Tvaylin woke from his sleep once again to the sound of food hitting the ground by him. He walked over and ate all the best parts before he headed to the door that was opened once again without even bothering to clean himself once again.
He walked out covered in blood but with only small pieces of flesh hanging off him this time. Once again he walked out to the matriarch who was lifting the doors off the other caves and waited patiently for her to finish and let him spar once again.
The matriarch quickly finished her work and had the wyrmling's spar once again, Gretz didn't challenge tvaylin nor could he even look into tvaylins's eyes.
He finally had a challenger approaching him this time it was a steel wyrmling. He got into the ring followed shortly by the slightly bigger steel wyrmling after the necessary rule explaining the matriarch let the spars begin.
Tvaylin watched the steel dragon stare at him with a curious cock of his head as he waited for tvaylin to attack.
The steel wyrmling crouched low as tvaylin got close making it much harder for tvaylin to get in his guard, he just made a toothy grin at the caution the steel wyrmling showed.
The steel wyrmling waited till tvaylin was in pouncing range before jumping at him.
Tvaylin jumped back and just barely managed to dodge the steel claws flashing just before his face. He jumped up as soon as he got his feet under him as the steel dragon pounced forward once again but this time tvaylin jumped over the pounce and landed on the steel's back.
The steel wyrmling didn't want to be savaged by tvaylin's sharp claws so he rolled over as fast as he could almost like a crocodile he had once seen eating. He didn't stop rolling until tvaylin let go from being mashed into the floor by his heavier body.
Tvaylin let go of the steel wyrmling after a few rolls. It was a simple but very effective move, he had been swung into the hard stone multiple times before letting go as he did it want to get stunned or suffer an injury for stubbornly hanging on.
Letting go of the steel wyrmling and he hit the ground and got to his feet as quick as he could, he jumped up and tried to get at the just recovering wyrmling and managed to clamp his jaws on the back of the steel wyrmling's neck and just like instinct he twisted it back and to the side in one sharp movement.
A loud "Crackkkk" was heard and the steel wyrmling went still, he had instantly died with a broken neck.
Tvaylin let the neck go and was about to let out a triumphant roar when the matriarch stormed over and picked him up.
"YOU FUCKING WYRMLING NEVER LISTEN! WE NEED EVERY SINGLE ON OF YOU! But NOOOO. You just had to kill your sparing partner!" The matriarch roared at tvaylin as she held him in front of her giant jaws trying to scare some civility into this little walking disaster!
Only a couple days in and he had killed one of his spar mates. It was going to be impossible to train this cretin when everyone else was to scared to spar with him. If it wasn't for the war she would have crushed this wyrmling in her claws but she visably took a breath and put tvaylin in his cave.
"You will stay in there till I decide what to do with you! Murder is unacceptable even if it was instinctual! You need to control your body and your emotions! Do not become ruled by them!" The matriarch said before slamming the rock in the door way.
She had a lot of explaining to do to her superiors, a nest champion had died under her watch DURING a sparing session. If a wyrmling died in its cave or in when out they were not training it wouldn't be a big deal but this happened so fast she only caught the movement from the corner of her eye and couldn't stop the tvaylin in time.
The nest that the steel wyrmling was from was a minor Noble at best, the repercussions of this incident wouldn't be too great but it was still a hassle.
Normally a sum of gold and silver would be paid out for the death of a wyrmling in the training grounds as it would be the same this time. The nest of the dead wyrmling would probably demand an apology from the royal gold family as this happened when the wyrmling was in their care but that's all that would be done about it.
The matriarch had to decide what to do with tvaylin, it was proven time and time again that he was almost half feral, he didn't have any regard for killing his own allies even if it was in a fight.
These qualities were hard to get rid of in a wyrmling but it wasn't impossible, now she just had to decide if it was worth it to train it out of him or to nuture his brutality. In the war their were many places where it was necessary to have a brutal and remorseless fighter on their side but only if they could be trusted to not needlessly murder allies.
The matriarch pondered on this while she picked up the dead nest campion and walked through a large opening in the face of the rock wall.
Tvaylin remember the feeling of snapping the steel wyrmling's neck and the weight of the dead body as it hung limply for a second from his jaws. It felt powerful and he could feel some sort of energy rush into him as he stood triumphant on the dead wyrmling. It was a wonderful and at the same time electrifying.
It was unlike anything he had felt before, and he wanted to feel it again…..
