Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 - Bloody Carriage Massacre

It was a rough day for Luna. For hours, she would be sprinting at full speed for multiple minutes. Only to run out of stamina and sleep for a few seconds. Then the cycle would start again. It was taxing on her spirit to keep draining her body's stamina over and over again. The feeling in her legs would repeatedly disappear as she just kept running.

Thankfully, the game devs were nice and gave Luna two rewards for her efforts. The first one was a title called "Marathon runner". The second was stat growth. It might have only been 5 points after running for a couple of hours, but an increase in agility was always welcome. With the new title she earned came a new skill.

[Marathon Runner - You have endured unending amounts of stamina drain and leg pain. Wind spirits are inspired by your sufferings. As a reward you have received the skill: Swift]

[Swift - Active

Lv - 1

Details: A method to lighten your steps. The wind pushes your body beyond it's limits and grants you increased speed. The user's movement speed will increase by 30% for 3 minutes

Cooldown - 10 minutes

Mana cost - 50 MP]

She was really enjoying this game, but there was a constant feeling of sleepiness still overwhelming her. Those 5 second naps were not helping her. Her head constantly throbbed in pain. Noll called out to her. She could barely stand and had to lean herself against a tree. It felt like her eyesight was being consumed by darkness. But she couldn't close her eyes, because she knew she would instantly pass out.

The quest was limited and Luna needed to reach it before the time ran out, she couldn't sleep now. Noll's words were like a saving grace. After those words, Luna's body went limb as she passed out.

Hours had passed once Luna had woken up. She wasn't sure how much time had passed. But strangely enough, a carriage was just sitting next to them, on the trail. It wasn't strange for a carriage to ride by on this trail, as Luna herself had already seen plenty. But this carriage was stopped randomly next to her. 'What's going on?' Luna thought aloud. The game answered her with a quest.

[Save General Braggart and his granddaughter Jessica]

Difficulty - A

Quest details: The kingdoms of Cosal and Ushain are at war. The Ushainian king has sent 1 of his knights and 60 soldiers to take out General Braggart before he can reach his destination. Defeat the Ushain Knight and soldiers before they can kill the general and his granddaughter.

Quest requirements - None

Rewards - Jessica's Ring, 1 gold coin, 50,000 experience]

Luna peeked her head around the carriage. There were over 50 black armored men charging with swords at another group of soldiers with much bigger numbers. It was a mess of a battle. There was one guy riding a horse, but it didn't seem like that guy liked giving out any orders as his men just charged without any commands.

"But which are supposed to be the Ushain soldiers?" The battle was a mix a black, silver and red. The red was just all of the blood flying around. It wasn't the prettiest of sights, but Luna had been completely covered in bug guts multiple times. So a little blood didn't really faze her.

Noll answered.

"But how can we be sure?" Luna asked.

"No, we can't do that. If we wait too long then one side will gain an advantage and what if that's the enemy? Can we kill over 50 soldiers at once? Or even 10 for that matter?" Luna wanted to charge in and just go with the flow. But Noll wanted the objective to be cleared without any problems.

"I don't know! It's an A rank quest! This is really stressful!" Luna was already having trouble thinking of what to do. The solution with the least amount of thinking was to just rush in and help. But immediately getting an A rank quest after waking up probably wasn't what she was expecting. The soldiers on each side kept dying as Luna was trying to wrap her head around this.

Luna's brain wasn't very smart even back in school. But given the situation, she was uncappable of thinking straight. Her head went with the method of brute force as her body ran forwards. "Swift!" She activated her skill and ran with incredible speed at the nearest soldier she could see. The black armored man didn't see Luna run up behind him as she readied her sword.

Noll reluctantly followed behind her.

"Sleepless Storm!" The soldier was caught off guard as she cut right into his armor.

[You have dealt 176 damage]

[The target is stunned for 0.5 seconds]

[You have dealt 176 damage]

[The target is stunned...]

Over and over again all of her strikes landed against the soldier. Each hit stunned the soldier not allowing him to turn around. He was ripped to shreds and turned to Luna to attack her, but with her skill ended, now Luna had full control over her body and slammed her sword right into his skull.

[Critical hit! You have dealt 86 damage]

The soldier fell over and died. Sadly the critical hit didn't appear when she was using her skill. But it still finished the soldier off as he fell to the ground.

"Noll, I've figured out that that black soldiers are from the Ushain kingdom!" Luna escaped from the mesh of soldiers and ran back to her previous position behind the carriage. She decided to distribute her stat points after just reaching level 9. She spent some points increasing her intelligence to 80 and now her MP was 400. "Yes! Now I can use dust!" The rest of her points were spent on strength to increase her damage.

Noll warned Luna as she smiled deviously.

"What if we use their gear against them?" Luna pulled a brand new sword out of her inventory. Her current one was already quite worn out. It was a good time for her to "borrow" someone else's sword. She used the inspect command on her new sword.

[Ushain soldier sword]

Rank - common

Attack damage - 55

Item details: A weapon equipped to each low level soldier of the Ushain kingdom. It shows a sign of acceptance for each soldier trying to pass the military exam.

Durability - 56/68

Weight - 10]

"Mwahaha" Luna equipped the sword and used instant sleep. 8 seconds later she was back up and ready to fight. She went right out into the battlefield, ready to fight.

"Cosal soldiers! I'm here to help!" She shouted towards her allies hoping they could hear. Once she was spotted on the trail, an archer from the enemy side shot straight at her.

[You have received 70 damage]

"Looks like the Ushain soldiers sure heard my shout." It felt like a sharp needle pierced her shoulder. Her health immediately went to the bottom. Two nearby Ushain soldiers noticed the arrow hit and charged right towards her. Out of panic she used her skill. "Sleepless Dust!"

Her body disintegrated into sand and faded into nothing. The soldier's sword strikes missed and cut into the ground. "What the hell?! Where'd she go?!" One of the soldiers shouted. But all he got as a response was a slash to the back.

[You have dealt 8,360 damage]

[You have dealt 8,360 damage]

"...What?" The soldiers were cleanly cut straight in half. Their upper bodies landed next to them on the ground. It was quite the gory sight as blood sprayed everywhere.

"What the hell is with this sword?!" Luna was in awe. Her damage jumped by an extreme margin. But it wasn't an issue of her sword being crazy strong either. The sword she previously used was the beginner's sword. A sword that is known to be traded out with a better item by the end of a user's first day. It wasn't meant to be used to the point of almost destroying all of its durability.

With her new "borrowed" sword, her damage potential jumped by 11 times as much as before.

Now with two level ups, she decided to put it in 10 points into stamina. The rest were put into agility and intelligence. Now her attack could finally start. Luna's favorite new method to use against all enemies. BRUTE FORCE.

She went back and forth from the carriage to heal and regenerate mana and then back out into battle. Over the course of the battle, her sword broke twice, but she already "borrowed" over 10 of them and had no problem replacing it. There were a couple of sets of armor she picked up whenever she saw free loot. Luna had to start putting more stat points into strength because of the weight of everything she was carrying. After a harsh and prolonged battle, every enemy soldier was dead. The only one remaining was the knight.

Thankfully during the battle, those that she was fighting with helped her by keeping the Ushain knight occupied. There were still 7 Cosal soldiers remaining. But they were already on their deathbeds from fighting the knight head on. At this point, after killing over 20 soldiers, Luna status looked like this:

Name - Luna

Class - DreamWalker

Level: 18

HP - 180 MP - 500

STR - 45 AGI - 33 INT - 100 STM - 36 WIS - 1

Sanity - 100

Stat points - 0

Chrysalis - Stage 0

Titles - Legendary One, Marathon Runner

The knight's level was clearly very high. It wasn't a matter of Luna guessing it either. During the battle, he cleared out more than half of the Cosal soldiers.

Luna herself cleared out about half of the Ushain soldiers. But she had to use her skills constantly and take breaks to heal herself.

The Ushain knight had been fighting without any trouble, right in the center of the battle. Luna concluded that a normal soldier was around level 20. If her math was right, then this knight was around level 50.

That was about a 30 level difference between the two of them. Unlike before, brute force wouldn't work this time. The enemy she was fighting clearly had a brain behind that set of armor. Instant sleep would only work for a couple of times before the knight realizes her plan.

Although it was screwed up, Luna needed to use the knights as shields if she wanted to fight him. Each one could probably buy about 2 seconds each, but Luna herself wasn't very good at math so she would just have to hope that they would last that long.

"Alright Noll, you ready?"

"Just shut it"
