The world was ending.
A meteorite was incoming towards Earth.
The world powers had tried various methods at stopping it however nothing worked.
Politicians and the rich had already sent themselves to space to watch Earth ending at the very least.
In the end the rich still had the best seats.
Other politicians decided to remain on Earth only to maintain the world ending a secret. These politicians didn't want to see public order dissolve in Humanity's final moments.
It was a real shame.
World War 3 had ended only 50 years prior to the Meteorite. Earth was peaceful and more united than ever. During WW3 many countries had decided to disband or merge into one country.
The United Federation was one such massive country in North America. They controlled the entire North America. Minus Greenland.
To the south, in Mexico, was the Republic who frequently had tensions with the Federation. The Republic owned the entire Central America.
All of this didn't actually matter as the world was ending but consolation I suppose.
Star City.
The sky was cloudless and the sun cooked the city.
Life went on in the medium sized city. With a population of 20 million people Star City was only regarded as a medium sized in the United Federation.
This Earth was much bigger then our own and richer in resources.
A young man with black hair and green eyes walked out of the office of Cobra Esports after a long day of gaming.
Normally anyone would kill for his job however Sam was distraught. He knew it was only a matter of time until his contract ended and then Cobra would likely not renew it.
Sam was talented in gaming however in front of a crowd he would make mistakes and throw the game.
Sam hadn't won a single tournament in his first 9 months while pro gaming.
Sam walked to the bus stop and waited for the bus to arrive. When the bus arrived he rode the bus home and walked up the apartment stairs.
He opened the door to his small apartment. It had a kitchen, bedroom but no living room which Sam didn't mind. Rent was cheaper in a smaller apartment and for just himself it was good.
Nonetheless, city life was expensive and even this small apartment cost him $900 a month.
Sam jumped on his bed and thought to himself 'has it already been a year? I wonder how everyone else is doing'
It had been a year since he moved into Star city.
Sam's family lived outside the city where land was cheaper and they could own a house.
His family was quite big with his 3 sisters. He was the oldest out of all of them and had taken the initiative to move into the big city.
His sisters moved into Star city after him, however they had decided to go to university. Sam's academia life had never been bad; just always ok. It was probably due to spending most of his free time gaming at home.
Despite all of this, Sam was complacent with himself as he had never relied on his family since moving into Star city. He didn't disdain his sisters for relying on his parents to pay for university tuition; he just personally didn't want to be a burden.
His father was an architect and made $200,000 a year but it was still difficult to run a full 6 person family.
"I'm sure everything will work out somehow." Sam muttered to himself.
As Sam reflected he opened his phone and checked his calendar.
It was the 8th of March and Sam still had about 3 months until his contract ended. He would try and win at least one tournament in that time.
Sam exhaled while laying on his bed thinking about all of this.
He got up and microwaved some leftover pizza he had yesterday.
After eating the soggy pizza, he plopped into his chair to scour the internet. Sam checked the news but nothing interested him.
Simply politicians squabbling about a newly found oil region on the border with the Republic.
Sam didn't know what it was, but he felt as thought something would happen today. Sam had always had decent intuition on things.
Sam sighed unable to 'feel' anything.
Suddenly, Sam felt his consciousness begin to fade.
!!
The next moment when Sam awoke he was shocked.
"What just happened..." Sam muttered
Sam stared at the seemingly endless white that surrounded him.
The next thing that appeared was a holographic display.
