' I need everything to work according to plan. There should be no mistake '. Dr Neil motioned his finger at Dr Jason for emphasis.
' Yes sir, there will be no mistake of any sort '. He assured Dr Neil and adjusted his glasses with his left forefinger.
Dr Jason, the world's best neurosurgeon and scientist have not only proven that he was the best in his field with his numerous successful operations, he has also proved his ability of being the world's greatest scientist by his creation of LILA. A female robot that looked, act and perceive like humans.
The robot could feel pain, control her feelings, love, hate, be angry, could do everything that humans could do except that it could not get pregnant or be sexually aroused, but it could be used as a sex doll for hospital or personal use.
His creation astounded Neil who had the Dr. attached to his name as an accredited Ph.d holder. He quickly called Dr Jason and contracted him for a multi billion dollar project. And of course failure to agree with the contract will not just make Jason to lose billions of dollars, it will also raze his career to the ground because just one call from Dr Neil to the media would attract insurmountable hatred and aversions from all angles to his direction. He was not ready to risk that.
' You know what will happen if it does not work, right? '. Dr Neil casually spoke but it was more like a threat to Dr Jason.
' Yes sir. I am not going to risk that '.
' Very good then. The remaining ten billion dollars will transferred to your account once you're done '. With that he left the corridor and then the building.
The money was huge but it was incomparable with the money that would be generated from his project once it lands on the earth surface.
Dr Jason stood there and watched the back of Dr Neil as he left the building. He sighed and opened the door of his lair to see his team of two doctors, two nurses and two scientists fixating their eyes on the vital signs monitor, reading every vital sign and noting every change in number. He shook his head and entered the room.
Who would have thought that he would one day change his secret lair into a theater? All because of the project.
' Sir, we are losing her '. The worried voice of one of the doctors echoed in the room amidst the non-stop beeping sounds of the vital signs monitor.
Dr Jason rushed to the table to see the chest of a lady rising and falling continuously.
' Stat! '. He yelled and one of the nurses ran to his side with a manual external defibrillator and placed it on the table.
Connecting the paddles cable to the device and applying the paddles to her chest, one above the right nipple and the other below the left breast area, he set the nob to 150 and pressed the charge button on the paddle.
Seeing the orange button on the paddles flash and her contact indicator light turn green, everyone moved away the table, avoiding any form of contact with the patient or any thing connected to the patient.
' Charging....one fifty....clear'.
' Boom '. Her body rose and fell back to the table and immediate CPR was conducted on her by the second doctor, but it did not work.
Fear was written on the faces of everyone in the room.
' Charging....one seventy... clear'. Another defibrillation then CPR, but nothing happened.
' Flatline, sir '. That word made him to tremble. She can't die, his career was at stake .Her death would bring the downfall of his career. She was the project.
He clasped his fingers together and with his left hand on top of his right he started the CPR procedure.
The steady sound of the monitor made everyone to stare blankly at the flateline indicated on it. She was dead but he was still trying to resuscitate her.
He stopped when he heard no response from. Taking a few steps backwards, he turned and looked at the monitor that gave zeros for all the vital signs. Zero indicated no life.
' Initiate the chip '. He ordered still looking at the monitor.
They all widened their eyes at the order. Did he just say that?.
' Sir? '. One of the scientist asked. Maybe they did not hear him correctly.
' I said initiate the chip '. This time around he turned and looked at the scientist as he gave the order.
He stood there not taking a step. ' Sir but you know that....'.
' I said INITIATE THE CHIP '. He was flabbergasted by the scientist's hesitance.
The scientist turned to look at everyone with a look that said they were his witness and walked to a gigantic machine which had four of it's cables attached to the head of the lady. Placing his hand on the lever, he heaved a sigh and turned to everyone again. They too were sacred like him but they could do nothing.
He took a deep breath and held the head of the lever tightly as he counted one to five in his mind. On the fifth time he pulled the lever down with great force and an electrifying sound of the lever filled the room. Everyone shifted their eyes from the machine to the body.
If she was alive, she would have shaken violently on the table, but because her heart was not beating, nothing happened.
They all wore a worried look as the gazed over her, except from Dr Jason that arrayed his face with an apathetic look.
They were not worried because she would not moved a finger, infact they knew that nothing would happen to her, he was just trying another way to resurrect her. They were worried because the body of the niece of the richest man in their country would be cremated before he even sees it. Since her heart was not beating, the chip could not do anything to scansion it and since it could not scansion it, it will divert all the electricity to her body which will of course burn it to ashes, they were familiar with this.
They were also familiar with the fact that Dr Neil took his niece to Dr Jason to save her, when she was involved in a automobile accident about three months ago that claimed a large number of her brain cells. They had seen the chip and had thought that it was Dr Jason that created it to save her.
The chip, they thought, was to replace the brain cells, unbeknownst to them that it was actually given to Dr Jason by Dr Neil to implant it in his niece's brain, did he care about her? No! he never really cared about her, he just wanted to know if the chip was compatible with a human brain.
Dr Jason relaxed his shoulders and sighed as nothing happened to her. He knew that it was not a good idea, he only hoped that the chip could restore her heart beats. He motioned at the scientist to turn the machine off as he gestured the rest to follow him out.
As he was about to pull the lever up again the non-stop beeping sounds of the monitor echoed in the room again. He paused and abruptly turned only to see the rest racing to the table with Dr Jason getting there first.
Immediately Dr Jason reached the table he quickly placed the paddles where he had placed them again and nodded at the first doctor. He on receiving the unsaid order, turned the nob to two hundred.
' Charging...two hundred..... clear! '.
' Boom '. He chest rose and fell back against the table. With that the non-stop beeping sounds of the monitor ameliorated into seconds beeping sounds.
' Yes! '. They all screamed in excitement at they heard the lady's heart beating rhythmically.
Dr Jason was all smiles as he saw her breathing steady and heard the beeping sounds of the monitor. He turned to the monitor feeling proud of himself. He did it!.
So not only would the chip replace the dead cells, it will also give life to her heart which of course will give life to her body, when needed.
Then one of the nurses, the one that carried the defibrillator to be exact, ran to Dr Jason and locked his lips with hers on her arrival.
Everyone was slack-jawed as they saw the preposterous move of the nurse but they immediately closed their mouths when they saw Dr Jason holding her firmly and yielding to the kiss without pulling out of it. They were also surprised when they saw the wedding ring and engagement ring on her finger. She was his wife, how were they even able to hide their marital status from the rest of his team members?.
He was popular and everyone have seen his wife with him on numerous occasions, but there she was in their midst and yet no one recognized her. What a mystery!.
By the time Dr Jason pulled away from the kiss she was breathing heavily, she then blushed when she saw everyone looking at them.
At the same time they first doctor walked gracefully to the second nurse and nudged her.
' What? '. She asked casually.
' You want that too? '. He asked as he raised his brow salaciously.
She eyed him, hissed loudly and walked out on him, swinging her hips. Everyone laughed out loud as they saw him dumbfounded looking at her back as she walked. He too joined in the laugh to mask the pain of rejection. She too joined and they all laughed to their fullest.
The laughter did not laugh for long because the lady started shaking violently on the table. Everyone turned to the machine to see the lever still down but Dr Jason stood few steps away from her, looking at her.
' Stop. Her brain will collapse '. He was just about to hold the lever when the order came. And just like that he retracted his hand and turned to look at Dr Jason in confusion with the others
' Sir but the energy level is increasing '. He retorted as he pointed at the machine. They all including Dr Jason looked at the energy level increasing rapidly.
The more the electricity generated, the more the energy level increased and the more she shook tremendously.
They were affrighted as they turned back to Dr Jason, hoping he would change his mind. The machine would blow up at any moment if the lever is not pulled down to end the initiation of the chip.
His wife looked at him and him at her. She could see the confusion in his eyes.
If they turn off the machine now, her brain would collapse because the flow of electricity stopped. If they leave it on not only will the machine blow, the brain too would collapse because the flow of electricity would be too much for her brain to bear. Either way her brain would collapse.
He shifted his eyes from her eyes to her breasts, thinking, not that type of thinking though but he was thinking.
He could not also go and open the lady's head to remove the chip. If he tried that he would be electrocuted, leaving his young wife alone in this world.
She moved to hug him pressing her breasts hard against his chest, when she saw him looking at her breasts. Strangely, that gave him comfort.
In the past when she saw him hopeless like he was now, she would hug him tightly, pressing her breasts against his chest. He would relax and afterwards come up with a valuable suggestion.
But little did she know that it was the scent of her hair that made him relax to think. So her breasts gave him comfort but her hair made him relax to think.
They were all agitated when they saw Dr Jason hugging his wife. Of all times why was it now he chose to hug his wife? They already understood that he loved his wife, there was no need to emphasize it.
' Sir, the energy level is increasing enormously '. The second scientist shouted on top of his lungs to get Dr Jason's attention.
He pulled out from the hug to look at the lady. Taking few steps to her, he bent down to assess her state.
' Turn it off '. He ordered. The first scientist did not hesitate to push the lever up. That very moment the flow of electricity stopped and silence engulfed the room. Only the beeping sounds of the machine were heard.
They circled her to see a blue light glowing inside her head but it was disappearing gradually. They looked intently at her for any response. She had shaken violently, so what was next?
Her eyelids rolled up to reveal her blue pupils. But they were not still satisfied because at that moment they scrutinizied her. She was bewildered as she travelled her eyes from Dr Jason to the second scientist opposite him. She then opened her mouth to ask.
' Where am I? '.
