Chapter 63 - Chapter 61: Follower

The conversation was ever so awkward. The tension as Hakai patiently waited for her to come upstairs was high. Hakai's communication skills are practically zero to nothing at times, and with a human who can naturally perceive him, it makes it harder to think clearly and create conversation. After all, she has never been to the other side, and quite frankly, she has time to live.

"About what should I talk with her? What should I ask a human?" He said to himself as his face flushed red. "Hmm, since I'm a god and she's a human, would she have faith in me?" He scratched his chin. "No, no. I don't want that." He blushed, thinking differently.

"Hakaishinn~" An evil voice, filled with rage and death, spoke inside Hakai's head. "We are reaching the final stages~ Come to us, become the Eighth Absolute Evil!~" He ended his invention with a long evil laugh. "Ha Ha Ha!"

"This voice! They're at the end of the preparation?" Worry damped Hakai's face. "If it's true, they'll eventually flip the world upside down, as prescribed in the scrolls..." He said to himself, remembering an event. Back in time, that had happened years before this life.

{Flashback}

A tall figure with long hair looked up to a massive temple. At each corner, four Tomoe (comma) were in his pure red eyes. His pupil had two wheels made into an X, and each spoke pointed at the four Tomoe with their ends.

"Shinigami, you have overstepped the line!" He shouted into the sky as his eyes shone with anger.

"Have I? When you choose to be in the flesh of humans, you abide by death." A dark voice spoke inside of Hakai's head. "The preparations have begun, Heaven will soon shake, and the world will flip to our side!"

Hakai clenched his head as he faked a smile and walked towards the massive shining doors of the temple.

{End of Flashback.}

"Haki-Kun?" Mai stood over him with a tray of freshly made noodles. "I thought a quick yet filling meal would do?" She smiled as she placed the tray on his lap. "I made you some miso ramen with some chashu pork."

Not wanting to alarm or worry her, Hakai smiled as a beam of joy engulfed his body. "This looks beautiful!" He shouted as he picked up the neatly placed chopsticks, "Thanks for the blessing!" He clapped his hands. Mai slightly smiled, waiting for feedback. "Hmm, oh my god. It is delicious." He slurped the noodles while Mai watched him fill up.

"No, I must say something!" So he thought to himself, waiting in the slicing as he ate. "Break the tension, or just think of something clever," he said, psyching himself up for a conversation.

"Mai-San, do you know why my eyes are red?" He asked her as he placed his chopsticks back down in the trey.

"Yes, finally, he mentioned it. I was going to ask soon!" Her mindscape self lit up with burning fire.

"I was going to ask, but no?" She told him that she accepted the tray out of his hands and placed it on her table.

'When negativity and positivity produce a God, that being is granted a special ability. Mine was the Eight Paths Eyes." He smiled, yet confused Mai.

"What's negativity and positivity?" She asked him, intrigued yet confused.

"Aw, shit, forgot she's a living human!" He slapped his forehead in disappointment, exposing her to more secrets of the other world.

"Ehh-" He stopped, knowing he couldn't lie or change the subject efficiently. "Well, their beings higher than go-"

Zap!

His senses jumped, picking up on a massive colliding negative energy.

"Fusion?" He stood up, worried a little. "I'm sorry, I have to go, but we will talk later." His attention remained outside the window.

"Wait, Haki-Kun. I have a question." She held him back from the Kimono jacket. He looked back to meet her eyes glittering with excitement and curiosity. "Can I follow you to where you are heading?"

"Huh?" Hakai's facial expression changed. Then, confused, he let out a big. "No!"

"Why not? Please, I need more answers." She told him as she asked him. "Where are you going? Where do you go? What do you do? What's the other world like?" Her face was worried and curious. Hakai couldn't make a decision. His heart rate spiked, his temperature rose, and his answer was a straightforward confession.

"Just because you're my first human doesn't mean I have to answer everything!" He blushed as he realized what he had said. "Look, my world is crazy dangerous. A human cannot understand it. I can't." he told her, holding her and letting it go off his kimono. "Plus, you can't keep up with me." He smiled, curling up in her window and leaping away with a smile.

"Wait, please. I need answers." She reached her arm out of the window.

Hakai blushed and had ideas running through his head. "I can't possibly let her travel with me just because I'm curious about her too, can I?" Sweat fell from his face as he leaped from house to house, making his way into the large-lit city of Tokyo. "It's a taboo, right?"
