Demori felt a threat from Korede's new attack method.
This came as a surprise to him because he felt that, as someone at Sixth Circle, he should be able to ignore attacks from someone lower than him. But now, it seems that was not the case.
He had a vague feeling that if he continued to ignore Korede's actions, the Alpha Squad leader might finally find a way through.
He turned his focus away from trying to locate the other members of the Alpha Squad. He determined to finish off Korede quickly. It wouldn't be too late to find the others afterwards.

On Korede's part, the rising surge of energy from Demori unsettled him a bit. His instincts fired alarm bells... not that he needed it.
