Dr Jason and his wife fixated their gazes on the lady as she ate her food hurriedly, it was like she was starved for years. Well one month would certainly be like millenniums for a person who had not gotten anything down her throat.
She was about eating the nth spoon when she saw their pity-filled eyes. She closed the doors of her mouth and dropped the spoon on the plate. Taking a wipe in her hands, she started cleaning them.
' You know I don't really know how long I stayed on that table, but even without that knowledge I would still regard staring at someone as an invasion into one's privacy. Don't you two have other important things to do rather than sitting there, watching me like I am an interesting movie '. She asked and dropped the wipe on the table to look at them.
Dr Jason was taken aback by her question, but instead of being annoyed at her rude and obnoxious behavior, he was happy and strangely satisfied.
She could talk, that was a good sign. He was desperately looking for another sign of improvement after she opened her eyes and sat on the dining table to eat. That was why he asked his wife to join him as he watched her.
But she on her side was rather angry at the way the girl in their front questioned them. They saved her, shouldn't she be grateful?
She wanted to rebuke her but decided to swallow her words. This girl was not just a nobody. The niece of a multibillionaire who had companies in four continents of the globe was not a nobody. Rebuking her was just like asking for a death sentence. In addition to that, her husband's name and fame would be risked.
' How do you feel now? Like your head, your heart, your brain? '. Dr Jason threw a question to her that sounded like a concern of something else not her.
The lady rose her brow at the question, then she relaxed it, crossed her legs and use right fore finger to wound round the mouth of her drinking glass.
' Why do I feel like you are more concerned about something else than.... me? '. She held the glass to her lips to drink it's content as she looked at them suspiciously.
He gulped his spit at her question and looked at his wife out of impulse. She too looked at him with a pair of widened eyes. Both unaware of the fact that the questioner was jotting every of their reactions in her head.
If she was to solve the puzzle, she would have to get the complete pieces, she had only three pieces with her and it was certainly not enough.
First piece, the way the people looked at her when she opened her eyes like they were expecting another thing other than her opened eyes. Doctors would be exhilarated when they see you open your eyes, it was a sign that you have recovered, but they were expectant of something else.
Second piece, that gigantic machine she saw at a corner of the room. It was certainly not a defibrillator or an oxygene concentrator because she saw those by her side, then what was it? When she tried to get up from the table, she saw four cables connected to her head and when she traced them they came from the machine. What was that machine and why were it's cables connected to her head? She have to find out.
Third piece, their reactions at her question. He was like ' did she just see through me? ' and she was like ' how did she know? '. Something is up and she needs to find out without asking these two. They were in the medical field and being professionals, they were fated to not tell her.
Miss Jason excused herself when she smelt the food burning in the kitchen. The food burnt right on time.
Dr Jason looked helplessly at the direction his wife just left. She left him alone to face the girl and fix the mess.
Knowing her, she was sure to not come back for fear of getting caught up in his problem. Well, good thing because he too won't like her to be caught up in his problem. He had only called her to observe for other reactions, she have to retire for the day. Now he have to face the girl and may exclude fixing the mess, that would be the job of her uncle.
' I am just concerned. If you are not in good shape and proper state of mind, your uncle might ask me to take you back to the theater. I need you to be more than okay before leaving this building '.
Was that the truth? No!. Was that a lie? No!. Yes he was concerned about her but mostly about if the chip would not hurt her in the future. Her uncle asking him to take her back to the theater, also was not a lie, because it was bound to happen in the future but it would not be for her, it will be for the chip. It means they have to take the chip out of her head and work on it for better results.
Uncle?. The lady dropped at her glass at the sound of that. Which uncle? She did not have an uncle nor did she have parents, she was all alone in this world. She grimaced and took her spoon to continue eating.
' I have no uncle '. She blurted and opened her mouth to accept the food.
Dr Jason was shocked when he heard her. Did she just disown her uncle?. Everybody knew her because she was always seen with her uncle in conferences and other occasions, she was like his right hand. But here she was repudiating the fact that she had an uncle.
' You have an uncle and he was the one who brought you here '. Dr Jason retorted as he swiped out Dr Neil's message that appeared on his phone screen. She should not see the message.
' I said I have no uncle. My parents are dead and I was abandoned in this world to suffer my fate '. She shouted back in vexation.
Dr Jason scrutinizied her as he heard her reply. Was she just disowning her uncle or does she now have amnesia?. Could that be the reason?.
' You don't have an uncle, what do you mean?. You were always spotted with your uncle on countless occasions. Your uncle brought you when you were found unconscious and bruised on your head in your car after getting involved in a car accident. Why are you denying him now? '. He looked intently at her for a reaction. If she was denying him, he would know. If she had amnesia, he would know too. He just needed to see how she would react to his question and that's all.
She sat puzzled when she absorbed his reply. Which uncle?. She did not have an uncle, why was he emphasizing on that?. Her parents never told her of any relative apart from her maternal grandmother who was dead before she was even born. Why is this man so sure? He even said she was spotted with this uncle of hers on numerous occasions, what is he saying?. She had no uncle.
Dr Jason saw the confusion on her face and immediately understood what was the problem, she had amnesia. But could it be as a result of the brain damaged cells? The chip had replaced the cells, right?. Or was it because of her violent shaking?. How was he now going to explain to her uncle that she have amnesia, all because of the chip?. No, it can't be possible.
He took a deep breath, stood up and walked towards her. Seated on the seat by her side, he sighed and turned to her.
' You don't remember him now because you have amnesia due to your head injury which was as a result of the accident, but you need to trust me on this. I will show some pictures of him tomorrow and trust me together both of us will get your memory back '. He said as he held her hands to convey his concern, but she withdrew them the moment he held them.
' If I have amnesia, you should be looking for a way now to cure it rather than coming to me with consoles. Find a way to solve it '. She hostilely replied and adjusted herself on her seat.
' Is not as easy as you think, it might take months or even years to get your memory back '.
' And so? You know, I have actually suffered more depressing and aggressive illnesses when I was younger. This, whatever you call it is more like a petty thing that could be solved without much stress. It's not even like I am disabled or deformed by this....stuff. Just cure it discreetly and let.me.know.when.you.are.done, ok? '. She said and got up from her seat with shrugged shoulders and turned to the direction of the stairs which led to the rooms upstairs. Glancing behind her shoulders, she spoke with a British tone.
' I learnt your wife prepared a room for me, off I will go to that room, but I wait for feedback in few days. If you can't cure it then you can recommend me to better doctors '. She said and left the sitting room with the stairs.
Doctor Jason stared in the direction she just left. Was she expecting him to cure her amnesia on his own without her cooperation. The Neils really had a high percentage of pride in their blood.
He sighed and entered his study which was situated at the left hand side of the room. That twenty- three year old which was his project while asleep was now his problem while awake. He fell to his seat and landed in dreamland the moment his back touched the backrest.

' How authentic is what you are saying? '. Dr Neil asked as he answered his phone call, leaving the dining room where the rest of his family members were having dinner.
[ I saw it for myself sir. She was talking with Dr Jason ]. The caller who stood outside Dr Jason's mansion looking at his study which was lightened up through the window, answered Dr Neil.
Dr Neil stood in the backyard looking at the garden with a beamed up face. So it worked? The chip worked on her. Very interesting.
' I've heard you. Stand in your position till you get my order '. Dr Neil replied and cut the call without waiting for a response from the other end.
This was indeed the best news he had received today. He had to celebrate, celebrate this news. He strode back to the dining room. No need to waste time.
Everyone looked at him, astonished at his change of expression. One moment he was moody, the next moment he is all smiles.
' Let me guess, that bastard have finally woken up '. His first daughter in her early twenties guessed right when she saw her father smiling from chin to chin. That ' once in a blue moon ' smile. But that smile suddenly disappeared when he heard what she said. Before he could say anything his wife intervened.
' Rosella keep quiet! Is your cousin you are talking about here and not a nobody '. That appeased him at that moment. She opened her mouth to object, but when she saw her mother's eyes signs, she immediately understood that it was not a reprimand, but a rescue from her father's wrath.
' Yes she is awake and she is not a bastard because she got me as her father, she is your eldest cousin and she have a name '. Her father rebuke her.
' Yeah, a name that sounds like trouble '. His seventeen year old daughter, Mina said stressing the ' trouble '.
' ALINA '. Rosella and Mina chorused and gave off a sound of disgust ' Ugh! '.
