Chapter 12 - Chapter 12 - Quest Collector

"I see... so that's what happened." The general made a complicated expression. After hearing Luna's story, he now understood why it was such a bloody mess. But he was still having trouble believing that the 5th knight appeared here.

He wasn't anything compared to the other knights above him in terms of skill or level. But even the 5th knight alone could wipe out an entire 100 man army. So how could this young woman win against him?

"What are you...?"

"Haven't you asked that already? As I said, my name is Luna!"

"No, that isn't what I meant. I mean your existence young lady. What is your being?"

".....Oh, you mean my class! It's DreamWalker." Luna said it like it was nothing. But after the general heard her answer, he froze. Hundreds of thoughts rushed through his head at once.

But Luna on the outside was waving her hand in front of his face. "Hey? Are you alright sir?" General Braggart came out of his trance and took another look at Luna. She resembled nothing of the original's attributes.

"Where is your smooth sparkling skin? Your sword that could even slice the moon in half? How did you get your arm back?" General Braggart bombarded Luna with questions. She wasn't good with lots of overwhelming information at once.

"Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Cool it old man! I don't know what you know about the DreamWalker and I honestly don't really care. But can you please back off!" The general was already grabbing Luna's shoulders and shaking her wildly.

"Grandfather maybe give her some space. After all... she did just save our lives." Thankfully the young girl stepped in. Her words allowed Luna to escape the old man's grasp.

"S-sorry I got a bit ahead of myself." The general backed away and went to check if any of his men were still alive.

"I'm sorry on behalf of my grandfather's behavior. I'm Jessica Braggart, it's nice to finally meet you DreamWalker" Jessica politely bowed at Luna. Who in return just stared at her like she was crazy.

"What's so special about being a DreamWalker?"

"Shouldn't you know?"

"Not really..."

"Hmm... well I don't exactly want to stay out here any longer. Do you mind if we go back inside the carriage?" Jessica was clearly disturbed by the blood everywhere that was shed by the soldiers.

"No problem" Luna followed Jessica inside and plopped herself on the seat across from her.

"First and foremost, I thank you for coming to our aid. I may be a swordsman, but I'm only a beginner. I would appreciate it if you accepted these as repayment." Jessica took off her ring and held it in her palm with 1 gold coin. Luna casually swiped the reward and received a notification.

"Now... Miss Luna, if you are really the DreamWalker of legend. Then why did you wait so long to come back? And why does everything seem so different about you?" Jessica's question sparked Luna's interest.

"Well... how should I put it?... I think... you're referring to someone else"

"You mean to say you aren't the DreamWalker?"

"No I am, but I think you're referring to another DreamWalker. I don't have any of that cool stuff that your grandfather mentioned about earlier. And as you can see, my arm isn't missing." Luna showed off her arm.

Noll's absence in the conversation really made it all the scarier when he suddenly started to speak. It startled Luna when he suddenly started speaking straight into her head.

"Don't do that." Luna whispered. Jessica noticed Luna's behavior and was concerned

"Are you alright Miss Luna?"

"Huh? O-oh yeah I'm fine. So... if you don't mind, could you tell me more about the DreamWalker you know of?" Luna wanted to know more about her class. She already knew that no one currently playing the game, had a class like hers. On the wiki under legendary classes, it clearly stated that only one user could have a specific legendary class at one time.

It did make her feel more special that way. But now that also meant that there was a previously existing DreamWalker in the world of Silver Skies. There could've been multiple of them for that matter. That's why she needed to know. 'Also that moon slicing sword sounded pretty cool.'

"Well there isn't much information within Cosal kingdom that I am aware of. There was a legend written by Magnus that is well known among our kingdom's people."

"Magnus?"

"O-oh sorry, Magnus is a famous author in our kingdom. He was originally an explorer that traveled the world hundreds of years ago. He only ever officially wrote two pieces of literature, but each were extremely famous for their time."

"I see, so do you have information regarding the DreamWalker you can tell me now?" Luna would rather hear the information from Jessica now instead of reading some book. Unlike a certain breed of people, she wasn't very good at reading books.

"Well I can tell you, but wouldn't you rather read about it yourself?" Luna flinched. 'Those game devs better not be influencing Jessica to make me read a book right now. I swear to god i'll kill them.' As it turns out, the game devs honestly couldn't care less about Luna's behavior in general. She was already considered a phantom to anyone other than the James Yung.

"I can always do that in my own time. For now, could you just tell me?"

Jessica spoke. "Alright. Well I should probably start with who the DreamWalker was. They were a righteous hero that's already considered a legend. Their tales are mostly about saving different villages and kingdoms from collapse. It's said that they had the beauty of the fairest maiden and the strength of 2000 men. Their gender is unknown as their physique was a mix between both a male and female. After traveling around the world for 100 years, they..... just disappeared."

"What about a name?" Luna asked

"That is sadly unknown, so people just praise them as the DreamWalker."

"What about their skills? And what was with that missing arm nonsense?"

Jessica pondered for a moment. "I believe in the book, their swordsmanship was mentioned as dazzling and overwhelming. Like a starry night reflected off their blade. And I'm not too sure about how, but it is commonly known that the DreamWalker only had one arm."

Luna was a little bit frustrated about her vague answers, but all she was really interested in was the sword. 'I mean, imagine how cool that would be. Slicing the moon in half with just your sword.' As they were legends there was always the possibility of it being over exaggerated. But this was a game world with infinite possibilities, what could go wrong?

"I'm sorry about not explaining the whole story properly. I only read the book as a child. If there's any questions you have about it, I have a copy of the book back at home. I don't have any problems allowing the DreamWalker to borrow it." Luna silently groaned. But she couldn't really be mad at Jessica, even if she was an NPC. They were supposed to be realistic after all.

"Ugh it hurts! A class quest is awesome, but does it have to involve reading?" Luna's heart was pained by the thought of reading a book.

"Are you okay Miss Luna?!" Jessica moved over to Luna's side to check her condition.

"I-I'm fine, it's nothing..." After Luna's response, General Braggart opened the door to the carriage. He sat down alongside Jessica and explained the situation.

"DreamWalker, I was tasked by my king to slay a particular beast that resides near Kefria Village. It's been responsible for multiple missing persons in the area for the past 2 weeks and it's normally not a problem a general like myself should solve. But after sending 3 different groups of men to attack the beast, each has perished. I had brought a hundred men with me today to kill that monster. After the attack, not one is left alive today. I could retreat and gather more men, but in that time frame, the monster will have slayed the entire village. I beg of you DreamWalker, can you please help me and my granddaughter defeat that monster."

His words were honest as he stared at Luna with pleading eyes. Her desire to ignore the request was extremely high.... but each time he called her DreamWalker, a spark lit inside her. It felt like she was something pretty special.

"*Sigh* Yeah... I'll help."

[You have accepted the quest: Slay the beast terrorizing Kefria Village!]

"Thank you, Miss Luna!" "Much appreciated, DreamWalker!"

The general shook Luna's hand while Jessica grabbed it with joy. Luna awkwardly smiled as the three of them set off to Kefria Village. Well... it wasn't exactly just the three of them.

"Oh yeah, I almost forgot you were there." Luna spoke to Noll casually. Jessica was fast asleep on the other seat and the general was outside the carriage, steering the horses.

"Sorry, sorry I was just joking. You wanted to know what reading was right?"

"Reading is what humans use to communicate through a form of writing. It's mostly used to retain and spread information to others."

"Well it probably dates back to when I was 6. My older brother would constantly read me books as a kid that had scary elements or were actually horror books. It traumatized me for the longest period of time. Once I started reading again in school, I fell behind others as my progress was slow. Each word I read on the page felt like it took 5 full seconds to fully understand it. My pride was hurt and as I grew older, my hatred for reading only grew. Nowadays I have trouble when even just the word is mentioned."

"Not really, I mostly blame myself for falling so far behind in school when others considered it easy. I just wish I could've changed what happened." Luna made a smile, but Noll could tell she wasn't glad. It was a strange feeling he had inside him when she spoke. <'What is this emotion?'> He wondered.
