It was already morning when Yana and everyone else settled into the apartment. It was indeed spacious and convenient to get to as Bao said.
Rather than an apartment, it was actually a whole floor in a building complex but Yana didn't feel bad for the money Luka spent. He was the rightful owner of the orphanage but barely did anything for it, so that was the least thing he could do.
The apartment had enough rooms to fit in 4 children in each bedroom and private bedrooms for the staff. Everyone was sleeping after the exhausting night and after much convincing with the help of Bao, Luka also finally left.
The only one awake was Yana. She sat by the window in the room and looked at the morning dew skyline. The sun started to rise, dying everything in a bright light. Yana couldn't afford to waste time on sleep. If she didn't act now and cut off her enemies, they would get to her first.
Yana was able to go on for three days straight without sleep. It was essential during her training days to be prepared for any situation. Thinking back on it, Yana could still see the grins of the others who proudly flaunted how they were able to stay awake for an even longer time.
Marie usually pulled all-nighters all the time. With the thought lingering in the back of her mind, Yana finally made another call to Roy.
It took a while before Roy answered, it seemed like things on his end got hectic, so Yana provided a quick run-through of things that happened before Roy only let her handle things on her own and hung up.
Yana has more or less expected this so she wasn't surprised, instead, she quickly called Marie in order to get backup of the evidence she has lost through the fire. Afterwards, Yana also asked for some other things from Marie before she hung up.
Yana remained a bit longer in front of the large window that took up a whole wall before she got up and decided to check the apartment.
They came here in a rush and fell instantly asleep, so they didn't have the time yet to inspect the whole place.
Thinking that the first thing everyone wanted after waking up was to eat, Yana headed to the kitchen that was connected to the living room. A large ceramic counter graced the middle of the kitchen surrounded by other furniture and utensils.
Yet just as Yana expected there was nothing in the fridge. In all the other cupboards there was nothing either. Since it was Yana's fault that things have ended up this way, she went out to buy some groceries to dish a feast.
In those five years of ferocious training, Yana also had the chance to up her cooking skills, although it didn't raise that much according to the others. Especially Roy was strict on her cooking skills. He said Yana was a disgrace as a foodie and thus he worked extra hard in beating Yana's love for food out of her.
The apartment complex was located in the outskirts of the city, away from the centre as it was better not to be too close to that high-end nest.
The outskirts, however, didn't look much different than the city centre.
Impeccable, clean streets, modern skyscrapers and an elegant charm. City M didn't spend an insane amount of money for nothing. The mayor was bent on retaining City M's reputation as one of the leading A-tier cities, thus every part of the city had to live up to the praise.
It didn't matter if it was the outskirts or the area homeless people lived in. Even the streets where the beggars lived on had to be spotless and awe-inspiring.
As Yana's eyes wandered across her surroundings her lips curled into a sneer. Instead of wasting money on a useless outer reputation, how about actually trying to raise it by tackling the internal problems than to care of the outer appearance?
The taxpayers wouldn't want their money to be wasted like this but then again most of them were influential people who then, more or less, invaded taxes anyways.
Although it was the outskirts and much less buzzing than the busy centre, there were still quite a few billboards on the skyscrapers showing the news. However, Yana ignored it and made her way into a grocery store. Her phone vibrated but she ignores it.
But as she picked out the things she wanted to buy she couldn't help but feel constant stares and whispers, Yana was sure it was directed at her.
Yana was calm however she couldn't help but wonder if there was something wrong with her appearance.
Before she went out, she changed from her pajamas and made sure she was at least a bit presentable. There was nothing wrong with how she looked like. Could it be that she smelled?
Inauspiciously Yana gave herself a few sniffs but apart from the slight stench of smoke she didn't outrageously smell bad.
Up until Yana wanted to pay, she couldn't help but feel that she was crowded by people who kept their distance. The self-checkout went quite slow as a few veins popped on Yana's forehead but she tried to remain calm until she heard a click.
Someone was taking a photo of her! Yana instantly bobbed her head and glared at the male who nervously lowered his phone.
"What? What's wrong with you all staring at one person?" Yana's annoyed voice only caused people to gossip more about her direct and confrontational speech.
"Oh my god, did you hear that? She's really scary!"
"Looks like she could kill you with one look!"
"I'm scared. Could it be the news were right?"
"Quickly, call the police!"
"Don't get too close to her."
"What a sick person. Even dares to come out in broad daylight."
"Hurry, the police!"
The whispers just flew around Yana and entered her ears. She couldn't help but tense up and hurry to finish the grocery.
Something was wrong. Something completely went wrong.
As Yana stepped out of the grocery and her eyes fell on the billboard she stopped blocking it out and instead focused her attention on it.
"Breaking news. The culprit of the arson at the orphanage owned by the M.M company has been leaked. The police will do its utmost to catch the culprit who's currently hiding."
A picture appeared.
"It's none other than the rumoured partner of M.M company's CEO."
