"Catch him he's getting away"
"Traitor"
"For the sake of this kingdom and the queen you will die by my Steel".
Do you know what it's like to run for your life? If not then you are a blessed individual for you have been gifted a life of peace and prosperity. Ahh, a peaceful life maybe one on a farm or maybe one with a family in a big city. That would be nice I would like to live like that.
"Someone kill that bastard why isn't he dead yet?".
But a peaceful life isn't for everyone. Many people never get a decision on who they would become. That wasn't me I made a choice about what I would do and who I would do it for. I did it for many years without fail and I was good at it really good. But now things are different my job is over and I can protect her no longer.
With my duties as a knight over now I run. I run from the very men who I once served beside, commanded into battle, and thought of as friends. Now they want my head just as much as everyone else will when they hear of what I have done. No place is safe for me now. I have nowhere to call my home. No one to truly call my friend. My fate and destiny now is to only run, run until my legs ache, run until my feet bleed, run even as I die of thirst and exhaustion, to run until I cannot anymore and someone's blade finally finds their mark or I am captured and hanged as a traitor with a noose around my neck.
For someone such as I that's the last option is the least favorable. As a warrior I should charge headstrong into battle. I should let out a war cry that inspires my men and instills fear into my enemies. When I die it should be a standing death on a battlefield. My body should inspire other Warriors to charge forth to fight till the end. Though I knew it was too great of a dream I kind of hoped that's how my end would have been like. But instead of that this might actually be my end instead.
It is night time now I'm running desperately forward on an open plain with tall cliffs that's dropped off into the ocean. The tall untrimmed grass beat against my armored leggings. Though it was difficult to move through the muck of the earth I found the tallgrass more annoying. But that didn't slow me down what did was a wound in my thigh and the muddy ground. The wet sloppy ground might as well have been quicksand. My feet only sunk a few inches down but during this precarious situation that was the difference between life and death.
It slowed me down enough for the men chasing me to get a good lock on my position. Bullets rain down on my back like a hail storm. Some shots managed to get through my plated armor but the place that the bullet got through we're not critical to my survival. An ornate round shield was hung on my back it protected my vitals as I ran forward with all my might.
With each step, more bullets tore through me. Though my body was built quite well allowing me to tower over others like a giant amongst men I still bled like everyone else. Rivers of my blood flowed from my body dying the green grass red. It sprinkled around the area I ran like a fresh morning dew aiding in the growth of new life long after I am gone.
The chill air felt nice on my open wounds it was a small comfort in this desperate situation. A situation that got increasingly worse as the ground erupted around of me. To insure my death they were bombarding me from a distance. I looked up into the sky tracking the angle of each bomb's descent. With quick footwork, I moved out of the way before any bomb landed before me.
I breathe out heavily this constant dance that I'm forced to do is just getting harder by the minute. I waved through grass and bombs while under constant gunfire now only to hear the roar of motor engines. The dark of the night was chased away as headlights from cars shined on my back.
For now there were two of them and each car was hot on my tail. It didn't take long for the drivers to catch up to me. Mounted guns were on both of the cars. The moment I saw the mini guns I knew that I had to take care of them or else escape would be impossible.
Without hesitation I stopped running away instead I ran towards the danger directly at one of the cars chasing me down. The shooter on the back of the car open fire at me. I took out the shield that I had on my back. My coat of arms display proudly on its surface. It shined in the light of the car's headlights and took the full brunt of the mini guns barrage. Countless bullets landed on the surface of my shield and were easily deflected by me. A lesser individual would have been forced back by the endless stream of gunfire before being ripped apart by the voly, but I am not like most men. I dug my heel into the ground and I ran forward. I do not Buckle or yield in the face adversity. I take any obstacle and I destroy it.
My charge toward the gunfire was like splitting a river. My charge did not stop and it's terrified the driver who saw me sleeping towards the windshield of the car. Both my feet crashed forward shattering the glass and even the nose of the driver who was knocked out by my gorgeous blow. The drivers nose bent in a odd angle. As he was left drooling in his seat.
Inside the car I punched the face of the second passenger who was too busy dealing with glass shards in his eyes to properly defend himself. His head smacked the window on a driver side from the force of my punch and was knocked out just the same.
While sitting in the lap of the unconscious driver I took the wheel and then made the car turn a hard left towards the other pursuing vehicle. The other car tried to move out of the way but I was persistent and rammed into their side before they could. With both our cars next to each other I stuck my hand out the window and grabbed the door.
With my strong grip latched onto the door I made it impossible for the other car to drive away without dragging me along with them. Taking my round shield I broke the window on the passenger side of the car. The passenger in the other car took his handgun and fired at me. I blocked each of his shots with my shield that was now pressed up against his face as I jumped through my window into theirs entering their car.
The first car I was in drove off out of control into the distance before crashing into a rock in a field nearly flipping it completely over . I elbowed the passenger who I was basically laying on and then kept my shield in between me and the driver keeping him from interfering with what I was doing. My first firs on the passenger seated soldier broke his teeth. My second attack broke his jaw. He tried to retaliate by stabbing me with a dagger that he kept strapped to his leg but I kept his arm locked in place as I choked him out.
I did not do that for long because as I had my hand wrapped around his scrawny neck I threw him nearly out the driver's side window. The guard's head slammed through it. Scattering glass all over I have half of his body dangled out of the window. The driver in this car had a difficulty driving straight As his colleagues body was obstructing him. He couldn't even defend himself properly from me because his arms were pinned under his colleagues body.
I punch that man repeatedly until he was left in a daze. I would have knocked him out but another car drove up next to this one. Unlike the other two cars I took this one out slightly differently. With a powerful leap I jumped through the roof of the car. Blasting the roof off of it and sending the car into a spiral. With great speed and force I came crashing down next to the third car that had just shown up. With a downward motion my shield spliced into the upper left front wheel of the car. The tire exploded and the car flipped from the sudden imbalance while going at top speed.
I ran with the tumbling car that's started to smoke as it caught fire. Though I destroyed these cars in quick succession more were bound to be on their way. The shouts and attacks from the distance where endless.
They would keep coming for me without rest. So I decided to end this pursuit myself. As I ran I arrived at the end of the valley. It was just me, a cliff, and the vast ocean before me with a bunch of sharp jagged rocks directly at the bottom.
My blood flowed as freely as the sea. Red rivers branched off and connected all throughout my body. I had hoped for more but apparently, hope was not enough. It appears my path ends here I lived, I served, I fought, and now I die. The sea will reclaim us all at least I made it's job slightly more easy by running towards it. I wonder if this will gain me any favors with the god of steam in the afterlife. Unquestioning in what I must do I took a step forward bringing my story to a close.
