Three years earlier

Everyone has there great tale about how they became a superhero. You either get bit by a radio active spider or are a trained assassin growing up.

But my story was a bit different than that. It was my thirteenth birthday and my dad had gotten me a taser to take with me when I walk to school. One morning I was getting ready for school and I got curious and wanted to know what a taser felt like. (I know, how stupid)

I grabbed the black taser off my dresser and pressed the on button. A low buzz sounded and the crackling of electricity filled my room. A white light flickered on and off at the tips of the metal piece.

I put my finger up to touch it when it sent a shock threw me and I collapsed onto the ground. I fell onto an outlet and knocked a cord loose. A second shock was sent threw me by the outlet but it was to much for my body to handle.

The smell of burnt flesh filled my nose and my eyes slowly closed. I was rushed to the hospital and declared legally dead. Ten minutes later an electric pulse shot through me and restarted my heart. I jolted awake to find no one in the room. The heart monitor beside me slowly started beeping again in sync with my heart beat. That's when everything changed.

Ever since that day, unexplainable things started happening. I learned I could control and create electricity. By the age of fifteen I had mastered it and decided to use this for the good of humanity.

I slipped on a cat women costume but left the ears out. I didn't have an actual outfit of my own so cat women would have to do. For a few months now, this new super villain, Obsidian, has been causing trouble. I thought I was bold enough to take him on.

I slipped out my window, hidden in the cloak of night, and made my way to the heart of the city. This is where most of Obsidians attacks have been located.

I didn't fully understand his power, or his mindset but I was determined to be a hero and take him down.

I spotted a man with a black coat on, walk back into a sketchy ally. I followed keeping in the shadows.

He was greeted by another man dressed similarly. They said nothing to each other, only handed each other files. One contained money, while the other contained documents. Seemed criminal enough for me, so I jumped on them.

I sprang out from the shadows and put my hands up to use my powers. One man jumped back and pulled out a hand gun and faced it at me. That was the first time I felt real fear spike through me.

I was so scared, I couldn't even focus on my power. I tried so hard to call upon my electricity but it failed me. My breath hitched in my throat as I heard the safety click off. I needed to act, and I need to do it fast. I tried with all my might to focus. Sparks sprung from the tips of my fingers and danced along my hand. I sent the yellow lines zipping down and struck the man with the gun.

Money was flung through the air as the man collapsed back, unconscious. The other man had a hand gun out and shot me. I put my hands up as if that would stop the bullet. I knew it wouldn't, but it did. I mini shield of yellow electricity burst in front of me and the bullet couldn't penetrate it.

I sent the shield at the man who was blown back by it. He had dropped his envelope where he was standing originally.

I went over to investigate when I figure dropped down in front of it.

"Ah, I see you already took care of my dirty work." He said. I couldn't see who he was but he had a deep voice and was tall. He bent over and picked it up. He flipped it open as if to check it was the right one before slamming it closed and tucking it away.

Bits of yellow still danced along my finger tips causing a glow on the mans face. I immediately recognised his outfit. His black outfit matched the same as Obsidians. No, it couldn't be, could it?

"Obsidian?" I asked not believing my eyes. What did he want with that file?

"No, I'm dora the explorer." He said sarcastically. He looked me up and down. "And what are you supposed to be?" He asked. "Captain marvel or something?"

I shook my head. No, this couldn't be right. Why is Obsidian here? I need to put this puzzle together before it's to late. "Voltage."

"Voltage? Huh, what an interesting alias." He laughed. He took a step closer to me. The black mask he wore only covered the top half of his face. I could see a grin spreading across the bottom of his face. "And why is a little girl like you out here so late? Don't you have a bedtime?"

I gathered as much electric force I could and set a huge shock wave his way. He waved a hand and a black smoke overtook the electricity. "Impressive." He said studying me. "But not impressive enough."

Slowly, black clouds surrounded my feet and crept up my legs and over took me. I was blinded by them and couldn't stop it from suffocating me. I gasped and stepped back stumbling over a can. I collapsed on the ground clawing at the darkness around me. I don't know how long I struggled before I passed out but it was long enough to be embarrassing.
