Chapter 128 - A whole romance blossomed in a few seconds

"Yana, watch out!" immersed in her thoughts, Yana didn't even notice that she let go of Luka's hand and stood still in the middle of the mass of people marching forward, hitting her left and right.

Luka's anxious voice only got through her when she looked up and saw his face briefly, before her very own was pushed against his chest. Yana couldn't see but heard a loud THUD and felt Luka slightly staggering forward. No way, did Luka get hurt? Yana quickly tapped his arm to signal him to let go.

Once he did that, she pulled him out of the mass and didn't stop until they reached the car. Parked in a secluded alley, Yana opened the car door and sat Luka on the backseat.

"Are you hurt anywhere?" since Yana didn't see where or how Luka got hit, she checked every part of his body.

It was unclear why she suddenly felt restless at the thought of Luka being hurt. Maybe she felt guilty. Yes, there was no other way to express this urgency.

Actually what happened was that the back of a large signpost hit the back of Luka's head. It did hurt a bit but seeing how worried Yana got over him, all pain vanished and Luka started to grin like a fool.

Luckily Yana didn't notice.

"I'm fine," Luka's husky voice appeared and Yana nodded after confirming it herself.

"Good, don't do anything stupid again."

"Protecting you is stupid?"

Yana bit her lip. Gosh, why did he always have to have a comeback for everything? He was so annoying.

"Yes, I can protect myself," Yana finally said and was convinced about this. She's more than capable enough of keeping herself safe and she was definitely stronger than Luka.

"Yes, you can," Luka immediately coaxed Yana as if he was going along with every whim of his spoilt wife.

Yana decided not to waste energy on him again. Luka, who sat on the backseat, wanted to pat Yana's head, but she evaded elegantly and turned around only for her eyes to fall on a major surprise.

At the end of the alley was a van. A delivery van. Not any but one from the Lanz delivery. The very same company Yana had her eyes on.

Yana's feet moved before she could think and she arrived at the car waiting for the driver to appear. Perplexed Luka followed but Yana didn't pay him attention anymore.

Luka's few minutes of care and affection vanished like a sad bubble, only to be replaced by what? A damn delivery car! Was this more important than his hurt body?

Luka didn't understand but had no chance to ask when Yana inspected car. The injustice Luka felt.

Yana had no idea what was going on in his head, she only focused on trying to get some valuable information from the driver without seeming suspicious.

Yana stood at the back of the car and kicked the trunk door a few times. The noise caught the attention of others, however, Luka shielded Yana from their view even though he had some doubts about Yana's mental health at the moment. The driver was coming closer and closer and Yana decided to stop instantly.

She viewed the small dent on the back door and was satisfied but what Luka felt, at this precise moment, was shock and a tiny bit of fear. How could someone as fragile and soft like Yana actually manage to put a dent in a bloody car door with sheer, brute force?

Luka recalled the time when Yana said she could deal with things alone, now he didn't dare to doubt her anymore. Never.

Yana once again had no idea what went on in Luka's head and only heard a small, "Yana…?"

Yana turned to Luka who looked like a bee stung him and tilted her head in question.

"What's wrong?"

Luka rang with words but the driver arrived and Yana cut him off, "Play along."

Before she rushed towards the driver and put on an act, "Are you the owner of this car?"

The driver, a middle-aged man, only perplexed nodded while Luka was as equally perplexed as he stood next to Yana.

"I'm so sorry," Yana's guilt-ridden voice caught Luka off-guard yet the next words made him flinch.

"My friend's a clumsy driver and accidentally bumped your car. There's now a dent, he'll pay full compensation to you!"

Luka was thrown under the bus. Since Yana brutally kicked the bloody dent shouldn't she call herself out, why was Luka sacrificed?

But it didn't matter, what mattered was the irritating word 'friend'.

This eye-stinging word that should be banned and confined to Mars unable to survive when Luka nuked that damn planet off the universe just to get rid of the 'friend'.

Causally, Luka slung his arm around Yana's waist and pulled her closer, "I'm her boyfriend, I'm very sorry, I'll pay instantly."

Two could play this game. Yana's eyebrow twitched but she let it go for now.

"It's fine, I'll make a report with your contact details to file it at my company. They'll take care of it."

"You don't take cash?"

Of course, he wouldn't but Yana tried to sound as oblivious as possible.

"I can't do anything. It's the company who handles it. This is a company car. Please leave me your contact details," the driver pulled out his phone to record the dent.

"Go do it," Yana pushed Luka forward, "It's your fault for being bad at parking."

"It's because you distracted me, you're equally at fault," while Yana's voice was indifferent, Luka's was full of affection, "If you call me hubby, I'll do it."

The audacity this puppy turned jerk had!

The driver didn't have time, "I'm sorry, but I still have to deliver. Can you please hurry?"

"Wifey did you hear?"

From friend to boyfriend to husband. A whole romance blossomed before the driver in less than a few minutes, he sighed.

"H-Hubby please do it," Yana said in the sweetest voice and shooed Luka away who wrote down the details. Then Yana turned to the driver.

"Again we're sorry. Delivering must be a hard job, I hope it's nothing too valuable."

"Don't worry, it's only flowers."

"Oh, is it from that popular flower shop in the centre?"

The driver shook his head, "We deliver flowers from all sorts of flower shops."

"I see, I hope it's not for an event, or else you'll be really late."

"It's not, sometimes we do, sometimes we don't, the number of flowers are always large."

The driver sighed again while Yana smiled. This driver was a really good opportunity.
