Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 A New Face Followed By An Old One

Patxi continued explaining about the blood gem as Marcus and I listened intently after taking our seats again.

"So what do you two know about the blood gem?" Patxi asked.

"That everyone in Hell would love to get their hands on it."

I replied, as Marcus nodded in agreement

"Exactly, honestly though the only information I know is what the warlock told me. He said that once the gem is submerged in the blood of a supernatural entity all of their powers and bloodline can then be transferred by ten folds." He said while looking at the gem.

"What do you plan to do with it." Marcus asked.

"Give it to my daughter of course. The warlock already transferred his blood into it, so it would be useless to the two of you."

He said with a smile, as if knowing it would lead to our disappointment.

"Why would he transfer his blood into it then give it to you? Also what could he need so badly that he was willing to exchange a blood gem for it?" I asked.

"Well, from my understanding he had planned to give it to someone else, but he didn't go into great detail about it. For your second question, there is such a thing as blacksmith and customer confidentiality." He replied.

"Okay, I agree to bring your daughter along. Where is she by the way?"

Realizing that I wouldn't get a straight answer, I chose to ignore his bullshit reply.

"Vera!" Patxi yelled without any regard to our eardrums.

Marcus and I looked around the room like lost children looking for their parents. Then the door next to the washroom I used earlier opened and out stepped Vera.

Vera looked like Lucifer created her himself. Her skin tone was a honey brown and she had green eyes that could make a forest jealous. Vera's hair was dark brown with waves as deep as the sea and her body had curves like a country backroad. A true work of art I thought to myself.

Marcus jumped out of his seat the moment his eyes fell on her.

"The name is Marcus, son of King Draco." He said trying to sound as smooth as possible.

"Set down stupid, are you really trying to use your fathers name to pick up a girl."

"What can I say, I'm an opportunist Damien."

He said while waving a hand to the seat next to his, insinuating that Vera should set next to him. Before he took his seat he leaned in close to my face and said.

"I call dibs my friend."

I could only shake my head at him.

"Let's get back to business."

As if my sentence was a timer, the teleportation pad started to glow that blinding sky blue color I've come to hate. Like moths to a flame, all of our eyes were drawn to the portal as a man stepped out with ten warriors following right behind him.

The man was around six-four and had on the same armor I did. He had blue eyes and a chiseled jaw that was almost hidden behind his five o'clock shadow. He was wearing a smile that showcased his perfectly aligned teeth.

"Well, well, well, If it isn't my darling baby brother. Getting used to these teleportation pads is impossible am I right? The man asked as cracking his neck.

"Konrad."

I said between gritted teeth as my hands subconsciously turned into fists. Marcus and I both stood up and took a few steps in Konrad's direction. I looked over my shoulder to see Patxi whispering something in Vera's ear before I once again turned to faced my eldest brother.

"I see my little ploy to keep you all distracted didn't pan out." I said

Marcus cut in by saying. "Didn't I tell you that you were underestimating them Damien?"

I elbowed his arm and asked.

"Damn, Who's side are you on?"

"Did you really think that little trick would work? Leaving bodies on empty teleportation pads, how long did you hope that would distract us? Your sidekick is right by the way, and that is your biggest problem my dear bother. You think you are smarter than everyone around you."

"So what now, are you going to frame me for something else or just kill me as well?" I asked.

Marcus couldn't help but look at me with the "What the fuck are you talking about" face.

"With the amount of effort I'm sure it took to convince father for you to come in his stead, I'm leaning more on the latter rather than the former." I said following up my question.

"Very good Damien, you may have a brain after all." Konrad said, as he slowly clapped his hands three times while he stepped closer.

"Marcus, protect your new girlfriend and her handicapped father. We can't allow or ticket out to get punched just yet. I'll try to buy you some time as you all escape through the back door."

"To hell with that, that bitch called me a sidekick, and if he did what I think he did I want to..."

"Marcus! Now is not the time, right now we need to retreat so we can fight him on our own terms."

"Fine, but if you die I'm going to bring you back and kill you again."
