The next morning Jeremy was on his way to work with his usual habit of inquiring about his surroundings.
'Tsk, despite becoming so advanced in everything and exceeding the limitations humanity had presumed,'
Jeremy was driving his one person vehicle which had excelled in comfort and smoothness.
Resembling the cars used by people before in the early stage of developing years, his vehicle was quite cheaper and comfortable.
Jeremy moved his eyes on the streak of buildings around him, the area was less laced with privileges. Comparatively the place from where lived that residential area was considered poor.
'We still aren't able to get rid of this status quo.'
Jeremy clicked his tongue in disgust and annoyance.
He knew how the world worked and could possibly feel how the leftovers were passed on to the poors. Richer got to consume every privilege first as the opportunities were only given to them.
'I wonder how did I get the chance to climb up to any remarkable position?'
Jeremy's query was valid but he had no idea that the ones who achieved something, were fated to become enslaved to the organisations and the authorities.
He couldn't change what had been already seeped into the roots of mankind. Jeremy turned his head helplessly towards the road sensing the flying traffic signal warden was about to show red.
"What the-"
He barely managed not to fall ahead due to sudden breaks because the automatic vehicle sensed something emerged ahead.
Jeremy groaned after bumping his head and seeing a man on an expensive bike in front of him he got boiled.
"These kids will never grow up, he must be some spoiled rich brat."
Jeremy Grayson was about to come out to knock some sense into him.
But he was forced to stay inside after the guy gestured to kill him. Jeremy couldn't decipher what the situation was and why he was after him.
'Is he someone related to any of those people I sent behind bars?'
That was all Jeremy could think and immediately grasped his senses.
He took the nearby right by breaking the signal and in the attempt hurt the old man on the pavement.
'Fuck! Who is he?'
Jeremy tried to drive as fast as he could and set the destination on the vehicle, now all he had to do was to sit back and let the car save his life.
The vehicle took turns and different paths to dodge the biker but whenever Jeremy peeked he was behind.
"No, no,this is crazy!"
Jeremy tried to call Connor but somehow all the devices sharing the same frequency were disabled.
The biker was persistent to kill him and placed a bug on Jeremy's car when he stopped him at the signal.
The bot at the signal failed to capture the biker's view due to the energy shield around him. And if the police would arrest Jeremy it would be only him in the footage, breaking the law and hurting the old man.
Before he could figure out what exactly was happening the biker emerged from the left and intentionally bumped into him.
Due to the lightweight of his vehicle Jeremy was thrown into the alley. The car bumped into the wall of the dead end but Jeremy managed to jump before that.
"That was a close shave."
He was stunned seeing his car deformed when the biker approached him.
Although Jeremy couldn't see his face due to helmet but the man appeared to be angry behind that protection.
"What do you want from me?"
Jeremy slyly tried to negotiate to divert the attention and slipped his both hands behind.
He tapped on his wrist and the image of the screen played in his head when he clicked on the pocket knife.
"Your life!"
The biker stepped towards Jeremy slowly and drew out a palm sized rod which transformed into an energy whip.
Jeremy gulped for once seeing the weaponry and knew that one touch from that whip would send an electric shock. An imminent death.
"But why?"
He stood up on foot and positioned himself to attack as soon as the man would approach him.
Jeremy had aimed the crook of his neck to stab knowing it will make him drop the whip. He did all the possible calculations to buy the time to run.
"You are not in a position to converse, Jeremy Grayson!"
The anonymous man rebuked making him realize the situation.
He scurried towards him to attack when Jeremy plunged with the same intention. Although he missed his neck and toppled over the ground.
Within the horror struck condition Jeremy immediately turned around and leaped backwards. The man was calmly standing at some distance when a bot emerged from the bike and shot Jeremy from behind.
Everything escalated in a jiffy leaving no chance for him to sense that there could be bots attached to the bike.
The man stared at the detective who was still in shock before his body fell on the floor, totally lifeless.
