Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 What Now?

"I don't know what my plan is right now, but you should head home before my father finds out that you're involved." I said while pouring myself a cup of ale.

"Home? This is the most fun I've had in a while, and do you really think your father doesn't know of my involvement. Who else is dumb enough to rescue you. He's probably seeking an audience with my father as we speak."

"Why did you kill your brother anyway?" Patxi asked as he took another sip of his ale.

With eyes as cold as an Arctic winter I glared at him, but before I could say anything Marcus kick my foot.

"Patxi, mind your business, and Damien, calm down. We have to come up with a plan."

"What? If I'm going to be an accessory after the fact I should at least know why he did it. If they find out that I helped you, my head will be on a spike somewhere."

"With your head on a spike it wouldn't matter if you knew or you didn't. So drop it before I toss you in that furnace over there." I replied.

Seeing how things were turning from bad to worse Marcus interjected.

"While you were washing your ass, Patix was telling me about a portal that can transport us out of Hell to a completely different domain."

"A different domain?" I asked

"Yeah, but he said before he tells us where it's located he has a condition."

I looked Patix in the eyes and asked. "What would that be?"

"You have to take my daughter with you." He said while trying to avoid eye contact.

I couldn't help but laugh. "So you're telling me, that we're supposed to take a human girl on the run from the King of Hell and possibly even the King of Vampires? And here I thought you loved your daughter."

"I do love my daughter, that's the reason why I'm asking. If your fathers find out I helped you two escape my daughter and I are as good as dead. I don't know what you've heard but purgatory is not the best place for a vacation. Also, she isn't technically human, since she died and came to Hell she's classified as a low-level demon."

"I see your point but it wouldn't matter if she was a low-level demon or a human, dead weight is dead weight. Even if we did take her, I couldn't guaranty her safety."

"What if you give her your blood? That would increase her bloodline and allow her to at least defend herself." Marcus said while leaning back in his chair looking at the ceiling.

"Have you lost your damn mind? My father already wants to kill me if I did that he would also destroy my soul ending any chance of me being brought back to life."

For the next few minutes, the room was dead quiet. Than with no warning Patxi jumped up, and ran to the back room that was filled with junk. I could hear stuff being thrown around with no regard to the items.

Patxi ran back into the room out of breath and sweat running down his face.

"How was the work out?" I asked.

"Fruitful." He said with a smile revealing his crooked yellow teeth.

"In what way?" Marcus asked

Patxi hobbled back to his seat and after catching his breath he laid an item on the table. The item was a bright red gem that was about the size of a baby's fist.

Marcus and I both jumped out of our seats.

"Where did you get that?" We asked in unison.

"It was about ten years ago, a warlock who was down on his luck couldn't pay for the items he needed, so exchanged this gem for them. At the time I didn't have a use for it, so I put it away."

"You had such an item just thrown in that shit hole of a room. What else do you have in there?" Marcus asked while looking over his shoulder to where the room was.

"Nothing for you. Now let's get back to the blood gem, as you know, this item is extremely rare."
