Chapter 114 - Confidence is needed

A few days passed and it was finally Sunday. The day of the event. Yana has prepared everything and walked to the flower store to take care of the order.

With a bag, she put on the counter, she managed the order and carried the flowers to the entrance of the loading bay. At the exact time, the event provider came to pick up the flowers.

Yana greeted him. The loading space was located at the back of the store. The driver was able to get into the store from the backdoor.

"You are alone?" the driver looked at Yana who smilingly nodded.

"Yes, sorry, I know it'll take longer with us two but please bear with it," Yana apologised. During an event, the orders were always large, so to load them onto the car took a while. Usually, the manager and another staff plus the driver together loaded the car but today it was only Yana.

"It's ok," the driver mumbled, not very pleased as he saw how weak Yana looked. He alone could carry at least 5 bouquets but Yana might only manage two.

The manager, who the driver usually met, was also able to carry 5. The bouquets were several ones tied into a big one which then would be untied at the event, so that was why one single bouquet was as large as an adult male's arm.

Yana wasn't fazed by the male's attitude, she knew that these drivers had to be quick with their deliveries or else they wouldn't receive money. It was a hard job for them, so Yana tried her best to be as fast as possible. Time was key.

Also, Yana wanted to scout the event location beforehand, since she didn't do it earlier as she couldn't get in.

"These are the last ones, please wait a moment," Yana went back to grab her bag and come out with a document which the driver quickly signed. He looked at Yana and grumped, "You done for the day?"

There was light jealousy in his voice. Yana laughed, "Unfortunately not, I'm only starting. I need to go to the event too, the flowers are a bit complicated to set up so they need me. They already know about my arrival. Since you're here, could you give me a lift?"

The driver didn't look pleased but it seemed like he was a good person as he couldn't stand Yana's anticipating look and only said, "Get on. It's a bit cramped."

"That's fine, thank you," Yana hopped on and sat on the passenger seat. It was indeed filled with various documents and boxes but Yana gently put them away and made herself comfortable.

Actually, Yana has lied about the flowers and the event. There was no one waiting for her or someone informed about her arrival or even her existence but Yana wasn't worried about it.

She would find a way in. The whole ride was peaceful, the driver didn't talk a lot. Rather than that, he looked quite tired and was grumping whenever he had to receive a phone call.

But his skills were no lie. He navigated the car smoothly and knew the city's shortcuts even when he had to take several detours because of the protests. It wasn't long before they arrived at their location. The van drove into an underground parking lot of a hotel where the event took place.

The van stopped in front of a gate inside the parking lot. The driver got out and said, "We're here."

Then he walked to the gate and pressed the bell, Yana followed him. When the door opened, the driver grumbled, "Order for the flowers are here. Get someone to… unload it."

The guard who answered nodded before his gaze fell on Yana. Seeing that the driver went back to the car, Yana said, "I'm one of the staff here. The manager should know, actually I'm short on time, I'm too late. Can I please go through here?"

The guard sized Yana up, "Staff for the event?"

"Yes, the same event these flowers have to be delivered to. Right now, we should be setting up. Can you please let me through? I'm afraid I'll get yelled at if I'm late."

The guard looked at Yana again before he let her pass. In the end, he was just a guard and had no idea and Yana really seemed like she was afraid her manager would fire her, so the guard didn't doubt her.

Roy always preached to Yana that confidence was key. No matter what you do, no one will question you. Those with confidence already have 50% of their goal done.

It's all about how you act. To train this confidence and natural acting into Yana, Roy had put her on the spot many times. He always drove her to many places and had her pretend to be one of the staff, guests or clients and finish a mission that proved she successfully infiltrated.

At first, it was daunting but also exciting to Yana. Definitely nerve-wracking but the more she did it, the more natural she became until pretending, lying, acting and the confidence, shamelessness she needed was fully indebted into her very bones and bloodstream to fill her whole body.

This was why Yana had no scruples to lie and get into the venue even if people discovered her. It was all about how well Yana integrated herself as if she naturally belonged everywhere she set foot in. This was how she had to act. Own this place like it was hers.

From the gate, the guard let her in, Yana walked through the hallway until she came across a staircase. Since the parking lot was underground it was only natural to head up. Yana walked to the ground floor where usually the events room in a hotel were located.

She walked off a bit and crossed rooms until she finally found herself in the hotel interior of the ground floor. With red carpets and light walls. Before this bit, everything was out of concrete. When Yana stepped into the warm and cosy hallway she saw a few people hurrying to a certain direction.

To her left, she saw a long hallway that led to a glassdoor needing a keycard to enter. Just like Yana thought, if she went through the hotel entrance, not being a staff or guest, she wouldn't be able to get into this quarter of the hotel. It was probably sealed off for the rich only.

Yana followed the staff in uniforms who were too busy to notice her. They pushed towards the main hall where Yana saw the giant room filled with round tables. Everything was neatly set up. A manager stood outside and called all the staff together to probably brief them.

The manager spotted Yana and shouted angrily, "You there! Why haven't you still changed? Get to the changing room already. We are still not done with the reporting! What are you doing? At this rate, there'll be no break for you!"

Yana nudged one of the staff and asked for the toilet. Luckily, they were kind enough to tell her the direction before they turned to the manager to be scolded.
