Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Meeting My Subconscious

Mayari covered her teacher's eyes with a handkerchief hoping that Helen would snap out of it, but she didn't.

"Ms. Helen you need to snap out of it!" Mayari exclaimed as another vision came to her: The hooded young man had finished enchanting the arrow. He let go of the string, sending the arrow to where he's aiming.

Mayari look at the glowing arrow overhead. Then her eyes widened to see the arrow suddenly multiplied.

She turned back to her teacher. "Ms. Helen you need to wake up right now!" She exclaimed louder, and shake Helen's shoulder harder.

Because of Mayari's hard shaking, Helen's glass of wine slipped through her hand. It gave a loud noise of being shattered when it had reached the ground.

But Mayari didn't give a damn care, her saviour/teacher, refering to Helen,  life is in danger; "Ms. Helen theirs no time! Snap out of it, their are arrows coming"

"What? huh?" Helen break free from the hypnosis. But she couldn't do something right away, since she was blind folded.

In the last second, a magic barrier suddenly appeared, blocking the arrows, but the arrows are still trying to get through, and in just a second it freezes iced hard, and fell down.

Mayari fell to her knees, and then sighed in relief, while Helen is taking off the handkerchief that was covering her eyes.

'That was close...' she thought.

"Good timing, Prince Evan!"

"That was cool, Prince Stevan!"

"You saved as all!"

"Thank you very much!"

"Your barrier is just right in time, Prince Evan!"

"You two are the best!"

"Icing the arrows is a great idea, Prince Stevan!"

"Both of you are truly awesome"

The crowd complimented and shriek, knowing that Evan was the one who set the barrier and Stevan froze the arrows.

"Is everybody alright?" Evan asked, making sure that everyone is fine.

"Well, freezing is my thing, like how I freeze time if you look at me" Stevan flirt with the girls.

"Well, that's my nephews alright" Helen chuckled, "Did you worry about me, Mayari?"

"Of course I'm worried about you" she simply replied with her stolid tone, but she do really care about Helen ever since Helen saved her from death.

"You save my life... you helped and showed kindness to me, that's enough to make you an important person to me" she added looking away.

As you all know, Mayari is a person with no one as a friend or an ally, it's because no one had or ever tried helping, saving or standing up for her. Others may show kindness but that's not enough to convince her and gain her trust.

After dealing with the crowd, Evan saw Mayari on the ground, he taught that something must be wrong so he run towards them.

"Are you all alright, mom?" Evan asked.

"Yes we're fine" his mom replied.

"I gotta say, your barrier is in perfect timing" Helen complimented.

"Thank you, aunt Helen. Are you alright, Ms. Mayari?" He asked lending his hand to help her get up.

As Mayari took his hand the last firework exploded beautifully at the night sky. And it's like time stopped again for Evan, the same feeling he felt the last time he saw her came back again.

"Thanks" she said while getting up.

"Your welcome" Evan replied, showing a smile.

"By the way, Mayari. Did you broke this glass?" Helen asked, noticing the broken glass near her.

"It fell on the ground from your grip when I'm trying to wake you up" Mayari replied.

"Now we know how we wake up from the hypnotism!" the Queen exclaimed with a smile.

"I don't get it" Mayari said confused.

"Fireworks that has hypnosis are called 'Spellbinding Fireworks'. It hypnotize it's viewers quickly" the Queen explained, "To avoid being hypnotize, you must look away before the first firework could explode"

"A spellbinding firework is hard to tell from the normal firework, so it is very effective for hypnotizing someone without even him or her knowing from the start" Evan also explained.

"But it can be easily break by just a sound of a shattered glass" The Queen added.

"I didn't look away when the first firework exploded, but why am I not hypnotize?" Mayari asked.

"It's because you look away in pain" Helen replied with a worried look, "Experiencing pain during that time can also block the hypnotism of the spellbinding fireworks for a short amount of time, and that time can be used to look away causing the spell to break, like you did"

"The pain can rather be internal or external, physical or mental" The Queen added. "Do you have a wound? Or any pain in your body, Mayari? We could appoint you with our best royal physician" the Queen asked worried.

"No, I'm fine" Mayari quickly replied.

"Are you sure?"

"Don't worry about it, sis, her health is fine, she just had a check up this morning" Helen stated.

"Is everybody alright?" Evy asked, as she, her father and siblings walk closer to Mayari, Evan, Helen and Elvira.

"We're all alright, sweety" the Queen replied.

"It's kinda strange how all of us got free from the spell without any activity of spell breaking had happened" the King begin to think, while holding his chin.

"Actually, something happened, father" Evan informed, then he began explaining what happened, "Ms. Mayari had broken the spellbinding fireworks hypnotism, and by shaking aunt Helen's shoulder, trying to wake her up, aunt Helen accidentally dropped her glass of wine, which explained why we got free from the hypnotism spell of the fireworks"

The Queen then stood up, and walk towards Mayari, "It's also means that Ms. Mayari's the reason why we all are saved from the arrows, so thank you very much, Mayari" the Queen thanked Mayari.

"Is that so, then I am really grateful and thankful for what you did, Mayari. Thank you very much" The King bowed to show his gratitude.

"You didn't just informed us about the arrows," Stephanie spoke.

"You also break us free from the hypnotizing spell" Stephania continued.

"Your a real hero, thank you very much, Ms. Mayari" the twins thanked Mayari in unison, and bowed along with the others.

"Mayari, ask anything you want and we would grant it" the King offered.

"Thank you, your majesty. But I have nothing to ask for. You should gave the offer to your sons since they  stopped the arrows"

"But your the one who informed us, Ms. Mayari. Without you shouting we wouldn't have set the barrier in time so the offer should go to you" Stevan said.

"I agree" Evan nodded in agreement.

Mayari shook her head; "I really have nothing to ask for"

"C'mon Miss, there must be something we could do for you?" Stephan asked.

Mayari shook her head once more.

"If that so, then asked ask anytime if you need help or something" the King offered again.

"Yes, We would love to help you" Evy added.

Mayari nodded, and bowed again; "Thank you"

Because of what happened, all guests proceeded on their way with caution.

Mayari and Helen are now on their way home. Mayari explained every detail about what happened when Helen was hypnotize, specially about the vision she had.

"A vision eh..." Helen's thoughts are full of questions why Mayari saw those visions.

"So you don't now either why I saw those visions?" Mayari asked.

"It must be a power that you already have, and was just been unlocked tonight" Helen replied, "In any rate it was very useful" Helen complimented.

"It was" Mayari agreed.

"Does it still hurt?" Helen asked worried, she was referring to the memory that Mayari recalled during the firework show.

"Don't worry about it, it's bearable... it's only just a past memory" The atmosphere became silent and heavy, after Mayari spoke those words

"You've been rejecting a lot of young mens at the ball tonight, I should teach you how to dance so you can enjoy dancing if another ball came our way" Helen gave a smile trying to lighten up the atmosphere.

"You don't need to, I rejected them cause I don't want to" Mayari replied.

"Naah... That's impossible, I have never met a young lady who don't want to dance in a fancy royal ball"

"Until now, you already met one" Mayari replied, referring to herself.

"Still! I will teach you" Helen protest, as the heavy atmosphere became lighter.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The assassin trainees are practicing shooting, most of them are very good in hitting the target's head. But Mayari is having a hard time. She couldn't shoot properly and always miss, the very loud noises of guns being fired is making her head ache painfully.

Her hair was suddenly pulled by one of her trainor causing her to stepped back.

"Please, I beg you! Stop pulling my hair! It hurts..." She begged. Her tears are falling off, and her head became more painful than ever.

But her trainor didn't listen, instead he grabbed her arm and throw her. Her back hit on the solid wall making her body in pain.

"Ahhhhhh..." She screamed in agony, feeling like her body is being broken in pieces after hitting the wall.

Because of Adolf always torturing Mayari, the other staff of Adolf's organization, like the teachers/trainors of the assassin trainees became very cocky and thought of themselves high, that's why they are also abusing Mayari like Adolf always do.

Even the trainees got affected by their insolent behaviours, they are also bullying Mayari. And the teachers just did nothing but watch and smiled evilly, others even joined in and torment her more.

"You stupid, worthless, good-for-nothing brat!" The teacher insulted Mayari, "Even just once you never hit the target, what kind of a trainee are you!?...you know what? Your a very worthless person!... now I know why your father disowned you"

The words she heard from her teacher, echoed in her aching mind. Her head felt like being burned... her body felt like being shattered... No one stood up for her all of them just stared, others even smiled and laugh seeing her in this condition.

"What is happening here?" Another teacher came and asked, "You again!?... What a pain in the neck, you're really worthless aren't you?"

"I now, right? She's truly nothing but a garbage" the two teachers laughed.

She tighten her grip to the gun that she used for the training. Fortunately, when his teacher throwed her, she didn't loose grip of the gun.

"Stand up, and do your shooting right!" Her teacher exclaimed in anger.

But Mayari didn't listen and remained sitting on the floor.

"Tch! What are you still sitting there!?" Her teacher asked bitterly.

But Mayari didn't replied, and stayed silent.

"She's really a garbage" the other teacher insulted her again.

"Mr. Alverno should have killed her alo-" her teacher suddenly collapsed bleeding.

Mayari perfectly shot het teacher's forehead. The bullet was deeply buried on his head, and blood was all over the place, all trainees eyes widened, and others even screamed. The other teacher was horrified for what he have seen, and was in a state of shock, that he couldn't even move.

Mayari's hair and clothes had a few drop of blood on it. She lowered her gun along with her head, as blood on the floor slowly reached her. Soon she'll be lying on a pool of blood.

She stared blankly at the gun she's holding as the rosy red blood runs through where she is sitting.

Tears begin to fall from her eyes, as she silently whispered to her self; "Please... somebody...save me"

Then she woke up, she slowly opens her eyes, only to see a very dark cloudy sky. She was laying on withered grasses, the place is very quite, and glommy.

She slowly sat up looking around, in front of her, from afar there is a huge lake. And not very far away from her back is a black furred wolf sleeping underneath a dead tree.

She turned her head again in front, but this time a black hooded girl, wearing a red long skirted dress is standing in front of her.

The girl slowly took off the hood from her head. Mayari's eyes widened to see the girls appearance.

She have silver white hair, that is tied into a bun, like Mayari's. She also have a very unusual pair of crimson red eyes, but that wasn't the reason why Mayari was surprised. She was surprised to see the girls face the same as hers. It was like another version of her.

The same as Mayari the girl also have a birthmark on her neck, but it wasn't a crescent moon, it was no other than the half of it. And when connected it will form a full moon.

Mayari's mouth opened and then closed, "I see that your confused" the girl speak first, her tone and voice are very similar to Mayari's.

"...I am..." Mayari replied, "Would you mind explaining?" She asked straight forward as ever, 'Is this a dream?...' she thought to herself.

"No, this isn't a dream" the girl then replied, that took Mayari in a state of shock.

'Did she just read my mind?'

"No, I didn't read your mind"

"Then how are you knowing?... Unless... Your me"

"Yes you're right... I am you... but different" she explained with a deep tone, "You can define me as you, your subconscious, your hidden thoughts, or your deepest self either way they are somehow the same. Now for your next question"

"Where am I?"

The girl then sat beside Mayari while explaining; "You are currently at your head right now, but this is not a dream nor a creation of your unconscious imagination, it is true that we are talking"

"I see... Do you have a purpose seeing me?"

"Yes, that is to ease your confusion. Because I am your subconscious I know everything about you, hidden or not, even things that you haven't discovered from yourself I know, specially about the vision that you just experienced"

"Is Ms. Helen's explanation right?"

"Yes, but that was only halfway. At night where the moon's light touch the earth your vision activated, your also in control with your vision but it is also limited, you can only see visions of someone or somewhere if it was currently in contact with the moonlight, so your visions at its peak during the full moon"

"...I've been seeing signs that I'm connected to the moon, am I?..." Mayari asked, touching her birthmark.

"Believe it or not..." She slowly reach Mayari's hand, that was touching her birthmark, she pulled it from her neck, and clench it tight. Then both of their birthmarks glowed. Then she continued; "You are."
