'I'm... A genius?'
I mean, I've always known that about my music ability, but I never thought I'd be so good at magic as well.
"If you're intelligience stats were already this high, why haven't you learnt how to use it?" Alice asks.
She looks at me in the eye, her face visibly baffled. There was a hint of worry in her irises as well.
"Well... My family is poor, so I never got those kinds of opportunities." I explain.
I felt a bit embarrassed, telling her that. She seems to be from a rich family, so what if she pities me? Or feels disgusted?
l shake the thoughts out of my head.
"Really? Well, that explains a lot. Anyhow, I want to ask you something!"
A wave of relief rushes over me. But, I felt a bit nervous instead. 'She wants to ask me something?'
I fiddle with the head of a daisy next to me as I wait. Alice coiffs the hair away from her face.
"So, how about this: You teach me that song on the recorder, and I teach you some basic magic!" She exclaims brightly.
'I teach her... And she teaches me?'
I ponder for a moment, but I quickly come to the conclusion that there really aren't any downsides to agreeing.
"Sure! I'd love to." I reply.
"Really? Great!"
Alice raises her hands and pressed her fingertips together while tilting her head. I could almost see the flowers glowing and everything other than her just faded into the background.
Her lips, her eyes, her nose, her cheeks... Everything about her was captivating me and alluring me in.
I realise how hot my cheeks and ears had become and I swallow my saliva.
'Have I... Fallen...' But thinking that just made my face even redder.
"So, how about we meet again tomorrow?" She asks, causing me to get startled.
"T-tomorrow? Hahaha, s-sure!" I stutter, spitting the first thing that comes to my mind.
"Then it's settled. We'll both teach each other and become even better friends!" Alice giggles.
I think back to what my father said. 'Don't make any promises on a whim.'
'I'm sorry, dad.'
Alice and I talk for a while, but it was mainly about me. She never brought up herself, and kept the conversation based on me. I disliked it, as I wanted to get to know her. But, everytime I'm attempt to change the subject, she'd swiftly dodge it.
I look up and see that the sun was reasonably low.
"I think I may have to go home now. It was really fun talking to you!"
I stand up and Alice follows after me.
"Aww, I can't believe that time went so quick." She sighs.
Alice looks at me with soft eyes and I can't help but to smile to myself.
"Well, I'll see you tomorrow then!" I wave, about to jump over the fence.
"Um, Rei?"
I look back at Alice, who was standing up still.
"Thank you for coming today, I really appreciate it."
Even at such a distance, I could see a lively glimmer in her pink eyes. And her voice laced with sugar was enough to make my heart beat hasten.
"Y-yeah, no problem."
I leave Alice and find myself walking in the market place.
I find a corner, crouch down and ruffle my hair.
'Why am I so awkward?!!!'
I cover my face with my hands, trying to hide my mega blush.
'Hopefully, she doesn't think too poorly of me...'
I think back to me past life.
I hadn't had any experience with romance, besides the occasional confession from others. So, this is all very foreign to the innocent me. It was scary, yet exciting.
"Are you alright?"
I fall over at the sudden questioned tossed at me.
I look up and see a young girl with pastel purple hair, whose probably a few years younger than me. She had a small face with a beauty mole right below her left eye.
"Um, yeah, I am." I reply, still a bit dazed.
"Here," She monotonously says, while putting her hand out.
I stare at it for a moment, before realising that she wants to help me up.
"O-oh, thanks." I say awkwardly, taking her hand.
'This is so embarrassing... Being helped by a kid.'
I dust my behind off and look down at her. I do think of myself to be short at the moment, but she's tiny.
"What were you doing on the ground?"
"Nothing, haha. Just... Thinking."
There was an uncomfortable silence between us.
"So, where do you live? I just moved in here, you see." She converses; gesturing to a road leading to some houses.
"I live over there. And welcome to our town, I guess." I reply, pointing to my house.
"Thanks, I'm happy to be here."
More silence.
"So... My parents are probably expecting me." She slurs.
"Yeah, mine too."
"Okay, I'll see you..."
"You too."
We just slowly shift away from each other.
'What was up with that? How is it possible for a conversation to be that awkward?'
I just shudder and hope I don't run into her again. If I do, I'd have more things to think about. And my head is already full of various thought.
For example, I find out I'm a magic genius and I get to teach and get taught by my... Friend. Yeah, friend.
I start to hum as I skip down the busy street.
'Having too many thoughts is okay, as long as they are about good things!'
