Chapter 20 - Hadar's Dense Ruler

(Hadar POV)

I wonder what's going on.

My guts sensed something terrible happened behind my back.

I wanted to watch the news today, but I still had some documents to review carefully and I needed to analyze them properly.

This job really sucked my time, but I had to do it because no one else had the authority to check these classified documents in the office.

All of it was connected to the judicial files about the proposed bills for the agricultural and agrarian reforms. There was also a bill for the conversion of farm fields into commercial land.

I placed a hand on my forehead and sighed.

'Man, I'm tired of doing the same thing over and over again. I want to toil but there is something I want to do like playing physical games like a normal kid. I'm still a child, you know.'

I picked up a snack in my drawer and opened it.

I chewed a single chip and swallowed the next one with one bite.

'Hmm, yummy,' I simpered.

I rubbed my tummy for a while and checked the computer next.

'Man, I wish someone will develop youtube on this planet. Wait, should I establish it by myself?' I asked myself.

I scratched my hair and realized my stupidity. I should already do that in the first place.

My citizens only knew the television of my Earth News, one of my mainstream media here.

I named it after my former world because this blue planet reminded me of the past.

My lips curved like a crescent moon with a beaming face.

"Brilliant, I have to write it down for my next project. Since I introduced the internet to my people, I'm very sure they will like it. With this great idea, I'm not only squeezing some information, but also I can watch news through youtube!" I made guts pose.

Internet was really the best thing ever!

'Hmm, Francis is so late. It's already quarter to nine but he is still not coming here to report what he watched on television,' I growled.

I folded my arms across my chest and leaned my head on the headrest of my chair.

'Man, this is too boring. I wish for an unexpected event that could entertain me at least. I, I want some action. My goodness, I want a thrilling event for this year!'

Why do I wish for it to happen? Simple, because I wanted to release my stress from overwork.

But, but my beloved courier won't give me this chance. She promised me a normal and quiet life, so I had to endure this.

She's really protecting me from the very start, and she guaranteed my safety wherever I went to.

I still failed to experience a coup, a revolt, and even an assassination attempt by my enemies.

It's because of her generous blessing and guidance.

I sulked upon thinking about it.

'Man, I wish her health won't get affected because of me. I pray she still looking for her body whilst looking after me. Crap, I hope she doesn't overdo her job as my guardian.'

I closed my hands together and closed my eyes. I concentrated my mind to establish a strong connection with her, which I strongly believed the courier will hear through this.

My gratitude was still not enough to repay my debt, but praying for her was the only way for me to show my unquestionable loyalty, strong affection, and love towards her.

I knew all along that this kind of trait was dangerous.

Why do you think? Because she would feel disgusted when she realized I started to become a loyal supporter, unlike my seniors who were the first transmigrated into different dimensions.

I had to stay faithful. These actions won't ever disappear.

She's a gift of the true God Almighty! A guardian angel dressed up with seductive and trending clothes of my former world.

'Call me a simp, a pimp, or worse than those two cursed nicknames, but I don't care about the opinions of the other people. I already made my decision to stay true to my creed. Love the Courier as my own guardian and protector!'

My eyes twinkled like a star on the night as I declared it.

Suddenly, someone knocked on the door.

Finally, he's here.

I quickly fixed my hair and sit properly. I wanted to show how manly I was.

"I'm tired of waiting for you. Come in," I gave an order. "T, thank you, Lord Hadar," a feminine voice caught me by surprise.

'I, it's not Francis. Who the heck is this person now?' I asked myself.

A beautiful maid opened the door. Then, she hesitated a bit before she entered.

Her maid outfit showed off her curves like a doll and her attractive looks increased her feminine beauty. The lime hair was pinned with her white hairband and her downturned golden eyes showed her shyness a little bit.

She's looked nervous and afraid to say something, but she took the courage to show up.

When I thought about it, I strongly believed that Francis personally ordered her to act as his substitute.

This girl looked like a petty girl on the street, though.

Man, I feel bad for her. Her whole body kept trembling whenever I focused my attention on her.

Her fingers fidgeted a lot.

"Hmm, I was expecting someone else. What brings you here?" I asked bluntly.

'And, who the fuck are you?'

The maid placed a hand on her chest and took a breath. Then, she exhaled a small sigh.

"M, milord, forgive me. Sir Francis won't be seeing you today. He has something to do. I come here to act as his substitute to report the subject matter related to his mission," she said, overcoming her fear towards me.

I rested my chin on my closed arms and locked my eyes at her face directly.

She flinched after she sensed a sinister aura coming through my eyes.

"Then, what is it? Make it short, okay. I don't like a long speech or dialogue. I want a complete and clear report about the news today," I commanded.

She coughed once and fixed herself before she spoke.

'Good, bad news or any kind of catastrophe should be enough to entertain me. Go for it, say it. I want an incredible event to set my course from this job. Give me a reason to turn my attention to that topic. C'mon, say it. I'm tired of waiting for an unfortunate event. I want action. Action!'

"Lord Hadar, the, the thing is..."

She's hesitant to say it because it was a piece of bad news.

'I knew it. It's something big!'

"There is, there is a storm coming from the pacific according to the news forecast. Also, the media shows all of the incredible places to visit here in the capital. There is a new trend of food strolls in the next district. Then, the next channel shows the new series of the Game of Brawls Season 2 this coming evening. And, the new show about your life is about ― ouch," she spluttered and bit her lips. "I, I'm sorry," she bent her upper body down respectfully.

Thereupon, my arms collapsed like a falling bridge. My shoulders dropped down and my expectations perished like the melting ice left on the open field.

"I, is there something or anything bad happen other than the storm?" I inquired.

"Umm," she tilted her head on the side and hit her head lightly. "None, nothing, milord."

I dived my face on my hands and slipped it down.

'I, I'm really stuck with nothing. Nothing. Goddamn it, I want an intense fight or anything else to me show up my villainy!' I slammed a hand on the table.

The maid flinched in surprise.

"L, Lord Hadar, are you alright?" she asked, worryingly.

'Damn it, the courier is really a virtuous deity. If she keeps hindering my plan, I cannot help but to give up,' I sighed.

"I'm fine. You can go now. You served your purpose," I waved my hand to shoo her.

"Y, you don't look fine. I cannot leave you like this. Allow me to accompany you," she pleaded.

"As I said before, I'm fine. You can go now. Close the door properly, okay. You left it open when you enter," I pointed out the doorknob.

"I, I'm sorry, milord. I will never disappoint you again. Please excuse me," the maid cried as she exited herself.

I stood up from my chair and walked next to the window.

I opened it and the cold wind from the east entered.

Then, I gulped some air and exhaled all of it at once.

"I, is this a dream? This is not what I ever wanted. I want to become the villain of this planet. The man who devours the weak and stomps the victims of my tyranny. But why do I have to live like this? This is not what I signed up for!" I cried and knelt down on the floor with a hopeless face.

'I'm not the main character of any story. This is not about a man who wishes for a normal life. This is the man of action. I ain't a dense mob for nothing, you know. But, but still, my wish doesn't always come true because my beloved courier always brings me a joyous life like I never experienced before,' I raised up my head and looked at the sky through the window.

"Damn it, there is really a storm coming," I covered my eyes, lips pursed.
