Taking a look at the wall Luck can see all manner of weaponry there, from swords and battle hammers to small caliber guns and sniper rifles and from there a lot of things he had no idea about.
After taking the earlier tests he knows he's not as strong as he initially thought he was, and he doesn't have any offensive abilities either. Going hands on with a metal robot didn't seem like a smart idea so he takes a large rifle off the wall that he was familiar with thanks to Yuki. He also grabs a few spare energy packs for it.
This wasn't a normal rifle that fired bullets like back on earth, it was a fem-tech laser rifle that used concentrated electrons that are amplified and focused into a narrow light beam that creates a pulse laser that operates in femtoseconds of time.
Basically the light beam couldn't actually be seen unlike in the movies. As it moved too fast and it only existed for one quadrillionth of a second. The good thing about this weapon was that it was impossible to dodge, was completely silent, no recoil and it didn't create a heat shockwave that would disperse the heat around to the surrounding material like traditional longer pulse laser weapons.
Using ultra short laser pulses it had much greater penetrating power that was so concentrated it would strip away the electrons from the atoms on the target it penetrated, leaving behind a hot ion soup of plasma that ranged from 11,000 to 14,500 degrees Fahrenheit deep inside the target. It wasn't the microscopic hole that killed the target, rather the super heated plasma that was left behind that did.
This particular type of weapon is more commonly seen in its larger version that's mounted on tanks and warships as it could pierce through most forms of energy barriers and if left on a target long enough it would pierce through just about anything.
While some of these weapons would be modified with either a beam expander or a pulse compressor, and came with a bipod this particular rifle was the stock model and that didn't come with any extra fun stuff.
The disadvantages of the weapon came in the forms of size and weight, being approximately 5ft (1.52 m) long and weighing 150lbs (68 kg). It was both long and heavy, which made shoulder firing a non option for most and just carrying the weapon for a while would exhaust soldiers easily.
Luck proceeded to get familiar with the weight and feel of the fem-tech laser rifle while practicing looking down the sights and reloading the weapon for a minute. Then he went into the room and started his combat test.
As soon as he entered a humanoid drone that resembled a crash dummy came out of a hidden wall near him. Luck focused his mind to the max and the drone appeared to be moving in slow motion.
Instead of using the rifle right away he began to observe the drone for a moment. It had no visible weapons and its movements were very slow to him. It was now a few feet from him so he propped the heavy rifle up against the wall before deciding he would try to go hand to hand with this one.
When he got into range the drone reared back and swung a wild haymaker at his face, using his right hand Luck grabbed the drones wrist and pulled hard, the drones own momentum combined with Luck pulling its arm caused the drone to become off balance and it stumbled forward. Taking advantage of the situation Luck quickly got behind the drone, grabbing the drones chin with one hand and placing his other hand on the back of the drones head he swiftly ended the fight by violently twisting the drones head around 180 degrees.
Before the drones body even hit the floor, more drones appeared from another hidden door 10 feet (3m) from him. Taking a firm grip on the fallen drones body he lifts it up and gather momentum by spinning in a tight circle before launching the drone like a discus into the newcomers.
He had expected the drones to split up and dodge his makeshift projectile but they both got hit and slammed into the wall. From the hidden doors 3 more drones emerge and one of two he had hit was still moving so Luck rushes over to the downed drone and before it could stand up he slams his knee into its head. The drone was up against the wall and having nowhere to go Lucks knee shatters it's head. Seeing the small shower of broken parts rain out of the broken drone he grins satisfied with the display.
Feeling a sharp pain in his knee, that pain reminded him that using his body to fight metal wasn't the best idea. Quickly healing his knee, Luck looks around and takes note that he now had 6 drones to fight and one was blocking his path, back to his rifle.
Sprinting to the drone that was in the way to his weapon, he decides to end it fast. Getting into range Luck leaps towards the drone with a flying kick, and just before it lands the drone side stepped the kick and punched him hard in the ribs.
Time had been passing by swiftly and one minute had passed which released the first limiter on the drones. They were 20% faster and smarter now.
Furious that the drone had taken him by surprise and hurt him, Luck could feel that the drone had fractured a few of his ribs. Healing himself while he contorted in the hair he landed on his feet.
Seeing the other 6 drones closing in on him he knew he was out of time, so ignoring the drone that hit him, he used the extra space from being knocked back to make a dash for his weapon.
Getting his hands on the large rifle, the other drones were now within 10 feet of him and the one who hit him was almost within striking range. Jumping backwards while taking aim at the nearest drone he pulls the trigger and the drone collapses on the floor instantly.
Feeling a little unsatisfied that the drones head didn't explode, he quickly takes aim at the other drones which now numbered 7 and within a few seconds 14 new drones were emerging. Except these drones were uniformly equipped with short swords.
Firing with machine like precision Luck swiftly dispatched another 2 waves of drones and after reloading there was now so many drones in the room he would have to stop and count them to figure out how many were there. The drones we're emerging from all directions forcing Luck to shoot and move at the same time to avoid getting surrounded.
Staying on the move was working well but he would take a hit occasionally from one that appeared in his blind spot. When this happened he would just heal himself almost instantly but his uniform was starting to look a bit ragged. After the 5th minute mark had passed the new drones came out with guns of their own, that fired rubber bullets.
Meanwhile the floor in the room started to change as well, now the room provided pillars that would serve as cover and small hill like terrain features.
Luck had been doing pretty well, and he had destroyed all the drones that only had a sword, so everything that was left was firing a gun at him. As the 7th minute passed, he was taking hits every few seconds that tore his uniform even more and left him with bleeding and bruised whenever he was hit.
After being thoroughly surrounded Luck fought his way to a pillar in the corner of the room. Taking cover behind the pillar he was taking shots whenever he could but his weapon was too long and he had to expose himself every time he wanted to shoot.
At this point he was taking more hits than the drones and he knew he was going to get over run any second. Just like he thought would happen a few seconds later, the relentless drones charged his position in masse with no regard to their own safety and he suffered from more than 30 direct hits that ended the test.
Near the end he was taking so much damage that it had messed his concentration up from the pain and he couldn't focus enough to heal himself. After that final barrage he was on his knees with blood oozing out of dozens of wounds.
Using his rifle to help him stand up he took a look at himself and he thought he looked a hell of a lot worse than the dwarf from earlier. His uniform was almost completely destroyed, and the scraps of cloth that still hung on his body was wet with blood. The rubber bullets packed enough force to break his skin and he could even see some of the bullets were still lodged halfway into him.
[System - Stop daydreaming and heal yourself before you lose consciousness.
Hearing Yuki's warning in his mind he knew his situation must be pretty bad. With his current aptitude and energy level he didn't have to close his eyes and focus so hard anymore to heal, as he could always feel his connection with his energy. Picturing himself how he was before he left this morning he started to heal himself.
His blood that was all over the place was drawn back inside his body like a magnet. The rubber bullets that we're still lodged in his skin popped out and the bruises and entry holes vanished like they were never there.
*All better, thanks for the warning and sorry for worrying you.*
Looking down at himself now, it was impossible to tell that he had taken any damage apart from his uniform that was currently in such a state it was not even fit to be called clothing anymore.
Elsewhere Yuki was smiling brightly, Luck had exceeded her expectations and that made her very happy.
In the scoring room, the attendants jaw hung slack in shock as he had witnessed the entire thing. The two other men in the room were both smiling however. "What do you think Doc?" The Colonel asks with a smile that only touched one side of his face.
"As we suspected his healing ability is S grade, his hand to hand combat is just raw and instinctive. Even so he's a natural fighter, his shooting skill is really impressive, especially being untrained and using that old monster fem-tech rifle."
Pausing for a moment to think, Doc continues "If we think about his age, this kids a genius. His reaction speed and thought process are far faster than what his physical data would suggest."
"I agree, I like that he fought to the end and didn't give up and he didn't try to run up the clock by avoiding fighting. He's got the right stuff, with the right training and team he could be a real asset to have." Colonel Rico replies to Doc before looking at the attendant. "Put that boy down as a level 25 irregular and send in his sister now."
