Chapter 108 - Pitiful monologue

After the disaster with Mr Rosanli, Yana managed to calm down quickly. For now, she wasn't going to bother him. Instead, her target was Mik. To find out why he was here and who was backing him. For that, Yana had to attend the event.

In her rush, Yana hasn't even turned on her bedroom lights. She stood up from the bed, pulled the curtains and then lit up the room. Then she took her laptop and started to search. But nothing came up.

There were no upcoming events on the 29th. Could Yana have misheard or be mistaken? But she was sure it was the 29th. Maybe it was the next month?

But even the next few months, none of the events matched the one she was looking for. The bright computer light illuminated her confused face. Yet no matter how much Yana searched, in the end, she was only left with the option to turn off the computer and sleep. Yana still had to go to work tomorrow before she finally had a day off.

The next day when Yana left her apartment, coincidentally Luka came out. When he saw her, a bright smile formed on his lips which only annoyed Yana. It was now absolutely clear. Luka was indeed a puppy. No matter how much Yana pushed him away, hurt him or even mistreated him, the moment he saw her he instantly clung onto her and wagged his tail. All grievances and painful feelings just vanished like that. Poof. Gone. Disappeared. Wow.

Yana ignored Luka who followed her as inauspiciously as possible. He even unbuttoned his shirt to set free his oh-so-attractive pheromones and his barely visible toned chest showed. Yana rolled her eyes and pressed the lift button. When the lift arrived and they got in, Luka finally opened his mouth and initiated a conversation after he couldn't help it anymore.

"I made dinner yesterday but you weren't home," Luka's voice sounded like a husband desperately waiting for his wife while she went out to have fun and party.

So? Was what Yana wanted to ask him but kept ignoring him.

"I knocked on your door."

Isn't there a bell?

"Several times."

Again, isn't there a bell?

"Until my hands hurt."

Fuck, you just playing with me? What are your eyes for? Fucking decorations? Bell! There's a bloody big ass button to press!

"But you didn't answer."

Yana looked at the display inside the lift. Still a bit until they arrived on the ground floor.

"I was really sad."

15, 14, 13

"I made so much effort to cook your favourite meal."

12, 11, 10

"But you weren't at home… not able to taste my-"

9, 8, 7

Gosh, Yana wanted to flip Luka like a pancake out of the lift.

"I waited for a long time."

I fucking get it! Shut up! Shut up! I understand! No need to make yourself pitiful! You should've just gone back and eaten! What are you acting all hurt for, huh? Yesterday, I would have lost my life, well it wasn't too dramatic but still! How could your nitty bitty worry compare to mine?

"I waited for so long until the food got cold. Then I ate it all alone…"

What are you? A schoolboy waiting for this single mother who rarely comes home because she has to work and make a living for you?

"So-"

Bing.

Finally, on the ground floor, Yana rushed out of the lift but Luka still didn't shut up! He continued his monologue to hopefully reel in some pity points. Just what was wrong with him? Just out of what cotton was his brain made?

Yana grit her teeth before she said, "Yes, I wasn't home!"

Luka's eyes lit up and he quickly followed her out of the building.

"Then what were you doing?"

"Stuff."

"What stuff?"

"Important stuff."

"What important stuff?"

"Leave me alone!"

"Tell me!"

"No!"

"Yes!"

"Tell me!"

"Shut up!"

"No!"

Fuck! Why was he so goddamn annoying? Several of Yana's brave veins have sacrificed themselves to pop on her forehead until they finally arrived at the store and Yana disappeared into the changing room without even greeting the manager who stood at the counter.

"Oh, you guys came together?" the manager held Luka back to chit chat.

"Yeah, actually we live close," Luka, for whatever bloody reason, proudly explained. The manager wrinkled his forehead before he started to laugh, "You seem excited."

"Hehe, do I?" Luka looked embarrassed.

If Yana was here, she would explode at this scene and point at Luka. What the fuck did you turn into? What the hell? Character setting! Character setting! Cough- let's forget that.

Yana came back from the changing room and stood next to her manager, "What are you doing?"

The manager was currently writing into the large book where the orders are placed. Instead of using a computer system to keep check of the orders, this store still used a book.

"Placing some new orders we got," the manager twirled the pen in his hand before he sent Luka to go and change.

"So many?" Yana looked at the scribbles the manager wrote, probably from being on the phone.

"Yep, our flowers are just popular, haha."

Yana who glanced at the orders suddenly noticed a similarity, "Let me do it. You should go and take care of our popular flowers in the garden."

"Oh right, thanks. I'll leave it to you. Don't forget-"

"To write the forms for the signatures, I got it," Yana waved the manager laughingly away before she turned serious.

She hasn't noticed it before but even though there wasn't any recurring person ordering several times, there was actually someone that did. Rather than someone, it was the delivery provider.

For most events, it was the same provider who picked up the flowers here and delivered them to the event's location. Yana has never noticed it before. It was only due to yesterday's mention of the event, did Yana finally think of the possibility to connect the flowers with the organisation.

Before that Yana stupidly looked at the individual people but who would incessantly buy flowers as a single person? This was only suspicious and drew too much attention But then again how could flowers at an event lead to the organisation? And what meaning or for what purposes did the flowers serve?

Yana quickly jotted down the new orders before she looked through the older ones and made a discovery. There was an order for an event on the 29th. Apparently, it was a small event but the provider was the same. Lanz delivery. This was Yana's second clue. She had to personally go there and check it out. Even if it might be a stub, Yana still had to take her chances.

It was settled then. Yana closed the book when she heard footsteps.

"Do you need help?" Luka smiled at her but Yana ignored him. She turned to the manager who also came in, "Manager for the order on the 29th, how about I take care of it and you don't have to come in so early?"
