for the Bag, after about 5 minutes of searching, she finally spotted the brown bag and lift it. Should I look into it? She thought.
She decided not to look into it and went straight into the house and crept up towards her room. She knocked twice on her door and tried to go inside but it was lock so she went into Rain's room.
Rain was nowhere to be found, she thought, where is everyone, and she heard someone knocking and went out to look. Rain was standing in front of Sophie's room door waiting for it to be opened with a plate filled with 3 pancakes and a bottle of maple syrup on it.
"Oh, you were out because of that..." Sophie said while closing Rains door behind her and standing beside Rain waiting." I somewhere went somewhere out."
Rain smiled at Sophie and Sophie noticed the bitterness in her smile and got confused but kept her mouth shut.
"Um, are you going to talk to him about powers?" Sophie asked cautiously.
Rain nodded and looked straight at the closed door, Sophie sighed, she knew what her sister was going to talk to Steven about, about how she couldn't control her powers, and that would only make matters worst.
If Rain told steven about her powers not getting back then that means she would be sad and steven would be sad with her, which would only result in false hope or depression.
both the sisters waited patiently while steven got inside through the window and went towards the door, "Hey, ladies!" he beamed.
"We were waiting here for ages, where were you?" Sophie questioned while entering the room behind Rain.
RAin went towards the chair that is in front of the window and sat on it while steven replied to Sophie, "I was out searching for my bag."
Sophie looked at him, "I told you I would get it."
"you did?"
"yeah!" Sophie exclaimed in a way one would say duh.
"where is it then?" he asked while ignoring her tone.
"in Rain's room, wait I'll bring it." Sophie turned and left without waiting for any reply. steven laughed at her behavior and closed the door while turning towards Rain who was sitting.
"what's up with you?" he asked.
"Um..." Rain thought, should I tell him, what would his reaction be like? and later decided to tell him.
"Actually..." she tried again and looked at him, as their eyes met she looked down, all the confidence leaving her and she suddenly felt more anxious than ever.
"what? tell me." he chuckled "why are you behaving like this." he thought it would be something silly but was not ready for what was about to come.
"steven... I think... no no... actually..." she stammered.
he waited patiently for her and she sighed again, nothing will happen to you don't worry, she thought to herself and started, "i... I think... I don't have... powers."
he looked at him a bit shocked, "what? why?" he questioned.
she looked down at her feet that were danging from the chair, "I... Cant... I don't think I can control them..."
"oh thats not the problem, I cant teach you..."
"no you can't, steven..." she looked into his green eyes, "I did every training and practice you told me..." she muttered with tears filling in her eyes, "And they didn't come, I think I don't have them." she started crying.
steven sat there numb and confused, "what do you mean by they did not come?"
"I don't feel it in me steven..." she mumbled while putting her head into her hands, "I think I don't have powers, I think I am only human," she muttered the last word so silently that steven barely heard it.
Steven sat there in shock and didn't know what to say, when the door of Sophie's room opened, "Here it is." Sophie beamed at him and fell silent looking at the grim face him and then she looked at Rain who was crying while his head was hidden inside her hands.
she said it, Sophie thought, and now it will all be over, he will go back and never come and now Sophie would have to conceal the fact that she was different like she did when she was young for the sake of her sister.
She sighed and decided to accept whatever fate throws in her way, as she will have to endure it all, and only on her own.
