Chapter 76 - Chapter 76

Darian didn't think that Leon would appreciate waking up to find him looking down his shirt, that would be a pain in the ass to explain his way out of.

It didn't help that he was staring down at something that Leon obviously wanted to keep hidden.

But... what the actual fuck?

What exactly had he been up too with Ethan?

He had been just lounging around the parking lot, like any average person, it was just his luck that Ethan drove in while he was lurking around.

He had wanted to stay put till Leon left all by himself, curious to see what would happen.

But the way Leon had been sitting close to the door, bracing himself with that odd look on his face made his legs start moving before he could put a thought behind it.

He had seen that look before, on the face of one his high school friends, her dad had been abusing her.

He could have just called the cops but he couldn't help but relieve the man of a couple teeth and a couple important joints.

It was bizarre though, Leon could hold his own against an entire group of literal warriors, it was impossible for him to get beat up by just one person.

There were bruises to prove him wrong though and he had barely glanced at Ethan but the gash on his neck was quite hard to miss.

What, were they fighting each other or something?

Leon seemed a little too eager to leave though plus the entire situation was too strange and complicated to be just a little fight.

Or had Leon been trying to protect himself?

Darian had had enough of it though, he wouldn't pester Leon to tell him what was going on till he was ready to but he was definitely keeping him away from Ethan for the rest of the foreseeable future.

His thoughts were jumbled when Leon rolled over again, facing Darian this time, curling in his direction.

Darian frowned, he hadn't slept too many times with Leon but Jaxon was usually the one rolling around, something he still managed to do although both of them were usually wrapped around him.

Leon didn't move around too much, was he uncomfortable?

Darian could leave the bed though, he didn't have to keep hanging around now that Leon was fast asleep.

He could but he wasn't going to.

He hoped that Jaxie wouldn't come back before Leon woke up, he would keep the bruises hidden from Jaxon because he didn't want the other to worry.

The same way he said nothing to Jaxon when he first saw the fingerprints, the first time the three of them had gone touring with Ethan.

Jaxon was already miserable enough with how quiet Leon was most of the time, he was usually stirring up something or the other and now they couldn't even get him to sleep on the same bed with them.

He wasn't about to add more to that...

He had never had to think about it before because really who was going to try and kill or hurt Leon? When they were in fights it was a different situation.

The end of the matter was that he never really had to worry about Leon but if he let himself think about the possibility that he could be in mortal danger, he would go ballistic.

It wasn't this bad before but yeah, he would actually go apeshit.

Suplexing Ethan though wasn't recommended and while he was pretty sure that it might cause a whole complicated situation, it would also fix a lot of things, his growing irritation for instance.

He didn't know where to put this protectiveness, he doubted that Leon would take a shine to it.

He should really just sleep as well or his head would start to smoke with all these thoughts.

Jaxon made his way back to the apartment in a hurry, lunch at Head Warrior Theo's place hadn't been half bad, what worried him was what he had to say.

He had to admit that the invitation had been surprising and had come out of nowhere but then again, he doubted that Theo would have preferred to invite over Leon or Darian.

He had driven down to the older man's house, it had come as a surprise that he didn't live in the Pack House, considering that he always stayed for dinner.

Jaxon should have put it together though, he had never seen the other's mate.

Theo's house had been warm, his mate startlingly pretty and he had fit right in from the start.

What had caught him off guard had been when Theo started asking more questions than he had been expecting about Ethan.

He could understand it when he had simply been showing interest in the fact that they knew each other when they were kids and that was understandable but the rest of the questions that had followed after had been awfully suspicious.

It wasn't like he was particularly close to Ethan now so Theo asking about how Ethan was as a child set off alarms in his head.

He tried to answer as vaguely as possible without invading Ethan's privacy, it was also the careful way Theo had asked the questions and listened to his answers afterwards that made him even more troubled.

He had cracked after the third question and outrightly asked Theo just what was going on.

Theo had backed off after this, his questions stopping.

But maybe the older man had just been merely curious because it seemed like Ethan was very closed off in the new Pack and all he had managed to do was scare him away.

He still thought the whole matter odd though...

Like thinking about him had summoned him, Ethan walked past him, making Jaxon stop.

"Oh, hey Ethan." He waved, greeting him cheerfully and a little bit distractedly...

Weren't they supposed to hang out sometime?

It was understandable though that they hadn't managed to, Ethan must be quite busy.

Ethan just passed cold eyes over the cheerful redhead. "Jaxon." He said simply, his name neither a greeting nor a recognition.

Jaxon blinked in surprise when Ethan just brushed past him, walking away.

Did something happen? He was supposed to have lunch with Leon right? Did they get into an argument or something?

Thinking about Leon made him break free from his frozen state of mild shock, continuing back to the apartment.
