Tvaylin looked at the massive wall with many ledges, crevasse, and large openings that led into well lit areas beyond, he could see the glows of dragon fire and the sheer amount of dragons amazed him. He must have seen thousands since he spotted the massive cliff rising above the land.
He stared in awe when Azephail put him down, he was set down in what looked like a giant ring that was easily 800ft across with what looked like caves spread evenly around the perimeter and the place could easily house hundreds of wyrmlings. The entrances were on the smaller side and couldn't fit someone as big as Azephail.
Tvaylin looked left and right and he saw other wyrmlings of different colours, he saw bronze, iron, gold, brass, steel, mercury, copper and even a few other silver wyrmlings.
None of the other wyrmlings had grown their wings yet and were all relatively young, only a few golden wyrmlings were much larger and a few months older than him judging by size, but still young enough to be in this batch of trainees.
Tvaylin looked up at Azephail who was poking his humongous head down to see him also and asked "why am I here?".
Azephail chuckled before replying, "you are here to train with the other nest champions we have managed to… recruit.
You and the other champions will train, eat, sleep and fight together, you will grow and learn to fight each other before learning to fight together as a unit. We are at war with our cousins the colour dragons who have betrayed their race and have sided with the humans and elves to push us out of the rest of the world except for here in Labriria," at Tvaylin's confused look he explained that Labriria was the continent that they were currently on and it held the last of the metallic dragons, they had been pushed from the other 4 land masses entirely.
The small history lesson only distracted Tvaylin for a few moments before one of the big gold wyrmling's was fighting a small silver wyrmling and had the poor sod pinned to the ground with one claw as he was biting the back of the smaller silver's neck.
The mewling of pain is what distracted Tvaylin, he swung his head around and the cry of pain triggered something in him forcing him to sprint across the ground and with fore-claws extended he jumped and latched into the back of the larger gold digging in with his over powered limbs he held on as the gold went wild in pain and tried to grab Tvaylin off its back lifting its claw off the pinned silver wyrmling to let it escape its torment.
Tvaylin felt the gold shift it's body and saw it reach for him, Tvaylin bit down hard on the shoulder in instinct immobilizing that arm as he shoved his body weight to that side trying to force the gold to fall over.
Azephail watched In stunned silence as he saw Tvaylin savage the gold wyrmling's back with his hind legs as he held on with his claws while biting the shoulder, even his tail was intertwined with the base of the gold wyrmling to give himself balance.
He had never seen such a young wyrmling using all of his appendages to fight in coordination on a instinctual level before. He reached down and grabbed the angry silverling before he could do irreparable damage to the larger wyrmling, it took some convincing and pulling to separate Tvaylin from his prey, all the while the gold wyrmling was howling in pain as Tvaylin refused to let go.
"ENOUGH TVAYLIN!" Azephail roared as Tvaylin let go of the gold. "You have done enough! You got the silver free, why did you keep fighting? She let the wyrmling go!"
Tvaylin looked at Azephail with his back raised in defiance, "I WAS WINNING!" He roared angrily at the large dragon.
Azephail looked in shock at the little ball of anger in his paw, " you were trying to win? Not save your fellow silver?" He asked.
Tvaylin looked up still at him still angry but no longer screeching at him, "Isn't that why im here, don't you WANT me to win or give up!!" He said.
Azephail growled back at the insolent little ball of anger trying to intimidate him into obedience, "Yes I want you too win and become strong, but not just you! All of these wyrmling's are going to be your battle brothers and sisters, you were aiming to maim not just win!"
Tvaylin was too young to know the difference he realized as Tvaylin stared up at him before snorting in displeasure as he muttered under his breath "what's the difference?"
Azephail looked conflicted as he put Tvaylin down away from the goldling near an entrance in the side of the area, he was tired of talking to a literal baby and decided to force the silver into the cave before moving a stone slab to cover the entrance, he knew that the silver would get into much more trouble if he was aloud to roam before learning the rules of the training area.
Tvaylin watched the stone slab block the entry way into the small cave, it wasn't pitch black as a glowing moss grew on one side of the roof at the back of the cave providing some illumination, he could smell wyrmling everywhere as he explored his new little world but he stopped in his tracks when he caught the smell of food! He followed his nose to a fresh dead deer carcass on one side. He forgot his anger as he started to fill his gullet and soon he was dozing fitfully on what was left of his meal like he did back in his own cave. He was waiting for the slab to be moved and for him to be able to fight once again, it had felt good to savage the other wyrmling that was picking on a smaller dragon, if he learnt anything from his dreams it was that he hated watching big dragons fight smaller dragons, it almost always ended poorly for the smaller dragon's in his dreams.
Tvaylin drifted off into sleep as his dreams took him once again into his dreamscape.
