Chapter 31 - Fated Encounters

Ugh, 7 days I have been stuck on this boat for 7 days. That's how long I've had to come to grip with the mistake that I have done. In my drunken rampage I potentially hurt or killed who knows how many people. I'm fine with killing people for self-defense I've done it before. I'm even fine with killing for my own food.

None of that means anything to me but for me to senselessly hurt others for absolutely no reason that is not me. That was the demons I kept bottled up in my heart. I knew how bad I get when I get drunk but this is a new low. My legacy already makes me a dangerous person. If it weren't for June's interference who knows how many people I would have hurt.

For that I am in Julia's debt she saved me from myself and an untold amount of others from me as well. I still find it hard to believe that June was able to physically restrain me and beat me in a fight even if I was drunk at the time the notion seems implausible. But I gave her the benefit of the doubt that my arm was ripped off during our fight and not taken from me when I was asleep which if true would have sucked even more.

Though I say that I do so lightly because now I am in a very precarious situation. I am deeply indebted to June but I am also very weary of her because she still is the woman who ate my left arm. I never tried it before but Gregory told me that Flintwood had the ability to manipulate flesh so reconnecting my missing limb was a possibility for me. But now since it was eaten I am down one arm before my journey even starts. The epic lies I'll have to construct to mislead people from the truth of my missing arm is going to be a pain but a doable one.

I have attempted repeatedly to regrow my missing limb but it has ended in failure. I for one do not even know if such a thing is even possible. If Flintwood could do it that knowledge is unknown to me as well. I know that I am significantly weakened by this injury but I am also fine with it as well. I hurt people without the intent, yes but I still hurt them. So, I shall let that arm be a sacrifice, it shall serve as my penance and a reminder of what I did and just how dangerous I truly am.

Well that's being said I am still extremely terrified of June. A person with good intentions or not she still ate my arm. If I wasn't so much in debt to her that I would have attacked her after finding out of this information. I try to understand why she did it contemplating if it was some kind of unique situation I was unaware of. Her answer to my question was plain and simply "I was hungry so I ate it". Those words stuck with me for a long time. Though I have spent an entire week alone with the woman I have not slept once. June looks cute, and harmless like a doll but that is far from the truth. I'm going mad from his lack of sleep but I have to stay awake or else I feel June may eat my other arm or worse.

I can live without one arm but I am screwed without both. My eyes are sore they ached and burned just as my skin under the blazing sun. I watched June's every movement always making sure to be not too close and not too far from her at all times. I wanted her to believe me to be a friend. She wouldn't eat her friend right? But I also stayed far enough to react in case of any sudden attack.

some people might think that I'm overreacting she's clearly not going to eat you since she stopped you from wreaking havoc in town and went through the trouble of stealing a boat and rushed off with you into the distant ocean just to save your life and make sure you escaped persecution.

That statement has validity but that's not how I see it. From my traumatized and sleep deprived point of view she took a liking to me not in any way sexual. But at one point she started to see me as a reliable source of food. Now after she saved me and had a taste of the real thing she didn't just see me as a source of food she saw me as the food. you want to call me crazy say I'm overreacting I would like to see you prove me wrong.

My eyes were bloodshot as I stared at June who looked at me like I was a bit nuts. A bit of drool trickled down my lips as my eyes didn't move an inch from her form. June looked down at me as she said, " you do know that you have been talking to yourself out loud this whole time right".

Nathaniel's response was lagging behind so much that June snap their fingers loudly making Nathanial flinch. He jumped up in Fright and got in a defensive stance. He checked all sides attempting to locate the danger but found only June.

June looked sad as she apologized to Nathaniel again, "look I'm sorry for eating your arm I really needed it. That fight with you drained me a bit which made me hungry. I'm not going to eat you I swear so you can sleep whenever you want. How many times do I have to explain that to you before you believe me? you barely even talk to me since you woken up how can you know I'm dangerous if you won't even speak to me?".

Nathaniel was still on the fence of trusting June but no sleep for 7 days is a very bad for his health. He already has demons plaguing his nightmares he didn't need to experience hallucinations now of all times.

Listening to June's words Nathaniel could only reluctantly agreed. After Mustering up the carriage to act like the adult he is Nathaniel decided to redo their whole relationship from the start.

"Alright I admit this has gone on a bit long so let's get to know each other again from the start. I'll start us off my name is Nathaniel. I come from Dobin Shire, my favorite food is cheesecake paired with ice coffee, and I am an explorer. I dislike being eaten in my sleep and I hate one man in particular. now it's your turn miss".

June was happy to finally get through to Nathaniel. She excitedly replied, " my name is June Hayes. I come from the central continent, my favorite food is kind of strange it's a cream biscuit that an old neighbor us to make for me when I was a kid. I've been craving it for years but I'm not much of a cook and everyone I ask can't get the recipe right. I don't really have a job anymore but I'm good at. Also I dislike being lied to a lot. So, how did I do trust me, yet".

June acted like some easily pleased puppy in Nathaniel eyes. Nathaniel took what useless information she gave him and try to compile a profile on June. Her accent is that of a country girl not someone you would find in the central continent . so, from this Nathaniel learned that June was either really sweet or really innocent and considering she ate his arm she's going to go with sweet but far from innocent.

" Alright June with that introduction out of the way why aren't you telling me what you are doing in that town from before.".

June didn't hesitate to reply, " oh, I was there because it was the closest town I could find when I left the Navy".

Nathaniel had to do a double take after June said that. he thought he heard her wrong the first time.

" so let me get this straight you were there because you quit the world Navy".

June shook her head vigorously as if she didn't even fully understand what she was admitting to.

" People usually don't just up and quit the navy. So why did you quit was the training too difficult for you".

June shook her head," I went through the full training. So, Stop trying to belittle me. I have no problem with hard work you know I use to work on a ranch".

"And yet you still ran away from your civil duty? ".

June scoffed at that," screw civil duty I didn't like it there, so I left".

Nathaniel even in his sleep deprived state could not believe what he heard. "didn't like it so you left. That honestly sounds just like me. Tell me how old are you? ".

June Shrugged her shoulders as she replied, " I turn 20 not too long ago".

after hearing June's reply Nathaniel couldn't hold back his laugh, " 20, you're twenty and you told the world governments to fuck off. You're similar to my brother's daughter yet you just might have bigger balls than her".

Nathaniel crumpled to the ground in defeat, " I've been on edge because of you for 7 days. only to find out you're just like me in a way you didn't like something so you left its as simple as that. I'm sorry for how I've been acting. you went through great lengths to save me yet I have been ungrateful and rude.".

June's eyes lit up like stars in the night then she clasped her hands together and said, " does this mean you'll finally trust me? ".

"This is the bridge to the start of trust".

"But that still means you trust me to watch over you while you sleep right".

June's words were met with silence and a dead eye stare. Nathaniel didn't say yes nor did he say no. He will just have to take the risk and sleep with one eye open. June wasn't satisfied with not receiving a clear answer but it was better than before.

As time passed on the ship for the both of them Nathaniel was sure of one thing when it came to June she had no shame. Not in the sense of guilt when it comes to words or actions, but in the sense that she doesn't seem to be embarrassed by normal things other people would be embarrassed about or uncomfortable with.

when June was hot she would take off her shirts and let her two supple mounds free to be seen and when she went to use the bathroom she stuck her butt off the side of the boat not caring if I was watching or not. our small boat had no bathroom so this was the only option.

Though June was beautiful I felt nothing even as I saw her naked. I was not some shy prepubescent boy who would get overly excited over every small thing. My mind is always focused on whatever tasks lay before me. Plus me giving in to carnal desires for the woman who ate my arm really makes no sense. I'm pretty sure even on a deserted island I would beat her away with a stick just to ensure my own safety then risk mating with her.

As June was relieving herself she gazed out into the vast open sea. The water was still barely any waves rocked the boat. Light refractive off the water surface the glimmering lights shined on the ocean making it look like a large Jewel. This jewel was ever changing and immaculate. On the waters surface, a strange twinkle caught June's eyes.

It was not the sheen you would see on the sea when the lights are only reflected on water. This was something different and June was intrigued buy it. June clothed herself then quickly made her way to the other side of the boat. She squinted her eyes what she saw was still only a glimmer but as time passed that a glimmer started taking form. It was the form of a man clad in armor bobbing up and down by the gentle waves.

June became wide-eyed by this discovery. She ran to tell Nathaniel but he was partially in a daze from the lack of sleep. With only herself to rely on at the moment June took charge. She took the sails and steered the boat towards the man floating in the ocean. It took a bit of work but the boat eventually moved where she wanted it to with a grown as the wood creaked when it moved.

After a quick sale June was able to reach the man with it in a few minutes. Without even taking off her clothes June dove into the water. She swam towards the man clad in armor who seem to be kept only afloat by his Shield.

When June arrived next to him she saw that he was much larger than her. He clearly had a well-built physique that many people even athletes could not compare to. He had a rough short beard, his light skin was tan, there was a small scar on the bottom of his eye, and he had dirty blond hair that drooped onto his face. June slugged her arm over this man and paddled her way back to the ship. Swimming and climbing on board with him was a lot harder than she thought. She didn't know if it was just the armor or the man himself but he was quite heavy which didn't mislead from his size.

June dropped the man onto the floor with a thump his body dipped the ship. While his armor clanked around making a lot of noise. June got down on one knee and inspected the man's vitals. She was pleased to see that the man was still breathing. But didn't like the state he was in. The man had been in a gun fight clear from his armor that was spattered with bullet holes. There where even bullets wounds in his arms and legs. As well as a few burn marks from what she could presume was a fire or from something else entirely.

She guessed that this man was either a soldier or a guard of some kind for a ship because of where she found him. As June was inspecting the man she began to notice that the man was releasing steam off of his body. June knew that only those who possessed extraordinary physiques like Nathaniel would usually do that. It was a clear sign of them rapidly healing themselves.

Upon closer inspection June notice that's the man lying unconscious before her had a few bullets still stuck in his body. June shoved her finger inside his wound and pulled out a single bullet. This bullet was made of metal it burnt the unconscious man's skin when she placed it on him. By this information alone June knew that this man was definitely not one of God's chosen since God's chosen do not have their bodies affected by metal. He either used a relic at one point In his life or is a legacy holder.

June having a firm enough understanding of what what's wrong with the man began treating him. The ship didn't have much of anything they didn't even have food onboard let alone the tools needed to treat wounds as severe as his. All she could really do was rap the man up in cloth after digging out any of the bullets that she could with her fingers and other lose instruments lying around and hope his bleeding stops.

If the man got sick or got some infection then there was really nothing June could do about that besides watch him suffer. If it didn't take long for June to find some scrap laying around to bandage the bleeding Soldier. As she was doing this Nathaniel seemed to have gained some sense of awareness back as he noticed the bleeding man on the ship. What June didn't expect was the following words out of Nathaniel's mouth.

Nathaniel's eyes struggled to focus on the unconscious man on the floor. But when they did Nathaniel stammered forward as he said, "man, man there's another man on this ship. Yes, I'm saved June eat him instead spare me".

June didn't even have the time to respond or get angry at Nathaniel for what he said because he immediately fell forward onto his stomach and started to snore loudly as he fell asleep. Though June didn't like what Nathaniel said she did understand where all of this was coming from. Since she did eat his arm a thing that she kind of regretted doing but also didn't because at the time she desperately needed to do it unless she wanted something bad to happen.

How was she supposed to know that Nathaniel could have probably reattached his arm if it was still whole. To her, at the time it was just a sexy slab of meat that was going to rot away if no one ate it so she took responsibility and did the deed. Though she thought this way on hindsight she also believe that she probably should have asked for permission first because if she did then maybe all of this wouldn't have happened.

With Nathaniel asleep and the new passenger completely incapacitated June was in charge of managing best ship. She still didn't know where land was but she did know that Nathaniel seemed pretty confident that we would eventually arrived at some island or shipping route if they kept sailing towards the moon since it stayed locked in place all the time and was a good navigation tool for sailors lost at sea. not having much of anything else to go on by that June kept the ship sailing straight towards the direction of the moon.
