A week passed since Luka became Yana's coworker and neighbour. Apart from the first evening where he invited himself over for dinner at her place, Luka left Yana most of the time alone, be it at work or at home.
Yana guessed he was busy as a CEO and was glad about it. She was still in the dark about Luka's intention.
At work, Luka was such a good worker that the manager and Nini came to love him. However, Yana's peace wasn't long-lived. At the end of this wonderful week, Yana noticed that Luka's movements have gotten more and more suspicious.
In other words, it was obvious that Luka was starting to get closer to her! He would now talk to her more often or stick to her closely, although it was still in moderate amounts, Yana felt that this was Luka testing out the waters before he committed to become a full-fledged glue!
No matter how Yana ignored him, how coldly she treated him, his baby steps didn't retreat. They only increased. Even though they were baby steps, in the blink of an eye they accumulated to become monster steps! Damn, Luka was so pesky, clingy and annoying! Didn't their roles reverse from back then?
When Yana came to work this morning, her eyes almost rolled out of her head seeing Luka at the counter greeting her enthusiastically. Yana had ignored him and went straight to the changing room. It was a good thing that Luka's previous suggestion didn't come true. He wanted them both to walk to work together and then back home! Using the excuse of it being dangerous outside.
Although, it was true that the protests still haven't stopped, they neither increased nor decreased. They remained stagnant. It was a surprise that people were so committed to this. Most protests, demonstrations or movements never lasted this long and died down pretty quickly.
For some reason, an unsettling thought crept into Yana's mind. What if this was the doing of someone who pulled the strings behind the curtains? It wasn't too unreasonable, after all, it was hard to believe that this phenomenon was present in most other places in this country too.
It couldn't be explained any differently. Someone must be instigating it but Yana didn't have the power to figure out who. All she could was to leave this matter to the EF while she focused on her own mission.
Yana break has finally arrived. Yet sje didn't know that the lunch break would become the start of her much-feared nightmare.
In the breakroom, there was a large table that took up most of the space, comfortable armchairs surrounded the table. Yana took off the apron and sat down but the second she pulled out her lunch, out of thin air, Luka seated next to her and gently smiled.
Yana slightly pursed her lips but refused to look at him. Just the tiniest bit of attention would grow him a tail that would wag right into her face. Relentlessly.
Yana ignored him and started to eat. But each time she lifted the food to her mouth, the next second the food on her plate piled up. Yana silently glanced at Luka's side only to see a full-course meal in front of him. The hell did he think he was doing?
Yana's eye twitched slightly. Usually, Luka would sit opposite to her and just creepily stare at her but it was fine for Yana because she never spared him a glance. That was why she never noticed what kind of lunch Luka ate.
Now that he practically glued himself next to her and piled an insane amount of food onto her plate, Yana almost lost it. Ignoring him was literally silent consent for him to feed her until she exploded!
"Stop it! I can't even eat that much!" Yana huffed, still avoiding eye contact but Luka's soft voice reached her ears, "But you used to."
Yana wanted to flip the table and the chair, lastly him out of the window. Shee took a deep breath before saying, "It's been 5 years. People change and so do their tendencies. You don't know me."
"Then can I get to know you?"
"No," Yana regretted talking to him.
Anything she said was used as an opportunity by him. It was frankly very annoying. Luka lowered his head before he slightly and overly secretly ladled more food onto Yana's plate before Yana was completely fed up.
"I told you I can't eat anymore! I'm following a diet, so don't ruin it," with that Yana shoved her plate to Luka before leaving for the garden in the next room.
If Luka acted like this, here was no way she could endure spending the whole break with him. She previously tolerated him because he kept his distance but now he insisted on being a caretaker!
Meanwhile, Luka stared at the plate and wondered where he went wrong. The book he spent so much money on was failing him. It was a bestseller and the reviews said that it had the best tips and trick, do's and dont's for romance.
And one of the first things was to care of the partner and share food! Wouldn't that show Yana how much Luka treasured her? Didn't that melt her heart and slowly make her fall for him?
Luka frowned and then pulled out his phone.
"Boss, what's wrong?" Bao seemed to be in a restaurant. This brat. Luka's face darkened but he still said, "It didn't work."
"What?" Bao was confused.
"Advice#14 didn't work!" Luka sounded angry and Bao quickly caught on, cursing in his head. He was on a fucking date too but had to entertain his boss!
He should really make clear the boundaries between work and private! He even came here for his boss! To City A! And that stupid book, of course, it didn't work, what a bunch of bullshit! Bao made so much effort to try to get his boss off the idea but that stubborn, inexperienced and totally unromantic male was oh-so-clever!
Bao swallowed his anger down and smiled at his date before he turned around and whispered in the phone, "Boss, how about you just don't follow the books."
"Then how am I supposed to know what to do?"
This idiot! His damn stupid boss! Just follow your hollow heart!
"How about reading some romance novels?"
"Oh," Luka thought for a second, "I've heard those CEO novels are quite popular."
Bao blanked for a second before screaming, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
But it was too late, Luka hung up and it was all Bao's fault what was to come.
