Chapter 3 - Incident Log 4545-Alpha-Nine

Date: ██/██/████

Involved SCPs: SCP-4545, SCP-106

Location: Site-██, Containment Sector Gamma

Description: At approximately 03:17 hours, a significant containment breach of SCP-106 was detected within Containment Sector Gamma. Standard lockdown procedures were initiated. SCP-106's anomalous traversal of solid matter led it directly into the containment chamber of SCP-4545 (Chamber 4545-A).

Remote observation systems recorded the immediate reaction of SCP-4545. Upon the manifestation of SCP-106 within its chamber, SCP-4545 ceased its typical cyclical movements and focused its energy towards the point of entry. Intense pulses of superheated plasma were directed at SCP-106, which appeared to have minimal effect, passing through SCP-106's semi-corporeal form without significant dissipation.

SCP-106, seemingly unfazed by the extreme temperatures, began its characteristic "corrosion" effect on the Alloy-4545-Alpha floor where it manifested. This prompted a significant shift in SCP-4545's behavior. Vocalizations, notably louder and more frantic than previously recorded, emanated from the entity. The spacetime distortions within SCP-4545's immediate radius intensified, becoming visually apparent as localized shimmering and brief, erratic shifts in perspective within the observation feeds.

SCP-4545 then directed a concentrated beam of plasma at SCP-106. While the direct thermal effect remained negligible, the surrounding air violently superheated, causing rapid expansion and concussive force that visibly buffeted SCP-106. SCP-106 responded by attempting to touch SCP-4545. As its hand-like appendage approached SCP-4545's fiery form, the plasma around the point of contact visibly flickered and diminished momentarily, as if being consumed or suppressed. However, SCP-106 recoiled, emitting a low, guttural moan, an uncommon vocalization for the entity. Analysis of sensor data suggests SCP-106 experienced a significant thermal shock despite its anomalous properties.

The interaction escalated rapidly. SCP-4545 began manipulating its form, creating rapidly shifting tendrils of plasma that lashed out at SCP-106. SCP-106, while evading the direct hits, was forced into a more defensive posture, its movements becoming less deliberate. The corrosive effect on the chamber floor continued, but at a slower rate, as if SCP-106 was diverting some of its energy to resist the extreme heat.

At approximately 03:20 hours, SCP-4545 emitted a sustained, high-frequency burst of energy. Observation equipment within Chamber 4545-A experienced temporary malfunctions, with visual feeds displaying heavy distortion and sensor readings becoming erratic. Upon restoration of functionality, SCP-106 was no longer visible within the chamber. It is presumed to have retreated to its pocket dimension.

Following the incident, Containment Chamber 4545-A sustained significant damage. While the Alloy-4545-Alpha exhibited remarkable resistance, localized areas showed signs of melting and significant structural stress. Furthermore, the spacetime distortions within the chamber persisted at a heightened level for approximately 47 minutes after the encounter, causing minor calibration errors in on-site chronometers.

SCP-4545 exhibited a period of increased activity and vocalization for several hours following the incident, with linguistic analysis suggesting expressions of agitation and what could be interpreted as territorial defense.

Addendum 4545-Alpha-Nine-A: Post-Incident Analysis:

The interaction between SCP-4545 and SCP-106 provides valuable insights into the nature and capabilities of both entities. SCP-4545's inability to directly harm SCP-106 through thermal means highlights the latter's unique anomalous properties. Conversely, SCP-106's apparent discomfort and eventual retreat suggest that SCP-4545's extreme heat and potentially its manipulation of spacetime present a significant, albeit indirect, threat.

The incident also reinforces the hypothesis that SCP-4545 possesses a level of intelligence and reactive capability exceeding initial assessments. Its shift in tactics, from direct thermal attacks to utilizing concussive force and potentially spacetime manipulation, demonstrates an ability to adapt to unforeseen circumstances.

The lingering spacetime distortions within Chamber 4545-A are of particular concern and are under intensive investigation. The potential for SCP-4545 to intentionally manipulate spacetime for offensive or defensive purposes necessitates a reassessment of its containment protocols.

O5 Council Directive 4545-Delta

Date: ██/██/████

Subject: Incident 4545-Alpha-Nine: Interaction between SCP-4545 and SCP-106

Council Members Present: O5-1, O5-3, O5-4, O5-7, O5-9, O5-11, O5-12

Directive:

While the immediate containment breach of SCP-106 was successfully addressed, the interaction between these two Keter-class anomalies has revealed unforeseen capabilities within SCP-4545, specifically concerning its potential manipulation of spacetime.

The following directives are to be implemented with immediate effect:

Task Force Rho-Sigma ("Chrono Keepers") is to be integrated into the SCP-4545 containment detail. Their expertise in temporal and spatial anomalies is deemed crucial for monitoring and mitigating potential spacetime manipulations by SCP-4545. Revised containment procedures are to incorporate redundant spacetime monitoring equipment and failsafe measures to counteract localized temporal distortions.

In the event of a future containment breach involving SCP-4545, or any indication of intentional large-scale spacetime manipulation, Contingency Protocol Omega-7 ("Broken Arrow") is to be reviewed and updated to specifically address this threat. The potential for XK-class "End-of-the-World" scenarios stemming from uncontrolled temporal or spatial anomalies must be acknowledged and prepared for.

The interaction between SCP-4545 and SCP-106 serves as a stark reminder of the inherent dangers in containing entities whose fundamental nature remains largely unknown. Complacency cannot be tolerated. The Foundation must adapt and evolve its understanding and protocols to effectively manage the ever-present threat posed by these anomalies. The lingering temporal distortions within Chamber 4545-A serve as a physical manifestation of the unpredictable and potentially catastrophic consequences of our work.
