Chapter 64 - Chapter 062

The next day, Arthur woke up with a nightmare.

"Ahh... What a scary dream it was..."

He said as he swept the sweat that had gathered around his forehead.

There wasn't any AC or even a fan around the cave and most parts of his clothes were drenched with sweat.

A frown escaped his mouth as he recalled the nightmare he just had.

It was a quiet straightforward nightmare of a ghost chasing him. Arthur ran and ran, but there was no escape from the ghost. His leg was grabbed by the ghost in the end.

While muttering, 'I will take my revenge...' the ghost dragged Arthur to a pond full of Sharpedos until his eyes opened with a scream.

'My mentality is still weak...'

Arthur obviously knew why he had such a nightmare suddenly.

It was just yesterday that he had gotten blood on his hands. He had killed people, real humans. It was the first time he had killed someone and the sensation of it still lingered in his mind.

As Arthur was not a veteran ruthless killer, he obviously has a tough time dealing with killing.

Killing someone can easily give psychological problems and Arthur was not some 2d character in a novel. He has feelings and emotions.

So, he obviously finds it hard to deal with the fact that he had killed a human.

'I have killed Pokemon before, but I never had nightmares. Maybe it's because it's the first time I killed a human...'

He pondered as he took a deep breath.

Arthur had always prepared himself to kill when he had decided to become a Pokemon trainer.

When he had to kill Pokemon for the first time, he was really hesitant and the hollow feeling of killing a creature lingered for a while.

But it was still fine.

He hadn't gotten any nightmares about it and soon got over it. Somehow, the aftereffects of killing a human were worse than the time he had killed a Pokemon.

Maybe, it was because he himself was a human.

"I didn't have a choice anyway..."

He muttered and consoled himself with that.

It was true too. There's no way he could have let Soros and his partners go away. If they had escaped, they could have reported about him to the other grunts.

The only way was to kill them and they were criminals in the end. The people who linger in the dark society and kill innocents for their own greed.

'Well, not like I'm any different.'

When his thoughts reached there, Arthur stopped and shook his head.

He knew that if he thought any further, he would just break his own mentality. That's why, he stopped and focused his thoughts on something else.

His thoughts went from one thing to another for a while before they stopped at his life on earth where Pokemon was just a video game and anime franchise.

His life on earth was hard, but simple.

He was a common writer who had written a few novels that had worked quite well and he even had a girlfriend. He wondered about the people he was close with.

His mom, his dad, his cat and even his friends who he had rejected to meet because he was busy.

Currently, he regretted saying no to their continuous request to meet. He hoped that his mother was in good health and wondered about the year his old world would be in currently.

Maybe it already had been decades since his death?

Arthur didn't know the answers to these questions, but wanted to know them. He had thought that he had already forgotten all about earth, but guess, he was wrong.

He had thought about whether he would reincarnate again if he died? He also wondered why he was reincarnated in the Pokemon world and who gave him the system?

But there was no definite answer to these questions.

He can make theories about what or why, but they would remain theories without any absolute truth to them cause there's no way to prove them.

'I should just stop thinking about...'

"Charr!"

Charmeleon's voice suddenly broke him out of his thoughts.

He hadn't noticed Charmeleon before, who had been keeping a watch for him, because he was too engrossed in his thoughts.

His Pokemon looked at him with worry. Charmeleon had already noticed that his trainer was in distress. He stepped towards him and stood in front of him.

Although he had evolved now, the care and bond he had for Arthur was still the same. He was worried for him as his trainer looked to be depressed.

"Charmeleon, are you worried about me?" Arthur asked softly.

"Charr."

Chameleon nodded and rubbed his head on his shoulder.

Arthur hugged him without thinking. His scales were rough, but somehow they seemed to be surprisingly warm. Maybe he just needed someone to hug?

Anyway, after a while, Arthur felt better and thanked Charmeleon.

"I'm fine now, thanks. Let me cook breakfast now."

He said and Charmeleon nodded with a relieved and happy expression.

As Arthur made breakfast, his mind became more clear and he started thinking about Leaf. She was the one he had the most special relationship with among his friends.

Arthur had realised that he had been focusing too much on Pokemon training that he had forgotten to keep in contact with his friends.

It was not good for his mental health.

'I should probably contact her as soon as I leave Mount moon.'

He was sure that Leaf would be mad because he hasn't been replying to her and hadn't even checked her messages properly.

He made it his goal to talk to her after he reached Cerulean city.

Aside from that, he was also thinking about what to do with Team Rocket. He didn't want to lose his chance to capture a Clefairy and get a moon stone.

So, in the end, he decided not to go back to Pewter city to report all this to Brock. His plan was completely opposite of it and that was to infiltrate Team Rocket's plan.
