Chapter 97 - Who is it?

Yana's home was only a few blocks away from the flower shop. Usually, it tok her a maximum of 10 minutes to get home but now that the streets have been getting rowdier, it took Yana almost more than half an hour. The part of the city where Yana's apartment and the flower shop were located in, was riddled with apartment complexes intended for the middle class.

Although the salary of the flower shop was only so-so, due to EF's big-budget, Yana could live comfortably in the centre. The other reason for residing in this part of the city was due to its great location. It was very close to where Yana needed to go and be to carry out her mission. Hence, why Yana had to work at the flower shop undercover but there was also another reason.

The flower shop was also a good inauspicious way to figure out who belonged to the high society and to interact with them without arousing suspicion. The apartment complex Yana lived in now wasn't much different than the one in City M. Behind a gate, several buildings stood next to each other, connected.

At the gate was a security guard preventing any strangers and unrelated people from entering. In front of the buildings was a little park. Yana crossed it before making her way to the building in the middle. After entering the lift, she pressed the button for floor 20. The highest was 44. It took a while as others got on and left.

Yana was exhausted, she had worked the whole day and then had to fight her way through the unforgiving crowd. It was horrible. Once she entered her room, she soaked in a long bath and prepared dinner by shoving whatever there was into the oven. Afterwards, she sat in the living room on the ground in front of her coffee table.

The kitchen and living room were connected. One large window took up a whole wall and was covered by the curtain. Yana took out her phone and decided to call Roy. Ever since her mission started, she hasn't heard anything from him nor the others.

She knew they were working on the problem to stop the protests but nothing came out of it. It seemed like Yana had right, the government in this country already abandoned them.

No matter how Roy would appease them they wouldn't magically be on EF's side.

"Yes?" Roy's impatient voice appeared. Yana breathed a sigh of relief hearing that he picked up. She was worried something might have happened to him.

"Roy?" Yana hesitated, "Is everything ok at your side? Should I help?"

"No," Roy harshly said, "Just focus on your mission, that's enough help."

And then- Beep Beep Beep- he hung up.

Yana could hear that he was busy but didn't think he acted so rudely. Helpless Yana threw her phone on the sofa and hugged her knees. Her mission Roy gave her…was it really that helpful? Wasn't Roy just giving her some petty work to do to keep her busy? Although this time her mission was more important. There have been movements detected from the organisation in this city and it was Yana's mission to figure out who and what they were doing.

Right now all the top members, the so-called executives of the organisation, were not known yet. The EF only knew around ¼ and Yana's goal for the mission was to find the ones hiding in this city and their purpose, as well as why they seemed to use the flower service in this city a lot. At the beginning of her work at the flower shop, Yana has questioned Nini about the regular customers but the surprising thing was that they weren't any.

The records didn't show the same people ordering from the flower shop constantly nor were the same recurring flowers requested except for the event providers which were only 3 or 4 in this city who took care of the flower delivery.

Yana has been here for a month now but apart from some minor discoveries that seemed useless, she had no leads. Now when things were going out of control, Yana was helpless about not being able to do anything.

The murderers of her parents were the organisation but to the organisation, Yana was nothing more than a tiny speck of dust they could easily blow away with a snort.

In order to bring justice, Yana wanted to bring down the organisation but with their reach and influence across the whole world, it was almost impossible.

Even the EF was paling in front of their might. Yana buried her head in her knees and sighed. There was nothing she could do for now but to finish her mission. Roy promised he would help her and Yana trusted him, so she shouldn't think he gave her any unimportant missions. Each mission was related to a bigger picture and served their part. That was what Roy once said and Yana believed in him.

However, the bad thoughts still lingered in Yana's mind when suddenly- BANG BANG

Yana jumped up and her ears perked up at the thumping noise. It seemed like it came from the right. The room next door but it couldn't be. After all, the room was vacant since the last tenants moved out before Yana even moved in.

Bang Bang

Yana's heart dropped. What were those sounds? They sounded as if someone was throwing something heavy against the wall. Over and over again. The noise gave Yana a bad feeling and she suddenly became anxious. It couldn't be. They found her! But Yana has tried to be as cautious as possible and not leave clues.

The last time she went scouting was a few days ago at night, since Yana wasn't familiar with the city, she accidentally caught the attention of some shady people at a place where illegal dealings were dealt.

But if they already found her would they be so obvious? Or were they trying to prepare a trap thinking Yana wasn't at home?

Yana couldn't just sit here and wait for something to happen. She preferred to take things into her own hands first. If there were any problems, she would go and deal with it. Simple.

Yana walked to the front door and looked through the peephole. The illuminated hallway showed no signs of people. Next to Yana's door, she kept a wooden bat. Since the last mission where Yana was targeted and had to fight, she felt unsafe and naked without a weapon. In order to protect herself, she now made it a habit to put the bat next to her door.

It was illegal to carry a gun around and Yana didn't want to carry a knife with her or stab people. So, a bat was the ideal weapon. Carrying the bat in her hand, Yana casually walked out of her room to the next door. She remained in front of the door making sure that no one was present and that she stood in the blind spot of the security camera.

Yana then hid the bat behind her back as she was ready to knock on the door but just at the moment, the door opened and a person stepped out. Yana's eyes widened but then her face blanked. Ah.
