Chapter 28 - Don't Get Attached

Titania let out a sigh as she entered the room near where she was just to avoid Vivica's eyes. "Why is she going this way? What happened to the tea party?" She roamed her vision and saw the room filled with books and other things she didn't understand. "It wouldn't hurt to check these things out."

She started searching the desk for the said documents the Archduke wanted to obtain. Titania wondered what it was. Sylvester said it's a golden paper wrapped with a red thread making it easy to distinguish.

"If he knew what is it, then why doesn't he come and get it?"  Titania sighs as she rolls her eyes and continues searching the drawers. "I don't know why I'm purposely letting myself be in trouble."

When she was about to open another one of the drawers, the sound of the door unlocking made her flustered. She immediately hid under the desk with her heart pounding. 'Ugh! What timing is this?!'

"Are you sure you could leave the tea party you're hosting?"  Titania's forehead creased upon hearing an unfamiliar voice of a man. "It's okay. I invited all of them just to make fun of Titania." She couldn't believe what Vivica said, 'That stupid girl,' she thought as she tried to control her anger, it would be awful if they discovered her here.

'But what are they doing here?!'

"Isn't this your Father's office? Why are we here?"

'So I'm in the right place? Alright!' Titania thought out of excitement. But realizes that it's meaningless if those two stayed in the room with her. She'll end up wasting time waiting for them to go out.  "Should I use what Astra taught me?" she mumbled to herself as she unconsciously started biting her nails.

What Astra taught her was a cloaking spell that would make her invisible from people's sight. However, she could only use it for a limited amount of time since she still couldn't control her powers that much, and Astra didn't want her to hurt herself by creating a more complicated spell.

"Because no one will find us here." Vivica's giggle filled the room, making Titania grimace. "Didn't you want to do it? Isn't that the reason why you came here?" The flirtatious sound of Vivica's voice made Titania cringe as she mockingly copied her.

"Actually, I came here for your Father. Since I caught a glimpse of those vigilantes that attacked your family's business." After hearing the man's voice once again, Titania felt an oddly familiar feeling. As if she had heard that voice somewhere before.

Vivica sighs as she slams her body on the couch, "If you did your job and brought the Fairy Queen back to the Emperor before, then he'll probably help my Father secure his business right away. But you failed, didn't you?" Titania's brows snapped together, 'Why did my name come up— I mean Titania's name.'

"I already apologized for that. It was shocking that the Fairy Queen was still alive, and worse, she became the Archduke's fiancée." The man said.

Vivica snickered as she placed her foot on the man's legs. "Can we stop talking about that and get right into business? Titania might come back any minute now, and I'll miss harassing her if we stayed any longer."

What happened after that made Titania so flustered that she froze on where she was sitting right now. 'Are they making out?! Seriously? In her Father's office?!'

Vivica moaned while Titania tried to cover her ears to avoid hearing their noises, but it was futile. "M-Marshal, do it roughly."

A thought came into Titania's mind after hearing the man's name. Memories of Titania running out of the Imperial Palace came back to her. And the man who was chasing her was the young Count of Halee Family, Marshal Halee.

He is Marquess Byron's right-hand man, and he is in love with Vivica Byron. That's why she could make him do anything she wanted.

"But why was he chasing this girl?" Titania continued mumbling pertaining to herself amid the noise coming from the two.

Questions that she didn't know the answers to continued piling up like dirty laundry, and it's taking all the space inside her mind.

"How am I supposed to—"

Her thought was cut off when her attention went to a hidden drawer under the desk. She slowly opened it, trying not to create a noise, and there she saw the golden rolled paper with a red thread on it. "Yes! I'm so lucky," she murmured.

"Now, how am I supposed to escape from this living hell?" she tried to peek at the door and quickly saw them doing it near the door that even if she cloaked herself, she still wouldn't be able to open it.

'I thought she's bullying me because she likes Sylvester?' is what she thought as she shook her head, 'How long do I have to wait here, oh god.'

Titania hugged her legs as she waited for the two to leave the room. She could feel her stomach grumbling due to hunger, and regrets for not eating any snack kept hanging inside her mind.

"Just please end it now." She whispered as she tried to not listen to their sounds, not until a knock on the door came and disrupted the two.

Titania quickly used her cloaking spell and ran towards the door; as Vivica opened it, she slipped through and raced without knowing where she was going.

She stopped upon hearing Blaze's voice. "Milady." Her head turned around as she glared at the young man, "How could you leave me there? Did you know how long I have to suffer hearing those annoying moans?" Blaze tilted his head out of confusion, and that's when Titania realized how old the young man was.

"Oh right, I'm sorry." She remembered that Blaze Fletcher is a 16-year-old boy from the southern Alynthia near the Lair Deamhan and was called the Savage people of Giric.

Of course, he wouldn't know such mature things. He grew up in an environment where he needed to hunt to live. And the people of Giric are away from civilization. But known for their super strength that helped them survive all the attacks from the demons.

The book also said that Blaze Fletcher is one of the greatest warriors in their tribe. He's a genius when it comes to battles.

"Shall we go back now?" Blaze only looked at Titania's face without saying anything back. "Oh, I suddenly remembered the tea party." She frowned. She didn't even have the time to change clothes or to wipe the juice off of her.

Titania gave Blaze the document, "Take this, I'll just show myself for a while, then I'll make an excuse to go home early." I must be quick while Vivica's still busy.

At the moment she arrived in the drawing-room, she heard the laughter of the other women inside. The young fairy prepared herself to act sick so that she could go home without anyone asking anything about it.

"Miss Titania! What took you so long?" Laria greeted her with a smile, but she cracked an uneasy smile at them. "I'm sorry, but I don't feel too well. I must excuse myself now."

The disappointment was seen in the ladies' eyes as she waved them goodbye. After arriving in the carriage, she felt relieved without bumping into Vivica because she'd surely pull her back to the drawing-room.

"Milady, is it really okay for you to not change clothes?"

Titania smiled at her worried maid to make her at least feel assured, "I'm fine, just help me take a bath later." Marie nodded; although still worried, she tried to wipe the juice that got on Titania's dress to at least make her feel comfortable.

"Marie…"

Marie smiled at the lady but went frozen after the lady fell to the ground and lost consciousness. The young maid panicked and screamed the knight's name with them, Blaze who checked up on the lady, quickly told the henchman to rush towards the archduchy.

Everything happened too fast. Blaze, Marie, and Titania arrived back in the archduchy with the lady in Blaze's arms. The other knights informed the Archduke of their arrival, and immediately after he saw the lady lying unconscious, he felt a burst of anger inside him that he couldn't explain.

"What happened?"

All the servants became quiet due to Sylvester's intimidating aura.  "Blaze."

"Y-Your grace!" Marie got in between Blaze and Sylvester as she didn't want Blaze to receive the Archduke's anger. "T-The lady suddenly lost consciousness while on our way back to the Archduchy." She explained.

The others felt scared for Marie because they didn't know how the Archduke would react.

"Call Astra. Immediately!"

Sylvester took Titania in his arms and walked away from the entrance of the archduchy. The servants were relieved because there was no bloodshed but still worried for their lady.

The Archduke brought her to her room. He didn't even understand why he felt frustrated and annoyed with this sudden event. "Since when did I care for this girl?"

"You called?"

"She fainted again. Fix her."

Astra grimaces, "You should really fix your attitude first." He sighs as he checks Titania's pulse. "You already know that she'll end up like this anyway. Why put her in a mission like that?" The young mage began using healing magic to get rid of Titania's fatigue since he still didn't have the medium to see the conditions of her original body.

"I didn't know it would affect her body. It was a simple mission."

The young mage's forehead creased, "I must remind you, but she's not here permanently. She'll choose her original body at all cost when she finds a way back."

"What do you want to say?"

Astra sighs, "I want to say that you shouldn't get attached to her."  Sylvester clenched his fist and averted his gaze, "I'm not attached to her." This made Astra look at him with doubt.

"Yeah, right. You should look at your face while you're at it. Looks like ready to kill someone." Astra said. "Did you suddenly fall for her because she kissed you? I didn't expect you to be that easy."

"I did not!"

Astra tucked Titania in and gazed back at Sylvester, "Calm down. I'm just saying that you're the one who's supposed to be using her. Not the other way around."

Sylvester felt conflicted upon hearing those words. "I'm saying this because I'm your friend. You'll end up getting hurt if you keep this up." The young mage left the room, and soon after, Marie arrived with sweat and tears in her eyes.

She looked on the ground and avoided eye contact with the Archduke, "I… I'll help the lady clean her body, y-your grace."  He left the room without saying anything back.

What Astra said kept repeating in his mind. He was indeed planning to use the young fairy to control Lennox back and take advantage of him. But now that she's already stuck in this place, he couldn't do it anymore.

"Why did I…?"
